It was through this observation that he came to understand just what exactly was happening. When the young boy opened his mouth to finally speak to his pokemon, they were not commands at all, and Lucian’s hunch was fully validated. The boy was allowing his pokemon to do all the decision making. A curious strategy to be sure…it was generally only used by those inept at giving commands, or those with pokemon so well trained that their input was nigh unnecessary. He was more than confident it was the latter of the two. “Not at all. Your level of care and dedication to her is quite apparent. I am simply pointing out what is quite obvious.” He gave the lady in disguise another calm smile, but his mind was just as focused on the battle as her own. Carrying on a casual conversation in the midst of it was not actually that strange to him, since he was quite used to doing all of his command giving mentally, leaving his voice free to talk normally. He was curious about Espeon’s unwillingness to move and use her speed, but in this case it was going to work to his advantage. The little psychic type had boosted her special attack and special defense, but he was only truly worried about the boost in special attack - luckily Bronzong had high enough defense stats that he would not be wiped out in one hit. On the other side, he was quite pleased - Espeon’s normal defense stat was low, and the Calm Mind could do nothing about that. And though Bronzong had started off with a special type move, that was certainly not the huge steel pokemon’s real strength. The Bronzong had moved in quite close range by now, and it would seem his opponents were counting on this to give their next move more effect. The Shadow Ball appeared at the front of the purple pokemon’s tiny mouth, and then shot forth in a crackling orb of ghostly power. Bronzong could not dodge, and did not try - it was still pressing forward without pause. The orb smacked into it, causing it to wobble slightly, but the dual-type did not share Espeon’s weakness to Ghost moves - it only did the normal amount of damage. Meanwhile, the dainty psychic type had let herself become in range of Bronzong’s slower self, as his forward movement had not stopped. As if garbed in shadow, Bronzong’s outline suddenly became somewhat hazy, before it executed a Faint Attack - a move that allowed it to disappear for just that split second before all of it’s darkness enveloped mass would be thrown at Espeon. Of course the spritely psychic type could attempt to dodge out of range, though it was quite a bit different than trying to escape a small pin pointed attack - in this close-range attack, you were trying to get out of the way of what was, as far as size difference was concerned, a metal wall. Bronzong’s mass may have slowed him down, but it did give him a considerable amount of girth and reach when attacking.
