She was waiting ... and waiting ... and waiting. She checked the time. I knew I shouldn't have come early. The woman thought with a bit of frown. Maybe she was a bit too excited, and maybe a tad fidgety. It wasn't every day when one meets up with one of Nox's Regional Leaders after all. Not with how things were, even if things were (at the moment) calm. Then again, traveling between different regions was a lot different than traveling around one region. It took time and the lag can be a bit tiring.
She yawned again. Waiting was boring. If only she had some sort of little game system with her to keep her little head bus-- oh hey was that Iris running around again? "Hmm." She stared at them, the child's frame and hair color were similar, but that was were the similarities ended. This child looks a bit more ... tame in comparison. She grinned to herself at that, clearly remembering how Iris was. The young gym leader was as wild as she was a powerful pokemon trainer.
It did remind her how she hadn't seen them around here yet. Sure, she had heard about some shifty things - It was hard not to with the way the city was. The technology that the city was built on can be a bit overwhelming and unnerving to a new visitor. It wouldn't be too surprising for the town to be able to defend itself, if need be. The dragons the town was built on were powerful. Technology was powerful. It wasn't too difficult to put two and two together. It made the city one of the very important places for either of the groups to capture.
She stretched. Pulling her arms back, she grasped her hands together and heard a few popping noises in her back. The sounds continued, now from her arms, as she stretched her arms, one at a time. "Mhm." She hummed contentedly, as she finished up by cracking her knuckles. "Much better." The pokemon professor wanted to distract herself from those nasty thoughts, even if just for a little while.

Alyssa looked up at the technological structures that surrounded her. It was unlike anything she’d ever seen before, seeing as the last time she was here she'd run blindly through Opelucid to simply challenge the Gym Leaders...like any other place in Unova. ”Wow…” she breathed, her cerulean eyes filled with the light reflecting from various buildings as the rising sun glinted off of their sides. ”This place…it’s so different…” she said quietly, not having much of a care if somebody walking by happened to overhear her. Truthfully, she was only speaking her thoughts on the city that was practically all new to her. It really is quite something… she thought, becoming aware of just how used she’d grown to the more natural appearance of some cities in Hoenn – Pacifidlog and Fortree in particular. Figuring that she would be relatively safe in the ‘neutral’ region of Unova, Hoenn’s leader had decided to keep her normal appearance, and not try to hide any trademarks she had – i.e. her surprisingly white hair.
Where was I supposed to meet her again..? the Veteran trainer wondered, realizing that the unfamiliar city had sapped her immediate memory. She thought for a moment before it came to her. ”Oh..! Right..!” she exclaimed quietly, taking off down the street rather quickly, her hands in her pockets. Her head was turning from left to right relatively quickly as she was both trying to take in the new surroundings and look for the designated meeting spot – the fountain in the southwest quadrant of the city, if she remembered correctly? After weaving quickly in and out of streets and alleys between buildings, Alyssa spotted the bubbling waterworks she was looking for.
Nodding some to herself, she walked quickly in that direction, glancing at all the passing people. Even the citizens of the unfamiliar city seemed different. I’ll have to check out the other cities in Unova while I can… she thought to herself. Isn’t Dragonspiral Tower just west of here? she wondered. I should check that out, too… The sun moved out from behind a cloud and the white-haired trainer moved a hand to shield her eyes as she walked around to the far end of the fountain. There stood a woman with light brown hair, someone Alyssa recognized from various pictures she’d seen here and there, mostly over the news for one reason or another. I hope I’m not too late… she thought, biting her lip as she picked up the pace.
Once she got within earshot, she spoke, smiling some. ”Hello? Professor Juniper?” It had been a while since she’d met up with a professor of any region. Now that she had arrived fresh in Unova – without the faintest clue of where to go – Alyssa figured that there would be no better person to tell her about the region than the professor, whom she’d been directed towards from other references.
Coming to a stop, Alyssa spoke again. ”I hope I didn’t make you wait too long..”

