Get Revenge, Not Even Post-Battle of Snowpoint
Alyssa was not in a good mood. That much was certain. Any Nox member that approached her would be able to tell immediately that she was not in the mood for Tauros shit or bad reports. Hoenn’s Leader was unhappy with the way things were going, and how her Battle at Snowpoint had ended. Her opponent had been a male – she was sure of that. His greater height and weight had kept her pinned to the ground in a fist fight. She’d been unable to properly defend herself and had suffered because of it. Nox had suffered because of it. Blood that had spurted from her nose, forehead, and mouth thanks to the punches he threw at her. As soon as she felt blood in her throat and tasted it on her tongue she froze, allowing the physical abuse to continue against her petrified state.
Now, her usually pale skin was colored with bruises and cuts. Her forehead had a healing cut on it from where a clasp on his clove had cut through the face max she was wearing, giving her a cut almost bad enough to require stitches. Her nose had been broken and it had been long enough for most of the swelling to go down, though it was still blackened purple from the break. It hadn’t been large, but it had hurt like hell. Finally, along with her cheeks being generally battered and bruised her lip had been split from one of his blows in particular. Her torso as well was bruised, but her face and forearms sustained the worst of the bruising damage.
I’ll kick that kids ass if I ever see him again. she thought savagely. The petrified state she’d been battered into had cost her the battle she’d been fighting. Though the pokemon she’d used had gained the upper hand in the battle and won against her opponent’s, they’d been unable to continue fighting because she was rendered silent. That was humiliating, and something she’d never forget.
Staring into the crystaline water of Lake Acuity, she looked at her battered reflection, her blue eyes narrowed with anger. She could hear the Nox members that had come to the re-group across the lake. She stood near the entrance, on the snow-paved landing between trees. The rest of Nox were on the diagonal across from her in tall grass, going about their various responsibilities.
”Luckily the blizzard as stopped...” she growled unhappily to herself. ”...this re-group would be an egg-hatching pain otherwise.”

It was dawn a couple mornings after the Battle of Snowpoint and Black was out for a jog. He had come down by Lake Acuity to see if there were in Nox down here as they may or may not have won the city, but it didn't mean they coudn't keep them out of the surrounding area. His voice would carry a long distance and Black needed to make sure this girl wasn't Nox before hinting towards her going back to town. As it was not safe out here with members of both factions in the area and that meant they needed to make sure people stayed in their homes. Black trotted up to the girl with his distinctive Emboar at his side. It was hard not to know that this Pokemon was from Unova making it obvious he probably was, too. The boy smiled at Alyssa from behind looking at her reflection in the water. "Hi there little girl. What brings you out here on a day like this?" He asked knowing that it was his duty to guide her back to town no matter who the winner was as it was still very dangerous out there. The sun shown brightly as he smiled down at her. Black was glad to be working for the good of things, with the way this war was going he was glad to be having fun doing it, too. War was gruesome and he needed some down time to do good things. It always showed up good on resumes to have some community service, so what if it was a fib that he turned this in like five hours of service when all he was doing was walking a little girl home and making sure she was safe.

Alyssa started at the sound of a voice so close to her. Anybody else in the general area considered Lake Acuity were on the opposite diagonal from her, hidden from view and sound by the rock formation in the center. She’d been so absorbed in her thoughts that she hadn’t even heard the owner of the voice moving through the hard-crusted snow on the ground towards her. She did no more than flinch a bit to show her surprise, and she did not turn to look at him. Instead, she merely moved her eyes to look to the side, only barely able to see his figure with the slight turn of her head.
”The course of events.” she told him quietly, answering the question he had posed. She stayed guarded and ready for something to happen. Lux and Nox undoubtedly at least had a whif of the other side’s plans, no matter how quietly they’d been exchanged. From where they were standing, the Nox forces gathered on the opposite bank were indiscernible and she planned for them to stay that way until she could confirm he was Nox.
After a moment, she placed her hands on her waist; both as a more comfortable way of letting her arms hang by her sides due to their bruises, and also as a ready stance to pull a pokeball off her belt if needed. Turning slightly, her side faced him but she kept her head straight, only half of her bruised face showing to he and his pokemon, her steady blue eye trained on him. ”Also, you shouldn’t judge somebody’s age based simply on their appearance.” she told him, allowing herself a small smile as though she were gently scolding him. She did a quick, critical sweep of him before looking back up to see him in the eye. ”For all you know, they may just be older than you.”
Given the tone of his voice, the few actions she’d heard him make, his dress, and his appearance, she had a safe bet that he was younger than her, despite the fact he appeared to have gained the genes needed to grow past the point where he could be mistaken for a teenager.

