The moon hung barely visible in the sky among the painted dusk sky, its reflected light shimmering weakly among the colours that streaked the heavens. It was a majestic sight, one Lance appreciated every time he saw it, and his view this time around was perfect as usual, right on top his loyal charizard’s back, high in the sky. Blaze wasn’t into the simpler things in life and didn’t really bother with his trainer’s aesthetics, yet he would not interfere with them. His respect for his trainer was great as was the respect for anything his trainer enjoyed, whether he personally found it irritating.
Blaze let out a silent roar, signalling the arrival at their destination. Lance shifted his focus down below, taking in the silent solace that was the Dragonspiral Tower. It stood tall and darkened as its shadow fell upon the dragon and master. This was the oldest ruin in all of Unova and is said to be the place where two of the great dragons of age, Reshiram and Zekrom, were sealed thousands of years ago. Just the very whisper of those legends had caught Lance’s ear and prompted him to travel here all the way from Johto. He had travelld to Unova before but it still remained foreign to him and even now he could’ve only had gotten here with the locals help. Luckily Lux’s presence in Unova wasn’t as strong as in Kanto or Johto and nobody really recognized the former Indigo Champion here.
”Circle around then land near the entrance.” Lance’s level voice called out of the roar of the wind. With another mighty roar, Blaze began his angled descent, his head turned back to watch where he was flying.
His spiralling around the tower got smaller and smaller as they slowly got towards the earth. As they approached the single bridge above the water around the tower, Lance let go of the fire dragon’s strong neck, jumping down onto the wooden bridge underneath. He landed with a neat roll, standing on his feet after one rotation. Blaze landed a bit heavier beside him, the wooden walk way creaking under his weight.
”Thanks for the lift. You must be tired right? Have a good rest.” He removed Blaze’s pokeball and with a flash of red the charizard vanished into it.
Pushing his cape over his shoulders with a single hand he turned to face the Dragonspiral Tower. He’d come here to investigate the rumors of those two legendary dragons. He’d heard the seal on them had been broken and they had escaped, still he hoped he could manage to find some clue as to their whereabouts. The thought of finding new dragons made his blood boil with excitement. It had been a while since he felt like this, ever since the war started to be exact. Even if it was a wild goose chase, it was a distraction, something to keep his mind of this damn war that raged all around him. Of course finding the dragons would be a really big bonus.
With his mind made up he began casually walking towards the tower, the building looming before him as it stretched into the sky, piercing the heavens.

((tanz would still join up. just later.))
watson was shrieking.
"now, now, watson," altair said between yells and cries from the electric mouse, "do you mind holding your silence for a moment or two? it certainly isn't going to make you feel any worse, but it would make us all feel better." the pichu gave another cry, then scampered onto altair's shoulder. the dark-haired male sighed, patting watson's head before wading through the tall grass to get to the tower. "watson, you don't mind illuminating the path?"
it was then that the pichu set off on another of its wails, before altair shushed it up with a light smack to the head. "don't force my hand," he commented smilingly. dragonspiral tower stretched towards the clouds before them, and the cooper wanted a glimpse of it up close, perhaps even a look at its internal layout given the chance. when piloting an aircraft in isshu, he had spotted it when he dipped in altitude; it wasn't every day that he saw fit to catch some air outside of tailing sirius wherever he went.
watson simply shut up, crossing his tiny arms while remaining seated on the pilot's shoulder. he let out a snort of protest, before altair's red eyes snapped to the mouse's dark ones. "watson," he sighed, "please. refrain from ... whining about this." he stepped onto the bridge leading to the tower, hearing it creak and feeling the mouse wince. oh, so this was what it was nervous about ... ? the water, and the sinking feeling the mouse had. by now, watson already had his hands on his shirt collar, gripping it tightly and pressing his body close to him.
"hm?"
it turned out that watson was neither nervous about the water nor the creaking bridge. it was the presence of a caped man with some large pokémon vanishing into its pokéball. well, he should have expected it. dragonspiral tower was a common location for people wishing to seek out dragon pokémon or train their pokémon for the tough days ahead. watson might have been a mischievous pokémon, but in the presence of stronger ones, he paled into the background.
altair smiled, shaking his head slowly. wasn't this lance? the cape was rather hard to miss. all in all, it was a fellow nox member, so it probably wouldn't hurt - "good day," he greeted, giving the champion a nod as he approached him.