The pokemon professor whirled around upon hearing her name. It must have been the gal she'f been waiting for, the infamous hoenn leader of nox, Alyssa Akiyama. She blinked, not quite responding at fist since, well, she looked so cute! Now she didn't quite hear that! If she were any closer, the dear professor wasn't quite sure whether to give her a hug or a pat on the head. (Then again, the woman was just a few years her junior! Who would like those sorts of things at their age!)
Instead she gave a casual wave of a hand, "you're actually an hour early." The pokemon professor grinned playfully. "Rumors really don't do you any justice." She commented idly, "here I was waiting for another wild child hellfire." A wandering set of eyes trailed over the snowy haired woman casually (not at all mock lecherously, arceus no! She was an esteemed professor after all! She couldn't risk such a scandal over a jest!)
"Then again, I probably shouldn't get on your bad side." She chuckled lightly, pulling her eyes away to look at the city. The metallic shine of the buildings around them was unnatural, the construct of Man.
Remembering her manners, she held out a hand. "Let's formally introduce ourselves to one another, shall we?" Although her tone was light hearted, as was most of her speech, there was something about the way she had spoke that seemed to press on forward, as if wanting to get rid of all these formalities. Perhaps it was because it was a bit redundant since they already knew each others names. "It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Aurea Juniper. Most know me as Professor Juniper." It was rushed, yes, but it did hold a touch of grace to it, as difficult as it must be.
She waited for Alyssa to decide to shake her hand and introduce herself before speaking once more, "How do you like Isshu so far?"
notes: lol it's all good. Look how rushed mine is. c8;;

Alyssa straightened as the pokemon professor spun about, turning to face her. The woman was her senior, and she hoped not to appear too untidy or…in a sense, ‘trainer-y’. Alyssa had noticed over the years that most trainers – particularly the younger ones – dressed incredibly casual, and their clothes were almost always splattered with dust or mud, and riddled with grass stains from their ventures on and off the beaten paths which they walked. She remembered when she was first starting out – she took every trail off the normal routes and paths that she could find, determined to explore and learn her surroundings as quickly as possible. She’d had more than her fair share of falls, slips, skids, etc. and her clothes had become caked with dirt ground-in to the seams. It was a wonder anything she owned had lasted as long as it did.
The professor waved and Alyssa let a smile grow on her face some, and she listened to the woman before her, admittedly relieved that she was, in fact, early for their meet-up. She was paranoid about being late when it came to meeting someone for the first time. Otherwise, she felt as though her obsession with making a decent first impression had past its critical stage, and she could be more lax around a person. ”Rumors really don’t do you any justice. Here I was waiting for another wild child hellfire.”
Alyssa snerked, her smile automatically cracking into a grin of amusement. She raised a hand and placed it in front her mouth, laughing behind it. That was a term she hadn’t heard in a while, but she had to admit it would have been quite suiting for her during her teenage years. She managed to contain her laughter as she opened her mouth to respond, only to close it and let Professor Juniper finish, suggesting a formal introduction.
The white-haired Veteran trainer nodded some in agreement as she clasped the professor’s hand in hers. Aurea…that’s a pretty name… she thought, smiling some. I wonder if it would be considered rude simply to call her ‘Aurea’…I know we’ve only just met officially but it’s not as though I’m a younger starting trainer.. she thought silently, figuring it best to stick with ‘Professor’ until otherwise mentioned.
”I’ve been looking forward to meeting you, Professor…” Alyssa said, holding a pleasant expression. ”As you know, my name’s Alyssa. Alyssa Akiyama.” she stated, before adding silently. Though you may know me by other names.
Hoenn’s leader looked at the buildings around them for a moment before answering politely. ”It’s quite something, really…” Alyssa said, almost in a slight state of awe. She put her hands in her pockets and looked around for a moment before looking back at the professor. ”I’m used to more natural-looking buildings.” she told her, thinking of Hoenn. ”But it’s definitely something I wouldn’t have wanted to go without seeing..for real rather than a first glance.”
She maintained a relatively calm expression for a few seconds before chuckling again, this time closer to a full laugh at Professor Juniper's earlier words. ”It probably wouldn’t be smart of you to get on my bad side, no…” she agreed before adding, on an even lighter note. ”But…I’ll have to admit that I haven’t gotten ‘wild child hellfire’ before. Although now I must say I'm curious as to what ‘rumors’ you speak of.”