The breeze was blowing still, making things quite nippy, but nowhere near as cold as that blizzard the day of the battle. Black slowly approached closer and closer to Alyssa, just to make sure she didn't try to run. As he was being adamant when he said she needed to get home. This was no place for a child like her no matter what their age was, it was a frickin' battle field out there for goodness sake. He was hoping to not upset her, though as that would just make this be difficult. Black sat on one of the rocks behind Alyssa as she began to speak to him. Good, at least he had been able to get her talking. When she said she might be older than him it came as quite a shock. From behind Alyssa definitely looked like she could be maybe fourteen, sixteen tops. Black smiled at her when she began to turn around, but it wasn't enough for him to be able and tell exactly just how old she was. He hoped somehow he hadn't mistaken her for some like eighty year old lady. That would be bad, but besides crazy teenagers who else was this height and had almost completely white hair? "Might I at least ask who you are?" Black said to Alyssa wanting to make sure she wasn't the enemy. You could just vaguely see what he assumed was some Nox forces on the other side of the lake, but thankfully the fog was making it difficult to see all the way across otherwise he would have never been a good citizen like this. He hoped she would cooperate quickly before his cover was blown. That would not be good with so many Nox over there as they could easily get over to this side of the lake and maybe even capture him.

Alyssa looked down at the water when the young man took a seat. The reflection of the side of her face stared back, the blue-purple black eye she sported glancing back at her with a squinted gaze. The boy was talkative enough for sure – respectful to someone he didn’t know. Was he here on a job? She assumed so. Post-battle, Lux and Nox were both making sure civilians were safe and that those residents of Sinnoh brave enough to venture Northward in the winter that hadn’t gotten wind of the battle steered clear of any tensions that may have erupted.
She contemplated turning to face him completely at the moment. If he was Lux, things could turn out badly. If he was Nox, she had nothing to worry about. However…he was younger than her. Taller and broader than her as well. She couldn’t fare against him physically, but in terms of pokemon she had confidence that she would not fail. She’d become known before her status as one of Nox’s Leaders for her impeccable prowess in battle, then her elevated status only helped to make her unforgiving nature in a battle on the front lines known. Although she wished she could have gained the fame and recognition in a staged battle against the members of the Elite Four of any region with hundreds of spectators, that would have to come after the war.
If there is ever a time we see that light…
Shrugging slightly, she made up her mind and turned to face the young man, seeing him fully for the first time. His face struck a chord within her mind, ringing with recognition. She knew him – he was Black Gamlyn, one of the famed younger trainers of Unova…carving a name for himself in the Region’s history a similar way Ruby had in Hoenn.
”I’m surprised you need to ask.” she told him, the fog behind her rolling in across the top of the water, the blotted out sun shadowing over her figure slightly. ”Can you honestly say you don’t recognize me?”
Though her voice was calm, she was tense and ready for anything to happen if he was, in fact, Lux.

As the water reflected her face more and more Black could slowly begin to get wind of the features of the girl. She looked to be around his age, just very petite in size meaning she probably was going to be stuck like that for life. He had a wide grin on his face hoping to not scare her away as that would just end up with him getting negative press. Black honestly had no clue who she was at the moment. With what he was able to see it was hard to tell, if only she would turn completely around so he wasn't just staring at a reflection trying to contemplate who this was that he was talking to. From the way things were going he could only assume she was Nox as no Lux supporter would venture out to the Lake after a battle like this. Especially when Nox was right on the other side and could strike at any moment. Black figured it'd probably be best to leave her alone and let her be, but first he wanted to get some information out of her if she was a Nox member. "If you were to turn around I'm sure I'd know who you are in a heart beat," Black said with a cheekiness in his tone almost being cocky with her. He might as well stir things up and then quickly escape when her other Nox comrades began to get involved. This was such an invigorating moment and he couldn't wait to see how it ended up as Black loved drama. He also loved to piss off Nox, though with his crazy, jacked-up antics. There were many times when he just wanted to be like haha, in you face, I'm so much better than you. That would lead to having a bad reputation, though and therefore he didn't do it. Maybe he could get away with a sassy I'm better move here and get to have a good laugh about it with all of his Lux comrades once he got back to a base to report about the happenings of the battle. That was when she did turn around completely and Black racked through his memory who she was. From what he could think of she had to be pretty high ranking. "Are you Alyssa?" He asked chuckling at the thought of her seeming to have a similar frame and stature to the Nox girl he had beat in the battle. Though there were rumors going around that she had a twin and for that maybe he fought her twin as what high ranking Nox member would lose in battle?

