Attempt to Mediate
Alyssa couldn't believe that the Battle of Village Bridge had only been week and a half ago. The memories from what she experienced in that battle were fresh in her mind as though she'd only fought it yesterday. However, the only thing she reminding her that it had been longer ago was the pull of her skin when she agitated the burns on her arms, face and back. Also, the sling holding her arm in place as well as the swathe clamping it to her body served as a decent reminder as well.
"Daybreak..." Alyssa murmured to the Espeon, who was perched in her trainers lap. "...will it ever end?" The Sun Pokemon made no sound, but instead turned slightly and pressed her forehead against her trainer's. The pair closed their eyes and retreated to the safety of their own minds as the quiet breeze rustled the branches of the trees surrounding Lake Valor.
~Don't focus on the future right now, Alyssa..~ Daybreak warned, using telepathy to contact her trainer silently. ~Do what you can as you are, then focus on the future. The future cannot be dealt with unless you deal with the present first. The Veteran Trainer sighed, tilting her head forward slightly and allowing her hair to fall to the sides of her face.
Today, she hoped to attempt to mend a relationship between two of her friends that were, too, friends. Given their differences in loyalty for this war, she had an inkling that a rift had driven down their relationship. However, she hoped it could be mended easily enough. Just like a wound... she placed her free hand on the side of the sling, keeping her forehead against Daybreak's. ...it needs time.
All she could do until they got here, though, was wait, and remain sitting on the stump as she was.

Somehow, Pearl liked being up there, able to see the world for what it was - beautiful. Even in this day and age, when people fought and killed for their own beliefs, the earth was still a wonderful thing. Then again, it was also much easier to be on the ground, where Boreas wasn't in complete control of his fate. Usually that wasn't so much of a problem for Pearl, but as of late the Staraptor had become uneasy and somewhat irritable. The boy supposed it was because they had had a close call the last time they'd battled; even so, having the bird flinch every ten seconds while they were flying was as close to a near-death experience as he'd like to get.
"Come on, buddy, calm down," |
he tried, tensing as the bird stiffened and lost a bit of altitude. "There's no Lux around for miles, and we're already here anyway." Sure enough, the glittering surface of Lake Valor shimmered gleefully at them, as if remembering their brief meeting years ago. It occurred to Pearl then that he hadn't been back there since that day. A grin spread across his face. All the better to get reacquainted. "Mm... Yep, there's Alyssa. On time as always," he said, and clutched the patch of feathers between Boreas' shoulder blades. "Alright... Now, let's just land slow this time--" He didn't get a chance to finish. Boreas had begun a very quick descent, apparently eager to get out of the sky and onto the ground where he was at least able to get back into his pokeball. Ignoring the fearful yelling of his trainer, the Staraptor approached the ground quickly, pulling up only yards before he hit it head on. The rest of the landing was slow enough, the bird's powerful wings keeping them both hovering for a moment before gently setting down. Pearl lost no time tumbling off after that, and lay on the ground clutching his chest as if he'd almost had a heart attack. Boreas only shuffled back and forth, eying Alyssa and letting out little squawks of nervousness. After a few seconds, Pearl reached for Boreas' pokeball and quickly returned his pokemon to it in a flash of red light, still lying on his back in the grass. A long exhale escaped him, and he looked over, grinning. "I told you he was fidgety!" Slowly, he sat up, pulling his legs closer to him and resting his crossed arms on his knees. Another long exhale, this time apparently to slow his heartbeat. His eyes floated from Alyssa to her pokemon. He waved. "Hey Daybreak!" This was his usual routine - greeting the pokemon, anyway. Pokemon were people's partners, so why shouldn't they get a hello when someone shows up? That was his stand on things. Brushing some grass out of his hair, his grin reduced itself to a friendly smile and he shifted his attention back to Alyssa herself. "There I was, happy that I'd get to see you again," he laughed, "and planning a dramatic entrance... I think that was dramatic enough... for a week or so, really." He paused, musing. "So, what's up?" [/style] [STYLE=border-bottom: 10px solid #548B54; color: #66FF66; font-size: 30px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: -1px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; font-family: georgia; line-height: 11px; text-align: right; width: 403px; margin-top: -16px; padding-right: 12px; text-shadow: #080808 5px 1px 1px;] OUT OF CHARACTER ✗ [/style] [STYLE=border-left: 10px solid #548B54; color: #EBEBEB; font-size: 9px; font-family: verdana; text-align: justify; width: 405px; background-color: #333333;] ✗ TAGS: alyssa ✗ MUSIC: i'll meet you there - owl city ✗ COMMENTS: i'm running on the assumption that boreas is just nervous because he nearly got shot the last time he was out of his pokeball. other than that, idk - pearl is now perhaps 10 yards from alyssa i think [/style] [STYLE=color: #EBEBEB; font-family: arial; font-size: 9px; text-transform: uppercase; text-align: center; margin-bottom: -20px;]template by darkee of btn.[/style]

