Exercising Restraint Mission Post-Battle of Sootopolis
Clinging to Swampert, Alyssa allowed her eyes to wander slightly as they travelled fast and deep beneath the waves of Hoenn’s seas. It was dark, proving the time of day to be late at night, but the Veteran Trainer was wide awake. Her Mud Fish pokemon shifted his position slightly, causing the aura of energy around him to wiggle. It was thanks to this that Alyssa was able to breathe and stay dry underwater while using Dive. They’d swam this rotue many years ago together, beelining straight for Sootopolis City. This time though, there were no intentions of challenging the Gym Leader she was coming back here for a mission that almost nobody else wanted to take, and some lower-ranking trainers in Nox said she should take.
”I don’t want to do this...” she murmured to Swampert, and the blue pokemon shrugged a bit, his orange eyes glancing back at his trainer sympathetically while he continued swimming for Sootopolis at a high speed. Shaking her head, the black hairs of her wig fell against the glasses perched on the bridge of her nose. The person she was meeting up with was the only soul tonight that knew of Hoenn’s Leader’s disguise. She’d gotten in contact with a young member of Nox who seemed quite eager to take the mission, and they’d arranged to meet in order to discuss their plan of action...attacking the Gym.
If Wallace knew, he’d hate me. she thought. Once Nox re-claims Sootopolis, I will personally fund repairs for any damages brought upon the Gym tonight. I will do my best to minimize damage...
Her loyal starter swam beneath the outer rim of the hollowed volcano that made Sootopolis City without hesitation, and the temperature of the water automatically increased as they passed through the invisible barrier between straight sea water and that filling the caldera, making the space around them a bit warmer. She felt the ascent as Swampert headed towards the surface of the water. ”Don’t break surface yet, we need to get to the Western side first...” she told him, and he nodded, levelling out until they got to the side.
He quietly broke through the surface and leapt onto the land in a swift motion, running forward two paces to relieve the momentum with his trainer on his back, who slid off easily. ”Thank you, Swampert...” she said quietly, raising her hand to his head as he sat up. The white dress shirt she wore remained unwrinkled, and the leather arm bands around her upper arms had not shifted at all. The wonders of Dive are astounding... she mused quietly as she adjusted her tie and sweatervest. She passed as a teenage boy, now, and for this mission she didn’t have a problem with that.
Now, just to wait...

― little traveler just traveling to sootopolis city was going to be an adventure. with it under lux control, she had to be careful. of course, she could have taken the "easy" way and blended in with the crowd and traveled there like any normal citizen of nox, but that was boring. and she couldn't be trusted to keep her tongue still if they spoke about how weak lux had been during the battle. oh, she would have blasted them then, ranting about how lux had been towards their fellow citizens. and boom. cover blown.
so, she opted for a "funner" way of travel.
for the third time that night, she checked her laces. in the dark, it was going to be harder to catch her, harder to see her. perfect. she was on the rim of the caldera, having hiked it a long while ago. the part following was going to be a blast. she kicked the switch in her running shoes, causing them to shoot out of jet of air as she literally sped down the inside of the caldera. tamsen couldn't help the wicked grin that spread across her lips as she struggled to keep herself from yelling. horton chased after her, keeping an eye of any outsiders who might spot them (and to signal when she was going to misstep and fall or any other obstacle in the way).
with the way they were going, it wasn't long before she spotted them at the small set of trees as they planned. she touched her light pack, briefly wondering if she should have worn it. horton had said that no one spotted them and she could always trust him ... even though spot might have been a better fitting pokemon to use, considering the region they were in. oh well. she should be focusing on other things, like how to stop.
she hit the switch again and quickly the jet of air from her shoes stopped. horton grabbed a hold of her pack, pulling her backwards to make sure she didn't fall. she waved him off, earning a playful nip on her fingers before horton flew off to keep watch.
they weren't going to bomb sootopolis' gym just yet. there was still a few things that needed to be finalized with her partner, reluctant as they were. besides, rushing into and attacking a lux area (especially one as naturally guarded as sootopolis) was not exactly the smartest thing to do. and she wasn't about to lay down her life for a stupid plan like that.
she walked up to the "male" mentioning some like from a book. "beware the jabberwock, my son. / the jaws that bite, the claws that catch." if he was her partner, then they'd better reply with the next two lines of the poem. if not ... well, she wouldn't hesitate to attack.
notes lol. sociology. at least it's not like mine! "orz btw. lines are from here. the "answer" is the next part. since we mentioned they should have a code, right? edit sweet! posted at 11:11pm. c8 [/style]