”Are you Alyssa?”
Alyssa couldn’t help but smirk a bit at his question. Clearly, he didn’t have much knowledge of Nox higher-ups, or else he would have recognized her sooner than he had. Her face, though bruised and cut at the moment, was more than likely in a bingo book of sorts among Lux members. She was one of their greatest threats as it stood, and one of the Leaders of the faction that opposed their ideals. Maybe he’s knew to the whole game… she thought, the voice within her head uncharacteristically snide and degrading. That was a clear indicator to her that she was not in the greatest mood. However, unfortunately for Black, he was the potential target for that to channel.
Going by his actions, she had deduced that he was Lux. Were he Nox, he would have recognized her even sooner than if she were Lux. The fact that he seemed to have entered this area after noticing her led her to believe this even more so. Although that was more questionable than the former clue, she stood by that assumption. However, she did not outwardly react or show her deduction, instead she responded with words to his earlier question.
”Nice guess, Black…“ she said, revealing that she too knew his name. ”…but I am a little disappointed that you hesitated for so long before asking.” She quirked her eyebrow in a faux-offended manner, sighing silently, ”Surely, I would have assumed that you could recognize someone such as myself. I guess that goes to show that I shouldn’t assume, though…” Alyssa told him.
If he was going to attack her for confirming her identity, then so be it. She would be ready for him.

Black just stared at Alyssa. He couldn't believe this was who he was talking to. There had to be some reason she hadn't attacked him yet as she was like Nox leader and he was a high ranking Lux member. Maybe they would just part ways, though, that'd be good as Black didn't know how to handle this as the slightest move could set her off. He was coming to the realization that she was the one from the battle. Thinking of his opponent's characteristics, she sure fit a lot of them. "How do you know my name?" Black asked Alyssa with a questioning look on his face. There was a brief pause as he took in what Alyssa said. Why would she think he would have recognized her sooner? He just then saw her face and well, it wasn't that pretty... Black wanted to get out of here as she was starting to creep him out. "I guess you shouldn't assume," he snidely replied. Might as well get her angry and get himself known for toying with Alyssa. That would be an awesome title. The Sentinel that screw Alyssa over. Black could so see himself doing that. Then, he might as well not leave because this battle could be great! Even if they had just battled a few days before, though Black was still unsure as it might not have been Alyssa. Anyway this would be a fairer battle, not as much funny business going on. That meant they'd be able to have a real battle and see who was truthfully the better trainer. Black knew that would be him, of course as they already saw how he was the better fighter in the battle.

Alyssa’s eyes narrowed slightly when he inquired about her knowledge of her name. Really? she silently asked. You need to ask to know that? Surely you’re not so out-of-touch with things in this war that you wouldn’t expect me to know your name? A slow expression began to crawl its way onto her face, pulling at her lips as he spoke again, this time with a more snide air than he previously had. So, he was gaining confidence for one reason or another it appeared. That or his arrogance towards something was just bursting through his skin and the relatively neutral mask he’d kept until she confirmed her identity.
True colors will be shown… she reminded herself as she opened her mouth to speak.
”Really, Black? You need to ask how I know your name?” Her lips curled into something that could be called a smile, but her eyes were uncharacteristically cold, a harsh light glinting in them that bordered on heartless and almost even savage. ”Pathetic.” That single word summed up her thoughts about the younger man so far. ”Do you honestly expect someone of my rank not to know the identities of a well-known trainer from one of the regions? Please…” her lip curled slightly at the comparison she was about to make, thinking Black nothing beside the person she was about to mention. ”…your name is right up there with Ruby’s from Hoenn.”
The white-haired Leader straightened, drawing her free hand up slightly and placing it on her hip as well as the other, so she now stood in a stronger position than before, hands on her hips and eyes narrowed, as though she were practically waiting for him to bark a challenge or spring at her like she was some sort of prey. ”That’s right.” she told him coolly, her voice laced with a mocking tone. ”You should never assume. It might just get you killed one day.”
That being said, she was more curious about this child than she allowed to be seen. He seemed familiar in a way. His height – though he was sitting down – and build registered in her mind as something she’d seen before. Had he, Black, been the soldier that had physically beaten her into submission in their battle? Her jaw clenched at the thought, though she said nothing to give any of her thoughts away.
”So, Black, what will you do? I stand here before you unmoving, and yet you sit there? Is that all your intentions have in mind, or are you too scared to do anything?”
She heard a faint voice in her mind going ‘what the hell is with you?!’, but it was ignored by the unfamiliar and less likeable side of Alyssa that was being displayed now.
