Alyssa sighed a bit as she supressed her yawn. Although she was no stranger to waking up early, if she had restless sleeps the night before it was a bit of a task that she greatly disliked. Hoenn’s Leader had been called an ‘Early Bird’ before but in truth she never made a point to wake up before others...she simply relenished her energy on smaller doses of sleep than others, and was able to stay up for longer without suffering from exhaustion...immediately at least. Unfortunately, though, last night she had not made a point to stay up. Instead, her sleep was restless. Riddled by fits of dreams crashing over her that resembled the events of the past week, she had gotten little peace. She’d felt ill more than once during the night and found herself in a cold sweat that was only cured by her pacing and diverting her mind.
No dobt the Canalave Innkeeper that had housed her for the night thought that something was terribly amiss, as her room was directly below Alyssa’s and the wooden floor creaked with every step the slight, white-haired Leader had taken. Shaking her head, Alyssa continued on, pedalling the useful, collapsable bike she’d bought from Rydel years ago. Though she’d needed to take it in for maintinence more than once in the ten years she’d owned it, it had never failed her. It folded up nicely as needed, either to be transported or hidden until needed. Rydel’s ingenius designs never cease to amaze me... she thought, smiling a bit, spotting her destination on the horizon.
Sunyshore City.
On a normal day, people would have told her she was absolutely insane, venturing into a Lux-controlled City alongside somebody that had been driven from that City – her friend, the former Gym Leader of Sunyshore Gym, Volkner. Their meeting yesterday in Canalave had proved to be a place to plot. Although recent events would have made a weaker-minded person run and hide in their house, it only increased Alyssa’s gutsiness (somehow). After revealing to Volkner that she was an expert lockpick, he’d become incredibly interested and wished to learn the trade...start to, at least. She’d promised to teach him, and she couldn’t deny that she’d ‘helped’ him suggest they try breaking into Sunyshore’s Gym.
It was a bit of a suicide mission, but it wasn’t as though they were trying to take the Gym.
Not yet, anyway.
Volkner would be able to use the skills he gained in today’s lesson in the future, if he gained the means to storm Sunyshore and reclaim it. If they were lucky, the locks on the Gym would remain unchanged, allowing Volkner – whose memory served him in something like this, given his interest in mechanics – to use the knowledge in the future.
Although Volkner probably wouldn’t do much to disguise his appearance, Alyssa had donned her false identity. With her name becoming well-known through all the regions for more reason than one, it had been appropriate for her to adopt such. Now, she was clad in medium gray-blue suit and pants with faint chalk-stripes, dark leather shoes, a white shirt, violet tie, glasses, and to top the look off she had a short, brown wig. She looked like a teenage boy, and complete with her false ID card, she had assumed the guise of Wolfgang Mienrad. Hopefully Volkner would recognize her, for she hadn’t informed him that she would do this.
It was a bit of a last-minute decision, anyway...
As she pulled into the entrance of Sunyshore, she stayed mostly behind the large pillars supporting the first leg of the upper path of the City. She leaned her bike against a the rocky wall that had been carved to be a bit of a bike rack, and locked it in place.
Walking forward, hands in her pockets, she leaned against the picket fence bordering the sea...not quite in front of the Pokemon Center, but near it, as they’d agreed.
He will be here soon...

He was relaxed. It was a rarity in itself to feel the total limber feeling of having no stress. Sure he still had the nagging feeling in the back of his mind whenever he sneaked in the Lux city of Sunyshore. No, not Lux's city. His city. He refused to look at Sunyshore as Lux's property. If anyone was to claim Sunyshore it should be Volkner. He'd struggled through his years as Gym Leader to make Sunyshore what it was today. He'd stamped it with his electrical advances. Sure Sunyshore had had its own signiture mark but Volkner had made it better. Adding the futuristic feel that the citizens loved. Now, he was pushed out of the city he had worked so hard to make and forced to the outside limits of the beaches. Ursula, his peppy little Octillarly, was spalshing and playing within the water with happy trills and giggles.
Volkner was content sitting on the shore, already dressed for his little adventrue with Alysssa today. He'd started here at the crack of dawn to simply relax before he started towards Sunyshore Gym for a bit of a lockpicking adventure. He'd been quite interested the day before in Canalave when Alyssa had mentioned the hobby had been been brought up. He was very interested in a mechanics and such and the hobby seemed like a beneficial one to use when tinkering with electricals or some machine. Looking up at the sky he saw the first patches of light. They would need to move soon. Although he was slightly dressed differently, walking around Sunnyshore too much was indeed dangerous. There were still citizens who would recognize him and the city was crawling with Lux. THat only added tot he excitement though. VOlkner was sure between the two of them they could smash anyone who got in their way though.