Fearful yelling made Alyssa blink open her eyes in alarm and look up, the Espeon in her trainer’s lap mirroring the human. A pair of cerulean and large violet eyes turned to the sky, and saw a quick descent of a Staraptor with a familiar figure on its back. Upon touching ground, the blond-haired trainer bailed out, as though the ground had never looked so inviting. The young man clutched at his chest as though that descent was the scariest thing he’d ever felt, and Hoenn’s Leader couldn’t help but grin slightly. That descent was nothing compared to the ones she was used to coming off of an agile pokemon like Flygon. She recalled the night she and Dragon Master Lance had their battle – it was an invigorating experience to drop like she had. They’d nosedived towards the ground, practically vertically. They used to fly like that all the time, and the thrill she got from it was unmatched. The only way she was able to stay atop her pokemon was his strong grip on her legs and her arm tight around her neck.
”Guess we should go say ‘hi’, huh, Daybreak?” The Espeon made a small sound comparable to a purr in her throat before leaping off her trainers lap and to the ground. Straightening the strap of her sling, she shifted her position and stepped down from the stump, smiling when her friend spoke. ”Hey Pearl.” she grinned some at the young man as she approached him. Daybreak gave a small, happy cry when he greeted her and waved her forked tail with pleasure as she ran up to him and brushed against his legs, arching her back as she did and curling her tail around his pants and leg.
”I’ll say that your entrance was quite dramatic…” her grin widened some. ”You remind me of somebody else I know, actually. He flew in to one of our meetings and attempted to jump off of his Xatu and land, but instead wound up getting a face full of earth in an ungraceful roll.” the white-haired Leader laughed some at the memory of Gold. It had been so long since she’d seen him last, and she missed him.
”It’s good to see you again, too.” She hesitated for a brief moment in stride before stepping quickly to him, pulling him into a one-armed hug, hooking her right arm around him and tugging him closer in the brief hug. ”It’s been too long, you know?” she asked with a grin before stepping back and looking up for him. ”You’ve grown too. Arceus, you got taller…” The last time she’d seen the blond boy he’d been around her height. Just went to prove how rapidly teenagers shot up.

He stroked her back a couple of times, then looked back at Alyssa. His smile faded considerably when he saw the sling on her arm, and he blinked a few times trying to process that information. Someone hurt her... Anger rose in his chest for a moment, but within a few seconds he brushed it away and returned to his usual happy demeanor, listening to Alyssa's story about a boy who had managed to do something like what he had just done.
As she finished, he pushed himself to is feet, careful not to step on Daybreak. "Yeah, well..." he said, rubbing the back of his neck as he straightened up, "I wasn't prepared, heheh." True enough, Boreas was usually a smooth flier, and he hadn't flown on him in battle yet. Maybe it was time to try that anyway, or at least when the bird had calmed down a bit...
He was still thinking about this, sort of not paying attention, when Alyssa threw her one uninjured arm around him. It took him by surprise, so he was still for a moment before returning the hug. It occurred to Pearl now that he was much taller than her... Last time he checked, they had been the same height. But how long ago was that, again? Too long... It seemed like he hadn't seen much of anyone since this whole thing began. Too little. Come to think of it, he hadn't seen much of his father, Palmer, either. His mind wandered to Platinum and Diamond briefly, and he had to force himself back to the present. He missed them all... but Alyssa was here. For now, that would do.
"I guess I had a bit of a growth spurt," he laughed. "Or did you shrink?" Pearl added the last bit with a little playful smirk.
When they parted, he motioned briefly at the sling, concern in his eyes. "How did that happen...?" This was one of the things he couldn't stand about this war. People and pokemon injuring others for something that didn't even need to happen in the first place. Even worse was having to pick sides and essentially choose who you were going to have to hurt.