Aurea was glad that Alyssa was more at ease. There was really no reason (in her mind) to be nervous. They were two full grown women, not children. It didn't appear to matter to her that she was a infamous professor of the Isshu region. At their age, they should be on even footing for greetings. Alyssa even held quite the rank!
"Mhm ~ " The professor tapped her chin lightly as if in thought. Her, erm, sources weren't exactly reliable. It was more like hearing about the disaster in olivine. The person who had torn down the lighthouse was no other than the woman before her. It was sort of from that rumor she'd come up with the whole phrase. They had to be some sort of hellion cat to breakdown the old monument without regrets. "Well," She began, deciding to choose her words carefully. "There are just things a professor knows!" She gave the ivory haired a light pat on the back. "Don't think on it too much!" She laughed heartily.
Once her laughter subsided (which was actually rather quick) she placed her hands on her hips. "We should get you started on learning all there is to know about Isshu." She reached in side her coat and pulled out a pokeball. The translucent red and white shine was the same as it was in the other regions. She clicked the button and held it in such a way so the bottom half of the pokeball fell to open. A stream of light came forth. "This is Minccino." She introduced as the light began to form into the pokemon once held within the confines of the pokeball. The ears were first to show and he shook the rest of the light off him. The theatrics of the pokeball's invention was annoying to the little bugger. "He's a normal type pokemon." "Minccino!" He called, looking somewhat confused.
Oh, right, she'd forgotten to tell her pokemon about this little meeting, whoops.
At least he didn't run back towards her. The chinchilla pokemon was far too proud to do something silly as that. But, he did look up at Alyssa, staring at her curiously. There was no other pokemon around, and he was not at their home. Aurea had better pokemon suited for this thing, he judged. But, his trainer appeared to have thought otherwise. "Go on." She pressed him.
"There's three different starters here that I usually give away to new trainers." Juniper continued, but she wasn't going to let them out just yet. Not until she got Alyssa's response to the poke!maid. If she was right. There was bound to be some fun.

Alyssa smiled some as Professor Juniper spoke. She tucked some hair behind her ears to pull it more off her face. For the first time in a while, Alyssa had parted her hair and tied it in two ponytails at the base of her skull, as she had when she was younger. Now, though, she pulled the locks of hair over the fronts of her shoulders rather than the backs. For one, it gave her something to run her fingers through with her hands if she found the need to do so, and secondly it gave her a more ‘grown-up’ appearance than that of a teenager, which she’d managed to receive on occasion before in the past few years – when she was most definitely not a teenager anymore.
Just things a professor knows, huh? the thought was amusing, and the Veteran Trainer let it show in her eyes, the tickled feeling lighting up her cerulean eyes a bit as she looked at the Professor. It was when the woman opposite her spoke of starting her brief education of the region that Alyssa’s gaze turned more attentive, and she turned to face the Professor, hands in her pockets to pay attention. She followed the movements of the Professor’s hand intently, not missing a seconds-worth as though she was a predator stalking prey. Although she was only withdrawing a pokeball from her coat, it didn’t matter to Alyssa. The determination to learn about anything related to pokemon had only grown stronger through the years, and now it was more controlled than it had been (luckily!) when she was younger.
If it werent, then that was just one more thing Alyssa would have been able to add to her list of child-like characteristics that were still present, boundless enthusiasm for certain topics already being on said list...that would only add to it.
As the pokeball opened, Alyssa looked down to the small figure that was revealed from the red beam of energy. ”This is Minccino” The silhouette of energy started being replaced by the pokemon’s natural coloring. ”He’s a normal-type pokemon” As the full details of the chinchilla-like pokemon came into view, Alyssa felt her jaw drop slightly, and her eyes widen childishly. He was...so adorable! Alyssa managed to maintain herself until Professor Juniper finished her introduction to the starter pokemon, which Alyssa assumed she would see sometime in the near future.
”Arceus!” she said, managing to keep her voice relatively quiet and the squeaking to a minimum. She crouched down, perching on the balls of her feet, sitting on her heels with one arm crossed over her knees. ”He’s so cute!” Alright, so, her voice squeaked more there. Normally, Alyssa tried to maintain a tough-ish exterior that showed how strong she was, or potentially was, but when it came to certain, fluffy or furry pokemon, she was a sucker for cuteness.
Holding out her right hand, she extended the black-gloved arm slightly to hold her fingertips near the Minccino for him to sniff, not meaning to startle him. ”Hi Minccino....I’m Alyssa. I won’t hurt you, I promise...” she told him softly with a smile.

