Be Nimble and Quick - Battle of Olivine
Round 2 - Mission with Silver
Round 2 - Mission with Silver
Silver gazed up the full length of the lighthouse’s imposing structure, taking in and processing every last inch of it’s towering height. It truly was a colossal piece of architecture. Definitely not something that could be destroyed without any sort of struggle. Despite the fact that tearing the structure to pieces was the Nox trainer’s objective in this battle, it’s sturdiness served as an asset to him in this particular situation. It would give him more time to scale it before the other Nox members managed to demolish it.
It was no secret that the lighthouse’s source of energy was an Ampharos that resided within the top floor of the sky-scraping tower. Seeing as how, at this very moment, the lighthouse was illuminated, it was clear that the Pokemon was currently in it’s usual spot, performing it’s duty as it would any other day. If the tower went down with the Electric-type still residing in the topmost floor, there was no way it would possibly be able to survive the fall. Another piece of common knowledge was that this particular Ampharos was owned by the resident Gym Leader, Jasmine, who cared very deeply for it. The death of her Pokemon would surely cause her a great amount of despair.
Silver felt no real obligation to help Jasmine. He hardly even knew the Steel-type specialist, outside of their battle so long ago and a short conversation held prior to this whole skirmish. But he couldn’t just allow the Ampharos to go down along with the lighthouse. One would hardly see the trainer as the justice-oriented, caring type, but there wasn’t any chance he would just sit back and allow an innocent Pokemon to perish in such a terrible way. Besides, he was well aware of the fact that Jasmine was far from a Lux supporter, as well as the fact that tearing down her precious lighthouse could very well drive her to reevaluating her opinion on the Indigo League’s policies. Perhaps if he could save the Ampharos, he would prevent another skilled, influential trainer from joining their ranks.
“There could be Lux members crawling around the place,” Silver muttered to himself, evaluating the situation in his head. “I should have a Pokemon to defend me in that case… But I need a fast one, so I can run in and out before Nox manages to knock it down, or I wouldn’t be able to walk out of it alive…” Reaching for the Pokeball containing the speediest Pokemon in his possession, he lightly tossed it a few inches ahead of him, releasing Nosferatu with a great flash of light. “Come on, Nosferatu,” he commanded. “We have to reach the top of this tower, and fast. Scout ahead for any Lux trainers while I try to find the elevator.” The Crobat obliged, rushing in without a moment’s hesitation. Silver followed suit, but not before sliding the elevator key card that Jasmine had given him earlier out of his pocket. This should make my job a little easier.
The two of them found the elevator without too much trouble. Silver hurriedly slipped the key card into the slot, breathing a sigh of relief as the doors parted with an accompanying ding. “Good thing it still works,” he thought aloud as he entered the small room, shadowed by Nosferatu, and pushed the button for the top floor. He had been thinking about the possibility that somebody could have cut the lighthouse’s power already. Since the beam was produced by a Pokemon rather than a traditional energy supply, it would be impossible to tell until they were standing in front of a stationary elevator. Thankfully, that was not the case.
The moment the elevator doors parted, Silver rushed out onto the small room on the top floor of the lighthouse. No Nox members seem to have managed to do any damage yet, which put the trainer’s mind at east. All it had to do now was find the Ampharos and take it back down the elevator. An easy enough task. Or at least, it seemed like one, until he heard footsteps coming from the other side of the door, separating the room from the stairs connecting the floors together.
Silver’s eyes narrowed as he gazed at the door, anticipating who or what could be on the other side of the divider. “There’s someone out there,” he called out to Nosferatu in a hushed voice, who quickly glided over and positioned itself between the door and it’s trainer. “It could be Nox, it could be Lux. If it’s the latter, strike them before they have the chance to process what’s going on. No hesitations.” Deep down, Silver knew it was probably Lux. They’d have every reason to be inside the tower at this moment, while most of the other Nox members present at the battle were probably not too interested in anything in the structure.