So much pointless fighting.

Alyssa smiled a little as Pearl spoke, nodding some as he acknowledged the growth spurt before letting faux-annoyance flash across her face at the small joke he made of her shrinking. ”Very funny.” she said, only a half-smile crossing her face. Placing a hand on her hip she gave a disapproving – though not all too serious – look flash across her face. He reacted the same way Volkner had when she first saw him for the first time since the war began. ”You sound like Volkner…” she told him, shaking her head a little before letting the half-smile transform into a bit of a grin. ”He said something similar to that effect, but I gave him an earful.” she flashed him a smile. ”I won’t for you, though, yours was more joking than his.”
She glanced down at her arm in the sling when he motioned to it. ”Oh, this…” she gave a one-sided shrug. Daybreak sat down beside Pearl’s shoes, looking up at her trainer as well. Although she’d already been told and heard it over and over she couldn’t stand the thought of someone harming Alyssa, so she simply wanted to hear how it happened. ”…this was from fighting at Village Bridge.” She gave him a small smile. ”Both of my arms, and face, got burned, this arm was shot and stabbed, and the back of this shoulder was subject to a Crush Claw thanks to Unova’s Eagle-like bird pokemon, Braviary.”
A weak smile appeared on her face. ”This is war, right?” she asked him quietly, a glint of sadness in her eyes. She didn’t like the war at all. She hated the violence and destruction, and she realized she’d become a part of the contributing factor to it. However, it was all to stop the war. ”I’ve fought on the front lines of two battles, and probably will for more to come. I can expect similar injuries.”

His smile faded entirely. The look on his face was of a person looking far away - his eyes transfixed on his friend's cast but mind elsewhere. He hated it that his friends got hurt in all of this. He could handle injuries to himself - he dealt with them. But not only was Alyssa's story disturbing to him; he felt like even though he had partaken in skirmishes against Lux, he was leaving the front lines to others. He knew he wasn't doing it on purpose, just couldn't be there, but... It bothered him all the same. He actually winced when she mentioned the crush claw attack. The worst he'd taken was a surf that nearly drowned him and several others. Some people didn't make it that day...
"Yeah..." he muttered after she had finished, "This is war. But it's a damn stupid one. Hrm..." He brought his gaze back to her eyes, gave her a weak smile. "Sorry I wasn't around."
He waited a moment, then sighed and threw his hands up in defeat. "But, you know, this is supposed to be a get-together, not some angst meeting," he said with calm finality, and looked down at Daybreak. The boy seemed to think for a moment... then reached into the bag on his shoulder and removed a small ultra ball from its pocket. A quick toss and the ball sailed through the air, landing in the grass some meters away. In a flash of red light and golden fur, a Ninetales pranced forward, its nine writhing tails reflecting a surprising amount of light from the pokemon's sleek coat. Pearl motioned for him to come, and the fox pokemon trotted toward the small group, head tucked low and level with Daybreak's.
"I forgot to tell you I caught myself a Vulpix," Pearl said, scratching the pokemon behind the ear as it sat beside him. "Vector was quite the challenge... At any rate, he hasn't gotten much down time, so I thought I'd let him meet the lovely Daybreak." He actually hadn't brought all his pokemon - Boreas, Vector, Ingen and Fang were the only ones with him at the moment; the others were tucked away in his PC. He wouldn't even have brought his rookie Ninetales if not for the fact that Vector desperately needed downtime after fighting almost non-stop since he'd been caught. Even as he spoke, Vector eyed the Espeon, ears back but otherwise showing more signs of curiosity than hostility. He uttered a quiet wuff before lying down and "crawling" closer like a scolded pup. Pearl laughed a little, though it was less "happy" than it had been before Alyssa had told her story.
"You know..." the boy started, still watching Vector wriggle slowly toward Daybreak, "I've got a feeling you wanted me here for more than just catching up, Alyssa." He said it with no commitment; Pearl could tell that there was something else up. He'd like to believe that they were just there as friends, and they probably were, but... There was something off. He couldn't quite place it... "There's nothing wrong, I hope..."

[style=font-family: tahoma; line-height: 14px; letter-spacing: 1px; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify;]This time, Platinum flew low when she passed the Nox towns surrounding Lake Valor. Chomp stayed shy of anything approaching civilization, and now the treetops grazed the garchomp's stomach as he approached the lake. Maybe they were being over-cautious, but considering the last time she'd cruised past Eterna City without a care in the world she'd been shot down and captured, Platinum wasn't too interested in a repeat performance.