Alyssa walked slowly along the path leading to Dragonspiral Tower. She had only heard of it briefly prior to coming to Unova. She had to admit that although she was not a Dragon master by any means, the thought of Dragon pokemon gave her a thrill of excitement, particularly since she associated the type primarily with Salamence and Flygon, two of the best dragon-type pokemon from the Hoenn region, in her opinion. However, there was something that she looked to beyond those two pokemon, and it was legendary. Rayquaza. The legendary dragon of Hoenn. Thinking of the Sky High pokemon sent a thrill of excitement up her spine. Ever since she was younger and first heard mention of it in legends, she had always loved the idea of legends being more than just legends. If Rayquaza truly existed, she wanted to be the one to find it.
But you won’t find it in Unova... she told herself. Looking up at the setting sun, she halted. The lack of motion gave her body a chance to feel the cold for the first time in her walk. She hadn’t noticed the decreasing temperature that night until now. The moon was rising in the sky, but was illuminated as a brilliant blue-violet rather than firey pink-orange from the sunset, or simply white against the dark blue of the night sky. Dusk was a wonderful time, in Alyssa’s opinion. Though the colors in the sky clashed on occasion, it was easy on her eyes – even if not anybody else’s. The silver clouds floated through the sky with a breeze.
The brush of fur against her hand, and she looked down in surprise. Amon, her Absol, stood beside her, his red eyes peering up at her from beneath the white fur on his head. In the light of dusk, the eyes of an Absol could be frightening for someone that was faint of heart. She let her hand fall easily on his head, pulling him gently closer to her. The Absol’s clawed feet scruffed against the ground as he shifted closer to his trainer, almost hesitantly. Despite the time she’d sent with him, he still seemed distant to the trainer, like her Metagross. She lifted her hand and brushed her fingers against the curved horn on his head.
”Ready to continue?” she asked, smiling a bit. She remained staring at the sky, but felt the pokemon’s head tilt upwards before nodding.
~*~*~*~
Voices. That was what Alyssa heard for the first time in a while after her own footsteps. She had come upon Dragonspiral Tower finally, but had immediately sensed she was not alone. This feeling had been confirmed by the voices. She stepped around onto the bridge, looking up at the tower before the owners of the voices. So this was where the legendary pokemon of Unova were said to be sealed, huh?
Nothing like a wild goose chase at night. she thought, smirking a bit.
As the two figures before her came in to view as her eyes adjusted to the shadow cast by the tower, they widened at one in particular. It was none other than Lance – the Champion of Johto. She froze, blinking in disbelief. Of all people to meet here, Lance happened to be who she came upon – in addition to another. W...woah... she thought. She’d never met him, but he was one of the people she wanted to battle more than anything.
Not now, though... she scolded herself slightly.
Glancing at the man that had spoke - whom she didn’t recognize, she pulled her red hat off and pocketed it. Her white hair was tied in a high ponytail, and fell to her mid-back. It brushed against her back as she glanced down at the Absol by her side before looking up. ”Well. I didn’t expect to see anybody out here at this time of the day...” she said, smiling slightly.

Coming here had definitely been the best decision he made in a very long time. It was only a pity he didn't bring Clair along with him; she would have enjoyed this, probably more than him. Unfortunately she was more of stiff when it came to responsibilities than him. Even as an Elite Four member, he would leave his post regularly just to visit around, especially Clair's gym. She would give him an earful about leaving his important duty as an Elite Four constantly but he knew secretly she enjoyed his random visits.
Shaking his head mentally he nearly forgot where he was and more importantly the time he was in. This was still a time of war and his lack of concentration could get him killed by a Lux officer just scouting the area. He immediately began scanning the area, it was always better to be safe than sorry after all. Nothing, just him alone in this tranquil peace and quiet. Taking a step towards the tower, the footsteps of another on the wooden bridge caught his attention. He spun quickly on his heels, a pokeball swiftly materializing his hand ready to unleash one of his mighty dragons at the intruder. Looking at the intruder, he noticed the Pichu immediately on his shoulder. Instinctively he assumed that was going to be the fellow's weapon for this battle but the casual tone in his greeting and approach cancelled that thought out.
Before he could reply to the unknown male yet another uninvited guest made an appearance. This time it was a young white-haired female and her Absol. It took a few seconds but a name finally connected with her face. Alyssa Akiyama, also known as Hoenn's Abyss. He hadn't met her personally but almost everyone in Nox knew of the Regional Leader of Hoenn, by reputation at least. The tension in his body faded slightly knowing there was somebody from his side here. Though he still kept the pokeball tightly gripped in his hand. He still knew nothing about this male, but with Alyssa here he wouldn't be much of a problem if he was Lux, then again even if Alyssa wasn't here he wouldn't be much of a problem. Still just having someone from Nox quelled his uneasiness. So much for his tranquil peace and quiet.
"I could repeat that statement back at you, Alyssa Akiyama..." he replied to her statement, giving an eloquent bow, his cape moving obediently behind him. His charismatic flair always seemed to arouse when a pretty female was nearby, much to Clair’s chagrin. ”I thought I would be the only one interested in the tales of legendary dragons at this place. Guess I was mistaken.”

