[/i] Kakashi thought glumly to himself. Still, he couldnt complain because he was on a mission..a solo one at that. It actually gave him something to do, and left him alone with his thoughts for a good amount of time.

He was getting deeper into the forest and the sun was starting to sink behind the trees which surrounded him. "Pakkun...stop for a moment..." the Ninken obliged and sat down neatly on a branch about 5 feet away and watched what Kakashi did. Kakashi swiftly pulled out a kunai and slashed it across the tree. If he was going to get deeper into this maze as he headed Northeast, then he may as well make it so that he could find his way back. He also brushed his sleeve across it so that if all else failed, Pakkun could help him out, or he could use his nose. He looked down to Pakkun, about to nod when he saw the Ninken scratched the branch to leave a mark as well. It was easy enough to fake a kunai mark, but not dog scratches. "Good thinking...lets go." Pakkun voiced his agreement and they leapt off again. They continued for a few moments in silence, they were starting to near the place where the reported 'bandits' or outcasts had been spotted.

Kakashi never got to finish his thought. He made a sharp inhalation and stopped abruptly, gluing his feet to a branch with chakra as he let himself fall backwards to the underside. Looking up, he saw five kunai latched in a tree, and Pakkun had leapt back. "They were right on top of us, yet they smelled farther away. Theres only two of them, and they are not from Kumo. Looks like Raikage was truthful and the Chuunin must have been too full of adrenaline to see right." "Well that settles things and makes my job easier..." Kakashi responded. Drawing a kunai, Kakashi looked around. A swishing sound met Kakashi's ears for about a second before he leapt atop the branch. He had seen the shuriken fly towards his face just a second before he leapt. The hell...? Kakashi wondered Why would outcasts go attacking Konoha shinobi in the Land of Fire? Do they have a deathwish? he asked himself, as he also noted that the kunai was probably aimed for his eye...to 'blind' him to all these outcasts could see of him.

However, Kakashi hadnt heard anything since the barrage of weapons had been thrown, which tipped him off to their locations. Bad idea on their part not to move, so it would be easy to do so. Clearly they couldnt be too advanced if they didnt think to move after giving away their position. Thinking quickly, Kakashi formed the single seal needed for the jutsu, and said "Kage Bunshin no Jutsu..." and felt the minute difference in chakra leaving him to form the shadow clone. He and the clone moved simultaneously, both taking a reel of string from their hip pouches. Kakashi sent the clone off in the direction the shuriken had come from, while he looked at Pakkun "Stay here...and dont get hurt..." he said. He didnt like ordering Pakkun around, but it was a swift order for a swift time. Leaping off in the direction of the five kunai, he put his plan into action.