To be honest, she hadn't wanted to come. Platinum considered Alyssa an old friend, but time changes people--and even if time didn't change people, war certainly did. It seemed like every time she read a newspaper, the less she recognized the Hoenn leader. When she glanced over reports of Village Bridge, Platinum was surprised to find herself not surprised.
She probably shouldn't judge. Platinum had done her fair share of property destruction herself.
Platinum spotted Alyssa in the distance, rapidly drawing closer now, her white hair was hard to mistake for anyone else except Aris, go figure. She couldn't make out enough of the other figure--blonde, slim, probably male--until Chomp pulled to a stop before them, dust settling in his wake as he settled a cautious length away.
Platinum pursed her lips in controlled disapproval. She was beginning to suspect that Alyssa hadn't exactly called her here for matters of war.
She ignored Pearl as much as she could--which wasn't much, but the glare she shot him was mercifully brief. Her expression fell only a tiny bit short of a glower, and the smile she gave to Alyssa could've frozen over hell. "You have about thirty seconds to tell me why I'm here. If I don't like what I hear, I might just ask Chomp to have a merry little crunch session with you two, and that is a warning."[/style]

Although he was the one that asked, the fading expression from Pearl’s face made Alyssa instantly feel guilty for recalling the events that landed her in the condition she was currently standing before him in. Despite the fact she was drastically better than she had been when Gold visited her in the hospital, she still didn’t want to subject Pearl to more than he needed to know. The bare minimum was what she’d given him, and that was clearly bad enough. He was a nice boy – sweet, too. He always seemed to try to smile even if there were negative things going on around him. Like I used to…
A laugh came from her mouth when he threw his hands up and spoke. It was true, too. The ‘angst’ he referred to was already being pushed aside and vanished completely when he released a Ninetales. Alyssa looked at the gorgeous fox-like pokemon with admiration, thinking of the tiny Vulpix she could find around Mt. Pyre. ”Vulpix can definitely be difficult, “ she agreed as the Fox Pokemon lowered its head to Daybreak’s level. ”They’re known to be stubborn and tricky if they don’t think the trainer working with them is experienced enough to handle them, but clearly you’ve done a good job…and gotten a Fire Stone to evolve him to boot.”
She smiled at her friend and watch the interaction between their pokemon. Daybreak gave an inviting trill to the curious Ninetales and stepped forward, sniffing the crème-white fur of it, not daring to touch the other pokemon until it returned her invitation by sniffing her as well. ”I actually did want –“
She was cut off as she sensed the approach of someone else. She glanced out of the corner of her eyes, but turned instead when the figure that created a small ‘thud’ upon the ground turned out to be larger than she expected. Platinum had arrived, and her Garchomp stood cautiously away from the two trainers. Platinum clearly was unhappy with the situation, though Alyssa didn’t let herself grow unnerved by the less-than-warm look on the younger woman’s face.
”Please don’t do anything rash, Platinum…” Alyssa said easily, turning from Pearl and taking a couple of steps forward. Behind her, Daybreak looked away from the Ninetales and tensed, paying close attention to the interaction between the two friends in case anything went wrong. ”I…requested both of you here out of gut suspicion that the war has…for lack of a better word, torn you two apart.” she sighed a bit and glanced back at Pearl.
”I know it’s not exactly my place to attempt to knit ties between you two, but…” she gave a one-shouldered shrug. ”…when you introduced me to Pearl, Platinum, I practically envied the friendship you two had.” The Leader gave a small smile recalling that day, ”Seeing the war drive a rift between you is something that I hoped wouldn’t happen, but I knew was inevitable…and I wanted to try to prevent that.”
…or try to mend it. Given Platinum’s reaction I think it’s already happened…worse than I imagined she added silently.
Alyssa hoped to Arceus they got her point. Depending on how they both reacted, she would be playing a mediator (hopefully), a pursuer if one turned from the other and fled, or at worst a participant in a battle if one of them did, in fact, attack.