"Ursula. Come on. You've played enough. Alyssa will get mad if we're super late." Volkner said pulling out the Octillary's pokeball and waiting for the red octupus to come within distance. Alyssa probably wouldn't get super mad if they were late but it did complicate things more than they needed to be when you delayed being in the city. Ursula swam towards him and waited patiently. Volkner, giving a curt nod and watching as she was enveloped in red light hooked the Pokeball back to his waist.
He wasn't dressed as he had been yesterday. That would be a dead giveaway. Normally his black shirt, black pants and signiture blue jacket were an easy sign to pinpoint him when you were looking for him. Usually it had been a good thing. But with the war now, it wasn't the most safest or easies thing to deal with. He was dressed instead in a black tanktop under overalls that had the tops rolled down as to give him easy access to move around and not be contricted. A pair of aviator goggles laid upon his head as well. He looked like any normal mechanic. A hot one too -- Cici
He started off to the place where Alyssa was to have mentioned. Volkner wondered slightly if she'd have some sort of disguise. She was a Nox higher up but he didn't know if she was well known enough to have to hider her face or appearance. Walking along the streets he stuffed hands in the pockets of his overalls and whistled a tune as he made his way to the spot. He got there and made it seem like he wasn't all particularly in a hurry to get anywhere. He had to admit he was a bit confused when he saw a teenage boy. He had brown hair and a simple white shirt and black pants. Volkner wasn't sure what to do quite exactly. Had someone found out and Lux set up a trap? Had some kid messed everything up and Alyssa had fled instead.
"The breeze is a bit unexpected today isn't it?" Volkner said with a wary glance to the boy. He'd have to wait and flee for his life if this wasn't Alyssa.

Tapping her shoe against the stone sidewalk, Alyssa sighed. Hopefully Volkner wouldn’t be too late to their meeting. He didn’t seem to have too much of a habit of being late to meetings – unlike Steven – but yesterday he’d had her waiting for a few minutes. It’s not as though I can blame him for unforseen events that popped up, if any. Although she wouldn’t ask, she was curious. Being a fairly punctual person herself, the reasons for which others were late always fascinated her. If somebody was consistently late (beyond of course a few minutes) however, she would grow annoyed fairly soon with their antics. Volkner was lucky. It was unlikely she’d grow annoyed with him any time soon, even if he made it a habit of being late.
I’ll just get bored if I stay here too long... she thought sighing a bit. Raising a hand to mess with the bangs of the brown wig on her head, she yawned some. Just get here soon...
As though he had heard her silent, slightly exasperated thoughts, the yellow-haired Gym Leader entered her line of sight. Looking him up and down, head to toe, she had to say she was impressed with his outfit. Were he not an old friend of hers, she would have flushed at the sight of him, as the folded-over overalls and black tank top made him rather attractive, in her opinion. Not that he’ll ever know that... she thought a bit dryly, preferring rather to be discovered by a Lux agent than tell him. Alright, so maybe I wouldn’t prefer it to that extent, but still...
It didn’t hit her for a moment to re-realize that he probably wouldn’t recognize her until she spoke at least. She could tell by his expression that he was trying to mentally decide if he were willing to chance acquainting himself with somebody he thought was a strange, teenage boy that happened to be in their meeting spot. If he thinks I got scared off by a kid I’m going to have to ask him to re-evaluate his impression of me...if I got scared off by some kid that might be Lux I’d be an embarassment to Nox...
Hoenn’s Leader tilted her head up slightly to meet his gaze, her blue eyes making contact with his over the rim of her glasses as he spoke. Giving him a small smile, she responded easily with the correct words to answer the ‘safe’ code they’d come up with yesterday. ”Yeah, it is. It’s quite shocking...”
She let that set in the air for a moment before grinning a bit. ”Nice ‘mechanic’ look...” she complimented, approving easily of his choice of dress. ”Though I do prefer the jacket...” Alyssa informed him, referring to his signature blue overcoat.