She cracked a grin. The professor knew that Miniccino would be a favorite. It seemed to be popular among many of the trainers in Isshu. Most of those who had one did not take pokemon battling seriously, nevertheless they were quite favored. The woman chuckled lightly as Alyssa squealed. Now, that's what she was expecting. It didn't matter how old one was to make such a noise and gush over something.
The pokemon professor watched as Alyssa attempted to lure Miniccino towards herself. The grey pokemon, looked to his trainer, who nodded and urged him on, before walking towards her. The pokemon sniffed her fingers lightly, and licked them. "Oh, I don't think you would have to worry about him thinking about that." The professor commented idly. "He's a tad confused that there's nothing to clean." She joked. It was the reason why she kept him on her team after all. A personal maid to clean up after her. "Mi!" The chinchilla pokemon wanted to disagree. He wasn't like the younger pokemon tucked on the professor's belt. He was far more cooler, tougher experienced then they were.
Plus, this wasn't the first time that she had taken him out for this sort of thing, even if he did not fully understand why she did so. To Juniper, the pokemon made the perfect Isshu pokemon to start off with because he was calm and well mannered. No matter how much they were pestered, it was guaranteed that Miniccino wouldn't snap. She didn't have to worry about that with Alyssa, but, haha. Aurea wanted to lead her in to their pokemon a little slowly. She waited for Alyssa to ease away from Miniccino before introducing the others and to the rest of the Isshu.

Alyssa smiled when the adorable Minccino licked her fingers. It was so cute! Just like an Eevee! The white-haired trainer found Eevees to be the cutest pokemon. She had joked with others years back that any Coordinator would be at a loss without an Eevee for a Cute Contest. However, she knew closes to nothing about coordinating, aside from how to make pokeblocks. That much she could do with some skill, mostly because she found the backbone of the ‘science’ behind it similar to how she made pokemon food.
The Veteran Trainer giggled with Professor Juniper’s words. A bit of a clean-up crew of a pokemon, huh? It was quite the thought, although the chinchilla-like pokemon clearly disagreed, expressing his disagreement vocally. Moving her hand to gently pet the top of his head between his ears, the white-haired trainer looked up at the woman before her, realization flashing through her cerulean gaze, coupled with a surprised ”Oh!” She had been so absorbed with how cute Miccino was that she had almost let it completely slip her mind that the Professor probably carried the starters of the region as well.
Alyssa remained perched on the ground, keeping her chin tilted upwards to look at Aurea. ”I...wow. It totally slipped my mind...what you last said about the starters. Sorry about that...!” she said sheepishly, using her hand that was not petting Minccino to rub the back of her neck. ”I guess I got a bit thrown off topic..” she laughed nervously, letting a grin sit on her face.
”As far as the starters go, I would assume there is one of Grass, Fire, and Water-type, just like any other region?” she asked mildly.

"A little." Aurea admitted, chuckling a bit.
But she didn't let Miniccino back into his pokeball. Instead, she made a clicking sound with her tongue, and the pokemon quickly reacted. He jumped on the professor's arm before leaping again to rest on her shoulder. "Heh. Shall we?" She said, looking to the grey pokemon. "Mini!" They chimed in response.
In it hands, a pokeball was revealed. He'd nagged it from her belt as he climbed up her coat. She pulled the other two from her coat. Pressing the button once for it to expand in her hands, before letting the capsule open and release the pokemon inside. Quickly after the two beams of light were finished, she pocketed the two pokeballs and Miniccino dropped the one he carried into her hand. It looked almost effortless how the smoothly the transition went. Within seconds, the three isshu starter pokemon were out of their pokeballs, all staring at Alyssa expectantly. They looked at her and then back to the professor. It was clear by their expressions that they were confused as well. "Now, now. She's not your new trainer." They blinked as if asking for more of an explanation. She waved it off, ignoring them for now.
"This one here is Snivy. The grass type. They're a grass snake pokemon." The pokemon puffed up their chest in response. Even though they were still a tad confused, they were easily complying to her intros. They really had a sporadic trainer. "Right beside them is Teipig. Our fire type. They're a fire pig. Now, don't be making any jokes about that. I hear they have fried chicken on your side." She winked. Teipig, however, didn't seem to appreciate the joke, sending short puff of smoke towards her that Miniccino easily took care of. "And the last one is Oshawott. Water type. Sea otter." Unlike the other two, this one was still on their bottom, looking at their surroundings. They did manage to wave when called on though.