"good day to you too," altair greeted alyssa with a smile. not too many people came here, he thought. this time, he was wrong. that was what he got for making assumptions. the young man grimaced slightly when watson's claws dug into his shoulders.
the young pokemon had an uncanny ability to sense strong trainers. having someone like these two figures around was not the best of situations for the electric mouse. watson displayed his indignance at the situation with a loud cry, and a frown. altair wished to reprimand the young creature, but he held his hand. now was not the time. it seemed that there were greater things afoot. namely, the tower itself. so many strong trainers - himself not included - converging in the same area had to mean something.
his mind snapped back to the moment where lance grabbed his pokeballs, ready to let loose one of his dragons at him. the war had changed many people. things were no longer what they were; one wrong step and everything would be gone. nothing left in its wake, people all subservient to a greater power. altair did not want such a world to exist - but conflict was omnipresent. his fighting against the greater forces that lurked above him and everyone else meant nothing if it was a losing battle; what if he won? there would still be conflict and nothing changed at the end of the day.
finally, lance had come clean about why he had come. The legendary dragons of isshu - of course! he should have expected it from the dragon specialist and champion of johto. quietly, the pilot waited for more to unfold, watson similarly silent as well.

Alyssa’s eyes had not missed Champion Lance’s abrupt movement of snatching the pokeball off of his belt and held it at the ready to attack the unfamiliar male figure which she now stood more or less behind. She was a bit off to the side, though, so she was able to see his expression as well as Lance’s. If this man turns out to be Lux… she thought silently, He will be defeated easily… She did not make her judgment based on the pokemon (a rather cute one at that) perched on the mans shoulders, but instead who she knew she would be fighting with. Although she had never gotten the chance to personally meet Lance until now, she knew the powerful Champion was with Nox. Alone, she and Lance could hold their own in any fight, she was sure, but together it would take a powerful trainer, alongside a sizable helping of luck, to defeat them.
”I could repeat that statement back at you, Alyssa Akiyama…” Her cerulean gaze travelled quickly to Lance as he moved. He dipped low into a respectful bow. She blinked in surprise and tried to mask it on her face, although a blush slipped onto her pale cheeks despite her efforts. Lance…just bowed to me? she wondered. She felt sure it was a polite gesture that a gentleman would pay to a lady, but the thought of being bowed to in general made her blush, let alone the action itself rather than just the thought. The other man greeted her as well, and she turned slightly to nod at him, acknowledging his greeting before she verbally did so or introduced herself. Even if he’s Lux…an introduction is one way to find out… she thought.
”I thought I would be the only one in interested in the tales of legendary dragons at this place. Guess I was mistaken.” Alyssa smiled a bit. She glanced down at Amon, who sat beside her, watching the two trainers before him with a wary red-eyed gaze. He scraped his claws against the wood of the bridge, driving small marks into it. He didn’t like the situation, she could tell, simply because they were unfamiliar to him. Amon was rather untrusting of strangers.
Shaking her head, Alyssa spoke, first to Lance. ”I figured that setting foot in Unova deserved a bit of a check-up as far as their lore went.” she said. ”That, and I guess I needed a change of pace from the Dragons from Hoenn’s legends…” she told him, laughing quietly for a moment. All three Dragons, to be exact… she added silently before turning to the other man, once she had walked up to stand parallel to him, Amon warily following.
”I don’t believe I introduced myself…” she told him, looking up at his face. ”My name, as you just heard is Alyssa…Alyssa Akiyama.” She held the expression that was more serious from the introduction before adding, with a smile, ”Your Pichu is rather adorable, by the way…”