The boy grinned when Alyssa said he'd done a good job in raising Vector. He'd only had the ninetales for a short time compared to some of his pokemon - such as Ingen - but he was already quite proud of how well the fox pokemon had turned out. He was still quite green in the battlefield, but a fast learner. "The fire stone I actually picked up off of a Lux soldier," he mused, remembering the aftermath of that battle. "Poor guy dropped it in a river. Well, sort of. Surf is a powerful thing." |
He shrugged, watching Vector as the ninetales sniffed at Daybreak's fur, all nine tails wagging now. Pearl had to step sideways to avoid the lashing tails. Pearl looked up as Alyssa started to say something, but a sudden flash of color against the green of the forestry caught his eye. The earth-shaking landing made Vector flinch, and instinctively the pokemon recoiled, going into a fighting stance with a surprised snarl. He looked to his trainer, who had abruptly stepped back. Pearl's heart sank as a familiar face appeared over the back of a similarly familiar garchomp. "P-Platinum?" His voice betrayed his surprise, but he said no more than that; the glare his friend - or former friend, perhaps - silencing him quickly. He inclined his head, frowning now, and shoved his hands into his pockets. In all respects, he looked like a scolded child. Vector backed behind him slightly, curling his tails protectively around Pearl as he growled ferociously at the stranger that smelled sort of like Pearl and sort of like an enemy and entirely like someone who could not be trusted. Thus, he was surprised when Pearl muttered a reprimand. "Hush, Vector. Not now." The ninetales looked up into Pearl's eyes and found something uncharacteristically cold. His ears flattened against his skull and he crouched toward the ground, still eying the garchomp nervously, albeit quietly now. They both listened as Alyssa revealed her plan. While Pearl appreciated the effort and wanted more than anything to be able to be friends with Platinum again, he wasn't sure if anything good could come of such a surprise meeting. What in the world had she been thinking? His hand tightened around the only pokeball he kept in his pocket, close as possible to him: Ingen's. The torterra had never let him down, and if it came to that... He hoped his starter would understand what was going on. Usually she did, but... He was unsure what she would think of fighting Platinum's pokemon again, this time as enemies rather than rivals. Platinum spat the last word, as if Pearl's name were some heathen profanity that she didn't dare speak. She was angry already, but even that small smile from Alyssa--that tiny hint of the past, the nostalgia, of when she still had her best friend--stirred every bit of rage, betrayal, that she'd felt when she first cut ties with Pearl. Platinum didn't want a reminder of better days. She set a level gaze at Alyssa, blank and unreadable, before her lips bared a grimace of teeth. She lifted a hand--one that was delicately manicured, as if she'd never done a hard day's work in her life--and lashed out to strike Alyssa in a heavy backhand. "Try to remember that we are not at peace. I had rivals once, now I have enemies. I have no hopes, no idle dreams of mending any rifts of the past. I have better things to do with my time. I have a war to fight, and I do intend to fight it, leader. Don't waste my time again."Platinum spun on her heel. She wasn't thinking clearly, and her garchomp tensed, ready to strike on the increasingly more likely chance that his trainer would command it. Platinum wanted to leave; go home, pretend this day never happened. She'd call Thalia; they could talk about things. Stupid things--things that didn't matter: baby pokemon and radio shows. Maybe she'd bother Lucian and they could whine about Red or talk about books (she hated books). It wasn't like she didn't have other friends now. It wasn't like she hadn't done her best to move on alone. She only managed to take a few steps away before she lost whatever control she had on her temper. "Chomp! Outrage."
Alyssa had had more doubts about this ‘plan’ than confidence even since she first thought of it, but something childishly hopeful and determined made her send that text to each of them. That child-like, and relatively carefree hope had taken her over for the most part over the past five days since Gold visited her in the Lacunosa Town hospital. It was as though she’d reverted to her teenage years where she didn’t act or think her age. A strange phase induced by something that had happened in the Battle of Village Bridge, no doubt, for whatever reason. The doubts she had swam to her mind faster than she expected when she heard Pearl’s voice.
At the young man’s surprised stammer her mind blocked out most any other sound. She saw Platinum’s lips move, and she could only guess what the younger woman was saying. She was no lip reader, and she could feel in her mind that this ‘plan’ wasn’t going as she had hoped, and nor would it even if she tried, though something forced her to have a strangely calm outlook on this, and to try once or twice more to reach out. She saw Platinum’s hand raise, and she didn’t do anything to move out of its way or block it, which she could have done easily if she wanted to.