As Miniccino returned to Aurea, the Veteran Trainer rocked slightly back on her heels, having flattened her feet against the ground momentarily off the perch on her toes. Her momentum carried her back forward soon enough as she watched the exchange between professor and pokemon. Alyssa smiled a bit. Everything was executed so smoothly as though they’d rehearsed it many times. I suppose they have done it many-a-time for the young trainers coming to get their first pokemon. The white-haired trainer had a certain appreciation for pokemon and humans that were in unison with each other through hearts, minds, and spirits, but also for movements based on rehearsed patterns that had been developed through the years. She believed it showed the bond that had been forged between that human and their pokemon companion.
The maneuver ended with three beams of red light being shot out from pokeballs, taking the forms of the three basic pokemon that served as the starters for Unova. Alyssa’s blue gaze moved between the Professor and each pokemon as she introduced them, and she offered each a friendly smile when they looked at her in turn or wave, like the Oshawott did. Once the introductions were done, Alyssa looked at each of them and repeated their names quietly, committing them to memory. ”Snivy, Tepig...” she held her left hand between the two, though a bit in front of them for to sniff if they so chose, ”...and Oshawott.” she held her right hand equidistance from the Fire Pig and Sea Otter pokemon, a bit in front of them as well.
”So...interesting...”
She couldn’t prevent herself from murmering the words, the curiosity at pokemon she’d never seen lighting up her gaze as though she was a young child about to obtain her starter pokemon. ”Any trainer is lucky to have one of you...” she told the pokemon before her, before looking up at Professor Juniper. ”They shine with health, I’d expect no less from a Professor.”
Looking back at Snivy for a moment, Alyssa tilted her head slightly in thought. ”You know, though they look nothing alike, Snivy reminds me of Treecko...the grass-type starter from Hoenn...” she glanced to her left hip, where a pokeball sat that contained that very pokemon...quite recently obtained as well by a stroke of luck when she saw a lone one wandering on the small peninsula which held her Secret Base. ”I’m not quite sure why, though...” she said, almost to herself, letting her gaze move back to Aurea before the pokemon again, trying to see what likeness to Hoenn pokemon she saw in them.

Alyssa couldn’t help but chuckle a bit as well at the Snivy’s reaction. It seemed offronted at the suggestion that it reminded her of anything, possibly something that it considered lesser than itself? Prideful creatures, possibly? Alyssa wondered, looking carefully at the Grass Snake before looking at the Tepig and Oshawott as though to compare them. It seems to have that subtle air of a suggestion towards that personality type... she guessed, mostly through comparing its body language, expressions, and reactions to things. Almost like a Salamence... the white-haired young woman mused. They are prideful Dragons...proud of their power and long-sought dream of flying...
With Aurea chuckling as well, Alyssa was pleased to know that she was not the only one with that reaction to the Snivy. ”Heh. Perhaps it is because they are known for their pride.” Alyssa instantly smiled a bit, a bit pleased with herself for guessing that much, despite the fact it had been just that – a guess. The pokemon nodded in agreement, and that amused Alyssa further, although she made better work of concealing it behind a simple smile rather than an audible chuckle.
”I’ve heard that Treecko can be the same way, but I haven’t visited Birch in so long.”
Alyssa almost missed the Professor’s actions completely when she heard mention of Birch. She was automatically thrown into her own memories. It had been so long since she’d seen the kind professor, too long, really. She’d made a point to visit him on her trips between Regions while on her journey, but it had still been a while. She would always remember the Professor for many reasons – the most prominent being that he was the one to give her her starter pokemon, her dear Mudkip (and now Swampert).
”Now then. Shall we move on? Or am I moving too fast?”
She called the pokemon back to the safehaven of their pokeballs and Hoenn’s Leader stood, shaking her head. ”Not at all...” Alyssa replied cheerfully, unable to resist letting her eyes wander around Opelucid City. It was as though she’d never been in it before, and it was practically true. She’d only dropped in for minutes to battle her way through the Gym, not even an hour. ”Treecko definitely can be the same way...” Alyssa greed quickly, showing that she had not completely missed what the Professor said. ”...though the one I have on my person now isn’t exactly the best example of that.” she laughed a little. ”If youre interested, I can show you him later?”
She gestured slightly to Professor Juniper, continuing. ”But pleaase continue first, I’m eager to hear more.” she said, her eyes sparkling with anticipation much like a younger childs would.