It was unlikely that this man would be foolishly enough to provoke the Indigo Champion and Hoenn’s Regional Leader to a battle, it would be suicide unless the man was some hidden genius that Lance knew nothing about. He still kept his pokeball firmly in his hand, which would remain there till Lance knew everything about the both of them. Even if Alyssa was Nox, he knew nothing of her personally and in this time of war, trust was far and few between.
Still just because one is cautious does not mean they have to be rude as well. Giving each of them a warm smile and a quick flurry of his cape, he made his introductions after Alyssa’s. ”Where are my manners. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Lance Draken. A pleasure to meet you both in such an auspicious occasion. ” He turned to face Alyssa again, his smile still evident of his face. ”I’m a bit surprised that a Regional Leader of Nox has enough free time to be wondering around here looking for fairy tales. Of course I can understand your fascination for the dragons of lore. Such majestic and mystical creatures are tempting enough for anyone to chase after them. I am living proof of that.” He told her.
The sun was beginning to set now, the lone shadow of the tower beginning to stretch further across the land as the sky began to darken. Piercing red eyes looked towards the heavens above, quietly taking in the last traces of light left in the air. For a moment Lance stood motionless, just gazing up into the sparkling heavens above. The silence in the air was like a calm before a storm. Question was...what type of storm was about to approach them? Returning his gaze towards the tower, he began walking towards it, his cape following his every movement. ”Nothing like a full moon for dragon hunting.” He said as he looked over his shoulder, the light of the now, emerging moon illuminating his crimson eyes.

at the mention of his species, watson immediately puffed out his chest in pride. of course he was adorable! even the old, cranky aunts told him that. he glanced at alyssa, beaming, until his trainer spoke. "altair cooper of lake valor," he said, giving both the female and lance a nod. "pleasure to be in your company today, ms akiyama and mr draken." the cooper family was of some name in the nox hierarchy, disorganized as it was. they were one of the main benefactors to the cause, a fact that altair was neither proud nor disappointed about. he merely chose to stand with instead of against his family. some chose to go with their hearts and to the opposing side, but he was certain that both his heart and mind was with his family and nowhere else.
he had expected to be cast into the sidelines in favour of the regional leader. altair merely watched on pleasantly, a smile crafting itself upon his face. watson was still happily bouncing atop his shoulder, a hand twining itself around a lock of hair to tell his trainer how happy he was. the man tickled the rodent under his chin. "thank you for the compliment, ms akiyama," his smile widened, "watson must be pleased." indeed, the mouse was - at the mention of his name, he nearly bounced off altair's shoulders, if he hadn't moved to accommodate watson's sudden movements. "ah, we are dragon hunting? very well." that could be his plans for the day; after all, he hadn't any.

Alyssa placed her hand gently on Amon’s head when she stopped, signalling him to do so as well as Lance introduced himself to the man with the Pichu. Though she had moved, she had not missed the prided reaction from the electric mouse. It made her smile a bit more, glad that she spurred such a reaction from the yellow rodent. If she spurred a reaction like that from any pokemon with her words, she would be happy.
Altair Cooper of Lake Valor in Sinnoh, huh?
She narrowed her eyes slightly in thought. The name was familiar. She’d become more associated with it once she gained the rank as Hoenn’s Leader. His family was a main supporter and benefactor of Nox’s cause. The family was well-known amongst the higher-ups in the rebellious organization. Although they were known for their siding in the war and how they stood on the issue, there was no telling how each individual member held their views. For now, the only thing that mattered was that the man before she and the Dragon Master was Nox.
Best for him...
The antics of the Pichu upon Altair’s shoulder had almost caused him to hop right off, had his trainer not made a move to accommodate him. The white-haired trainer gave a small nod, letting her smile grow a bit at the thanks. ”He does appear to be quite pleased, the compliment was only true.” she told Altair before turning to look at Lance at the sound of the Champion’s voice.
”I’m a bit surprised that a Regional Leader of Nox has enough free time to be wandering around here looking for fairy tales. Of couse I can understand your fascination for the dragons of lore.”
If Lance didn’t understand a fascination with dragons, Alyssa didn’t have a clue who would. Legends, on the other hand, had always fascianted her. She had opened her mouth to respond when Lance continued, moving towards the tower.
”Nothing like a full moon for dragon hunting.”
Smiling some, Alyssa followed, with Altair close behind, sounding as though he had not been planning on dragon hunting in the first place.
Amon moved beside her, his white fur rippling and turning silver in the light of the full moon hanging in the night sky, just as her white hair was. Putting her hands into her pockets, she blinked repeatedly to try to get her eyes to adjust to the darkness of the towers interior, seeing as she could hardly see more than a few feet in front of her.
”Regional lore has always fascinated me, and you would be even more surprised to know how much time I actually have on my hands.” It was true, too. She got her work done relatively quickly, and otherwise actively participated in Nox like any other member, having practically the same agenda aside from some more serious matters that only she dealt with.