It was as though she wanted to get backhanded.
Platinum’s hand struck across Alyssa’s jaw, and the white-haired Veteran trainer turned with it to lessen the blow, keeping her left foot planted in the ground while the momentum of the slap forced her to step across it with her right. And I was expecting a punch. she thought, coming to her senses once again, this time the more child-like persona escaping and being replaced by an expressionless mask that seemed to be lacking much emotional input as well. Her eyes weren’t narrowed, per-se, but they had a semi-closed, dead look to them as she stood up straighter. She looked at nothing in particular as she spoke.
”This is just as much a war as the raging battles and skirmishes between Lux and Nox.” Alyssa murmured, her voice quiet, possibly enough so to even escape the hearing of others. ”War is as much a personal front as it is an outward one…”
”Chomp! Outrage!”
…awesome...
”Pearl, move!”
Alyssa did so herself, backpedaling somewhat to leave space between herself and the young man, half-jumping as well for a start until she had her heels against the stump upon which she’d just been sitting, Daybreak right by her side.
She felt Daybreak’s presence within her mind thanks to the Sun Pokemon’s telepathic abilities. Daybreak, Psychic. Just attempt to restrain Chomp, avoid hurting. She told the pokemon silently, not batting an eye or even twitching her lips. She was concerned with protecting Pearl more than anything. She didn’t want to risk the Garchomp’s attack slamming into her young friend on account of her actions of empty hope.
Daybreak’s eyes narrowed, a light blue replacing the deep violet as she turned her gaze to Chomp, the Mach pokemon’s becoming outlined in blue to show the intent of Daybreak’s attack. Nothing happened yet, though, as the Psychic-type pokemon aimed to briefly influence the Garchomp’s mind to direct the attack elsewhere, would it would cause minimal harm to the people and pokemon in the area.

Vector let out a loud snarl, despite Pearl's command, when Platinum referred with angry words to his trainer. This time Pearl didn't stop him from growling; he wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because her anger physically hurt. He didn't move to retaliate, however, and continued to stand there with his hands shoved as far into his pockets as possible; albeit he tensed up quite a bit. His shoulders hunched up slightly now, but at least now he was actually looking at her. She looked so angry at him. Like always, he supposed. He wasn't sure which of them had changed to have made them this way. Perhaps neither of them had. Maybe it was always meant to be like this. He just wished she didn't have to be so hostile about it--
Every moral fiber in him exploded when his former friend furiously slapped Alyssa across the face. "PLAT! What the hell!?" he snapped, hands coming free of both his pockets and Ingen's pokeball. In retrospect, he should have released his torterra right then. Platinum talked about rivals and enemies, inferring that he and Alyssa were now the latter. Pearl glared at her. Somehow all those years of being friends, traveling together, melted. He still firmly wished they could still be friends, but her reaction, especially toward Alyssa... it killed all of the hope that it was even possible. He stepped closer to his white-haired friend as Platinum began to walk away, reached out to put a hand on her shoulder as she mumbled something about war being a personal affair...
Platinum's next words - and the next three seconds - didn't quite register. His hand hovered in the air for a split second; Vector stepped forward, vulpine fangs bared and tails lashing. Alyssa told him to move - or something. He was too entranced with the fact that Platinum had actually ordered an attack on them. Finally, however, he seemed to come back down to earth, and backpedaled quickly. All those years of running made him fast enough, but Vector was still standing in the brunt of the attack and made no move to escape. Flames flickered dangerously from the fox pokemon's mouth as it growled, waiting for the attack. For a moment, Pearl opened his mouth to call the ninetales back, but stopped abruptly.
So that's your plan...
He glanced over at Alyssa and Daybreak. The glow in the espeon's eyes was not missed.
"Alyssa, don't!" he called, not guessing what they planned to do but knowing their intention. Their interference was so unneeded it was crazy. Vector was fast enough to dodge an attack, but chose not to for a very specific reason. They had never tried this in battle, especially not against a pokemon that could very easily crush the ninetales, but it seemed they had no choice. And besides, this was apparently only between him and Platinum. Alyssa was just collateral damage, and he didn't want her to get in the middle of it anymore.
He hoped he wouldn't actually have to ask her to step in. Hopefully it wouldn't get to that point, but he knew Platinum better than she thought he did. He was sure that this would get very messy, very quickly.
Plat was a pain when she was mad.