Volkner was glad when he realized that the person was indeed Alyssa and gave a breath of relief. He was not used to conversing with others in Sunyshore. It wasn't somehting he did anyway. Conversing. He was getting better he hoped, but he knew he was still having problems keeping a conversation going when it needed to be. But not being in a very good undercover costume Volkner was a bit more worred. He sighed and pulled the aviator goggled down over his eyes to shield the brigh blue contact lenses he wore. THat was a secret of course that no one knew about, not even Alyssa. Hell not even Flint. He'd had this look for so long that no one knew he'd been a kid with longish brown hair and green eyes. THe worse color combo ever no one had paid Volkner any mind. So when starting off on his journey he'd made sure he'd made himself shocking. People would notice him, people would see him. People would be like, hey there's Volkner.
Thats who he'd made sure he was. Volkner looked down at his clothing and let the old workboots scuff against the ground. "I dont normally wear this unless dealing with heavy electrical sites. Like the Gym. There are a lot of booby traps I put in there to keep Lux out. It's highly dangerous so this outfit is useful for camoflouge and saftey. You'll probably want to stay back once we pick the locks. Lux took the key from me since the security isn't very tight. THey havn't even got a city official yet. The idiots." Volkner said with a angry scowl. If something happened to his city he would hunt Lux down and make sure to send so much electricity through their body they would be twitching as if they at teretz until they were 80. Shaking his head, Volkner turned to Alyssa and nodded. "Thank you for the compliment though. I'll keep it in mind." Volkner said with a cocky grin and looked toward the Gym. "Well, Teacher, shall we get started. You do want me to learn some skills after all dont you?" Volkner said giving her a small elbow to the side to make it seem as if they were pals that fit in with the city. They were old friends, but not the kind their outfits called for. Volkner pulled together his acting skills and even feigned his voice a bit. It wasn't necessary but Volkner liked to dot all his I's and cross all his T's. Just to make sure there weren't any mistakes. Mistakes could be deadly. Mistakes could hurt your life.
"So the panel to open the gym is going to be on the side. The doors should automatically open if they're unlocked being automatic doors and all. Thats how most Gym's are. They used to be different. But overtime I've been able to spruce up the electrical systems and all." Volkner said his voice matter of fact and not bragging at all. Really it was all about convienence. Trainers could get in and get out. It was also a easy way to lock the gym doors. usually with a flick you could turn the doors off and they wouldn't open. The only problem was. Only the Gym Leader had the key to open the panel. Volkner didn't have that Key anymore. So he'd need Alyssa's help.
"Think that would be able to work?" Volkner looked to Alyssa with a raised brow.

Sunyshore would be Volkners one day. That was something she had promised him and intended to stay true to. Alyssa Akiyama did not break her promises to anybody, for any reason.
Hoenn’s Leader stayed silent as she listened to her friend’s statement. First he was informative, but his tone quickly slipped to angry. It was understandable – Sunyshore was his pride and joy, not just his home City or the City he was once upon a time a fearsome Gym Leader of. Investing the time and effort into it for so long, then having it ripped from his grasp was worse than taking candy from a child. It was worse than stealing. It was like taking a piece of a person’s being (in this case, Volkner’s) and hiding it away from them…at least until they got it back.
I will see to it that he gets his City back… she promised herself, looking up at him as he hid his eyes behind a pair of aviator goggles. Clearly he knew how to dress for this because he knew what they would be doing after she taught him a bit about springing locks and grating on the nerves of Lux officials. What the hell is this? she questioned the rebellious streak that flared up within her. It was as though she’d been plunged into her teenage years once again, her more rowdy and unrestrained side coming through – not something of one of Nox’s five Leaders that had a public image to maintain. Get a grip, Alyssa. she told herself impatiently.
Alyssa shared her friend’s grin as he received her compliment well enough. She heeded his words and reached into her pocket, pulling out a zipped leather case that could have passed for a woman’s wallet. It was the correct size and shape to be such. However, within it was nothing money-related. Instead, there were tools – more specifically, a set of tools specifically for picking locks. ”Let’s get going then, shall we?” she asked, giving him a small smirk before taking off, heading for the staircase upon the side of a rocky face, which brought her up to the solar-panel-lined walkway above half of the city. The other half was elevated.