Standing silently in the dark shadow cast by the caldera, Alyssa could move relatively freely. Aside from the visible sleeves of her dress shirt she was wearing dark clothes, and Swampert himself was dark in color. Generally, Nox was referred to as the faction that struck from the shadows after laying in wait and Alyssa couldn’t help but think she was doing exactly that. I guess it’s only suitable... she thought dryly, sighing a little as she moved her had against Swampert’s head.
The Mud Fish Pokemon would be highly useful in this situation, and Alyssa knew he’d be willing to help however Alyssa needed. Most likely, they’d need his access to Ice Beam to cross from their small meeting on land to the island upon which the gym sat. Before anything, though, they would plan. There had only been minute details tossed about prior to this, but they needed to solidify their plan of action before doing anything. With any luck I can sway some decisions as far as ‘attention-getting’ goes... she thought, looking up when a small, gutteral sound rumbled in Swampert’s throat. She only saw the brief flash of a silhouette in the moonlight racing down towards their position before it was lost from her sight again.
Running Shoes? Tensing, Hoenn’s Leader prepared for somebody to spring out at her.
However, the readiness proved to be relatively unneeded...for the moment. The figure made her way easily towards Alyssa, with a small bird pokemon flapping about away behind her – perhaps a Taillow? Pidgey? Starly? It vanished before Alyssa could get a solid guess formulated in her mind. Instead, Alyssa turned her eyes to the younger woman approaching her, tilting her head slightly so that a shred of moonlight glanced off of her glasses, whitening the lenses.
Waiting for a moment after the first words – the passphrase decided – were delivered, Alyssa responded. ”Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun the frumious Bandersnatch!” The lines were from a book, but they served their purpose well enough. Alyssa fell silent once again before sighing a bit and speaking. ”Glad to see you made it here easily enough. Running Shoes, I’ll assume?” she shook her head slightly to get herself on-topic. ”...at any rate, we should start discussing our plan of action.”
It was a prompt for the younger Nox member to speak first.

hm. so it was her partner. she walked up to him eagerly wanting to get through with this. they just had to finalize a few things first. randomly bombing the place without consideration, especially someplace like this was not going to be easy. "right." she replied easily, a hand shoved in the pocket of her shorts. (winter and she was wearing shorts of all things.) "so, what 're the plans again?" she remembered them, but if there were any changes to it. then, she wasn't aware of it.

Alyssa couldn’t help but stare at the younger girl for a moment after she spoke. I hope she’s not completely clueless… Alyssa thought, blinking once or twice. Surely she’s joking. As the silence between them persisted, the Veteran Trainer sighed slightly. ”Right, uh…” she rubbed the back of her neck, looking from Swampert, to the Gym, then back at her partner. ”For the most part…same idea as we discussed, but…do try to minimize damage?” Alyssa bit down on the inside of her lip. ”We just need to make a statement to get Nox’s thoughts on having Sootopolis back across to Nox. Massive damage isn’t necessarily the best way to send a message.” she said, silently cautioning the younger girl not to mention anything about Olivine – if she knew much.
”If we’re able to infiltrate just by blowing a relatively small hole in the back of it we’ll be able to enter just fine. In case you’re unaware there’s two levels to the gym – one is relatively straightforward with three levels of artificial snow banks…that’s the lower one. That’s probably where we’d encounter most people.” She thought back to the time she challenged the Gym and fell through Juan’s damn ice floors more than once trying to get to the top in order to battle him. If this was anything like the past, there would probably be Lux grunts crawling about down there. ”The first level is a bit more complicated – it mostly consists of ice. Once we’re inside we’ll need to watch our steps and stay relatively close to the exit in case Pokeballs fly. I don’t exactly want to face a miniature army of Lux members.”
She backed up slightly and placed a hand on Swampert’s back. ”Ice Beam, Swampert…” the large Mud Fish pokemon approached the water’s edge and blasted a cold beam against it. The ice solidified in a straight path from the bank to the side of the gym, reaching out across the water as Swampert raised his head before stopping, the water now between the Gym and where the two young women stood solidified as solid ice. ”Thanks buddy…” she told him, withdrawing him into his pokeball with a flash of light.
”If you have any objections, let me hear them, but we’re starting to move now.” Nodding to the ice, Alyssa stepped onto it, moving slowly to keep her balance and avoid falling. ”Be careful not to slip.”