it seemed that minccino was not going to return to his pokeball. the grey chinchilla was, well, chilling on her shoulder as the professor spoke. it was intrigued. besides, there wasn't any danger having the pokemon flutter around while neither nox nor lux were prominent groups in isshu (at least at the moment).
"mhm ~ maybe after the history lesson, i could see him?" in truth, she wanted to skim over this part because she never found it too particularly interesting. yes, starters were rare. but perhaps it was the fact that she constantly took care of three that made them less appealing? besides, opelucid city was a big place. there was lots of things to see and to fight for. that's what they were here for right? not comparing pokemon - as much as she rather do that than discuss war.
isshu was going to be dragged into this war, so it was best to pick a side and support it fully. neutrality will only cause more destruction in the end, as much as she wanted to avoid the war. she cleared her throat. "well then, let's get started, shall we?" she signaled for alyssa to follow her.
"you already know this, but the city we're in is opelucid, famous for mixing the past and future together." she looked at the mechanical houses, their doors don't open as regular ones do. instead, they were far more like the pokemon center's sliding open. "dragons -especially the ones from our legend- are famous here." she smiled. "another name for the town actually means azure dragon or two dragons." minccino shifted his position on her shoulder, she was wobbling too much for comfort. "but, other than the legend, i guess it could be from the two gym leaders that live here. both dragon type users." as a trainer, she wouldn't be too surprised if alyssa had been secretly wanting her to talk about that. although, her silence could have meant she already faced them? if so, she was a bit behind then. tut, tut, we might actually have some free time.

Alyssa glanced around Opelucid as she followed Aurea eagerly when directed. No matter how many tiems she looked at it she couldn’t get away from the feeling of amazement and awe that filled her. She wished that she’d paid more attention to Unova now when she had the chance to learn about it on a number of occasions in the past. I wouldn’t seem so clueless... she mused. She made a mental note to brush up on the history and lore of regions she was less familiar with – Sinnoh and unova and particular.
”The meaning behind Opelucid’s name is interesting,” she began, answering the Professor in respose. ”...does it have anything to do with the Dragons mentioned in Unova’s Legends? I’ve only heard a few to begin with but...” she let her voice dwindle off and shrugged despite the fact the Professor couldn’t see her. The white-haired trainer shoved her hands in her pockets and jogged to get more parallel with Aurea, turning her head to look up at her. ”Dragons are amazing pokemon. It takes a talented trainer to truly realize their potential and harness it as power.”
Alyssa thought of her Kingdra and Flygon at the mention. She’d caught both of them before they developed their part-Dragon typing, but she’d worked with them because they sparked her interest when she was debating whether to catch them or not. Flygon as a Trapinch had been a stubborn and devilish, while King as a Horsea had amused her by sqirting her with ink. ”The Gym Leaders here...how long have they both been working with Dragons?”
Alyssa was aware that Iris was rather young, but Drayden on the other hand wasn’t. He seemed comparable to Drake of Hoenn’s Elite Four in terms of age and most likely experience as well. ”I would assume Drayden has more experience than Iris? Is he along the lines of her mentor?” She was very familiar with the sort of challenge the Gym Leaders presented, but no more than that.