Alyssa paused as a sea breeze ruffled the wig upon her head, and she didn’t look back to see if her friend was near. ”Volkner…in the fight for Sunyshore, I promise not to take your lighthouse down as I did Olivines…I do not want to repeat those actions if I can help it.” She swallowed and looked down before around at the other buildings on this higher level. It was practically a ghost town. Were Lux afraid of something and hiding in the lighthouse or Gym? Cowards…
”I will keep your words in mind, Volkner…” she told him, as she made her way towards the gym, her shoes making a muted sound as they connected with the solar panel walkway. ”Tell me, what sort of lock does this panel have? Also, does it have more than one lock?” She glanced back in his direction without fully turning around, ”Don’t worry; I’ll let you have the floor when it comes to the electric technicalities.” the Veteran Trainer informed him with a grin.

Volkner nodded to Alyssa's kind words. He had support for getting his city back, this meant the world to Volkner. His city was his existance. This is where he'd put his stamp on life, when he died he meant for Sunyshore to live on and hoped that the people would remember him for making Sunyshore into something grand and memorable. He hoped they would have good memories of their lives in Sunyshore as he had. People critisized the city for their black outs and what not but they had pride. Pride in their city and lives and were not afraid to mention that they loved their sea side city. Not only were they known for being a sea side city but a advanced technological city.
Volkner nodded to Alyssa when she asked about the locks. "Yes, the outside boy has a key that all Gym Leaders hold. As I told you last night. Unfortunately I was forced to hand over the key. " Volkner mentioned walking over to the box. There's a complicated gear lock in there then Sunyshore's usual city wide security system. All I need to get past is the gear lock which I have no clue in." Volkner said with a scowl and the metal key code as he showed Alyssa. "This would be your expertise, Nyx." Volkner said with a grin. as he watched his teacher preform her art. His mind would be memorizing every step, every movement, every word she might utter. He would perfect the art until he had mastered it perfectly. He would perfect it then use it in his career to help Nox, the people, to obtain their goal.
Volkner thought about Alyssa's previous suggestion. Volkner had thought about it the whole night while he waited for sleep to arrive on his doorstep. A Leader? He'd never thought about it, really. He'd expected he'd do a few missions here and there but still have time to travel and gain ideas for his Gym once he got back.

A binding contract. That was something she had just made with her words. It was a strange thing, really, how powerful words were when they were spoken under the right circumstances. A binding contract because she had created a pact between herself and a friend, but also because she would never let herself see a promise she mad go by unkept. That was an utter disgrace, as not being true to one’s word had been in the Akiyama household. Her father would easily take it upon himself to see someone who didn’t keep their word properly punished for their actions (or, in the case of promising to do something, lack thereof).
Alyssa was already digging around inside the breast pocket of the suit jacket she was wearing for the proper tools. Although she hadn’t bothered to pack her lockpicking materials in a nice, neat manner for this excursion, she was sure they wouldn’t fall out of the pocket unless they somehow managed to cut a hole in the fabric. She nodded slightly as he seemed to draw near the end of his speech, taking in the details from what he said and effectively separating what was important and what was not for attempting to pick the lock, maybe even breaking it through forcing an internal malfunction or damage.
”Gear lock, huh?” she murmured, half speaking to him, though half speaking to herself. Those were tricky to deal with, and it took just the right amount of force to make them open. The obvious way to gain entry to the box before them was the electronic keypad offering a primary level of protection, but Alyssa was no hacker. Any half-decent lockbuilder would make two parts – one to be electronically accessed like this, and then another to be manually broken. That would be simple. The gear lock within would be the problem.
”Gear locks are a bit of pain.” she informed with a smirk, looking at the tools she’d pulled out of her pocket that were clenched in her fist. A torque rench, half-diamond pick, double round pick and hook pick were in her grasp. For the outside lock on the box she’d need simply the hook pick and torque wrench.
”Let’s get started, shall we?” Alyssa gave him a smile and crouched, looking up at the lock hanging off the bottom. Placing the half-diamond and double round picks in her mouth, she stuck one end of the torque wrench into the top of the lock, and the hook pick into the bottom where she twisted it a couple of directions to force the lock to click, all the while moving the torque wrench ever so slightly.
”Tha twick to dhis kind of rock is to twift tha infide componentf until dey crick. Juf arot of jiggring.”
If he had understood that, it would be a miracle. She’d have to take the other picks out of her mouth to speak properly, but until he asked she would keep jiggling her tools until the lock clicked which, soon enough, it did.
Pulling the metal out of her mouth, she made a slight face at the less-than-desireable taste.
”Did you catch that? If not I’ll repeat myself,” she gave him a small grin. ”The trick to this kind of lock...” she picked the fallen lock up in her hands and held it, ”...is to twist the inside components until they click. Just a lot of jiggling your tools around, really.”
