Date of Birth & Age: September 23; thirty years old
Marital Status: Single
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Base of Operations: Generally Kumogakure no Sato, but, wherever the Raikage is (literally)
Physical Appearance:
Build & Weight - Muscular Athletic; 163 pounds
Hair - Shaggy White-Blond hair that covers his left eye.
Eyes - Black
Distinguishing Marks -
[li]"Water" (水) tattooed on his right shoulder, and "Lightning" (雷) tattooed on his left.
[/li][li]A large, jagged, deep scar that runs halfway across the right side of his stomach and winds up his side under his arm, branching off about halfway across his right pectoral muscle.
Clothing - Darui’s attire - minus his own individual touch or two – is very much like that of other Kumogakure Jounin. The most noticeable points of his outfit include dark, loose-fitting pants that fall to his mid-shins, and a typical, strap-over-left-shoulder, white Kumogakure Flak Jacket. The pants are nothing special. The jacket is a bit of an off-set in comparison to his pants, seeing as it is light gray in color. The jacket has both a zipper and button to keep it in place. The button clasps the shoulder strap to the main body of the jacket, while the zipper is seen on the right side of the jacket only, almost directly beneath his arm. However, it sits slightly forward, so it sits more on the outside edge of the curve of his ribcage rather than just beneath his arm.
Beneath his jacket, Darui wears a black, high-collared, sleeveless over-shirt that zips straight up the center. The collar rises to about his earlobes, and completely encircles his neck and jaw, save for the front of the collar. The shirt cuts into a V-shaped dip starting at the sides of his chin. The “V” ends at the top of the zipper, which is just below the line of his collarbones. Beneath this over-shirt, Darui dons a sleeveless, tank-top-esque shirt that consists primarily of lightweight chain-mail “netting”*. Darui also wears bandages around his wrists, a habit he has kept since he first learned how to use a sword.
On his back, Darui carries a broad, foldable, cleaver-like blade in a beige, animal-skin pouch that straps over his right shoulder and beneath his left arm, meeting in a clasp in the center of his chest. Just below this, strapped onto the back of his right hip, he wears a shuriken/kunai pouch. Lastly, he wears a pair of typical shinobi sandals that are black in color.
*= similar to what Jiraya was seen wearing when he revealed the scar on his chest to Tsunade, Yamato, and Kakashi.

- EASY-GOING & MELLOW :: Darui is a rather relaxed person, and this fact is often made prominent by his constant, almost lazy expression (although he is anything but lazy). Not much bothers him, select few things do (apples being one of them). He is very laid-back about almost any situation that doesn’t require his utmost attention. When someone important to him is in danger or upset, he will do all he can to help them. That is one of the things that will set him in an all-serious mode. Otherwise, though, he tends to treat almost anything, even a fight, as though it is a game or a time where he can have some fun with what he’s doing (if he is given the luxury of such. If not, he fights as though lives depended on it most of the time).
- STRONG-WILLED & HEADSTRONG :: Though it is not often seen because Raikage is the one giving orders, Darui is a fairly headstrong person. He has a habit of wanting things done the way he wants to do them, and will often not like taking "no" for an answer, unless the "no" comes from the Raikage. Due to this, he tries to give his input in a pre-set strategy laid down by someone else whenever possible (though particularly for battle plans – he is quite the strategist). His attitude towards others giving their input has noticably lessened as his age progresses and he continues to mature as a shinobi, but it will flare up once in a while. Also, another aspect that high lights his willpower is the fact that Darui will not back down from a fight unless he knows he cannot win, is ordered to by a shinobi he respects, or it places his teammates in danger. His large amount of chakra allows him to continue fighting for a long time, and also use a number of high-leveled techniques without tiring too easily.
- LOYAL, PROTECTIVE & CARING :: This part of his nature is less obvious, but it is well-known by those he spends a good chunk of time around. Darui would give almost anything to protect his village, but most often he has no need to, because he is able to defeat opponents quite easily. Also, when someone important to him (like Shi, Killer Bee, Team Samui, or Raikage) are in danger, he has no qualms about putting himself at risk to save them. This caring attitude of his is something that sets him apart from Shi, who is often more concerned with fulfilling Raikage’s orders before anything else. (Darui will attempt to both fulfill Raikage’s orders and help others in equal time). Darui’s loyalty to the Raikage and Kumo are unwavering, and he will do anything for the village or its leader.
- ON THE STINGY SIDE :: Darui is not one that could be called "in love with money" but he has a notable reluctance to spend it. There are few times where he will willingly spend his money for comforts like a decent hotel when needed, and those are often few and far between. Though he makes decent money as Raikage’s right-hand man, he prefers to let it accumulate in the off chance that he will need a decent amount all at once, but other than that he prefers to spend it on himself, and occasionally a few friends. Also, he figures that he'd be bad in the ‘dating spectrum’ of things because of this reluctance to spend much on others except himself.
- DEMOCRATIC LEADER OF SILENT AUTHORITY :: Through his missions, Darui has gained an adeptness for leading people. He prefers not to bark straight-out commands, but rather let his squad or team help decide what the best plan of action is (even though he often makes sure his input is heavily considered/accepted into the plan). He will often toss in a backbone for things like this, and let the team members build off of this so that they dont stray too far from the original plan (normally his). Also, Darui has an air of intelligence and leadership about him that often give people the impression that he knows what he's talking about, and it would be best to let him lead the plan of action. However, there are those that Darui has some difficulty with when it comes to following through with his orders or plans. When this is the case, he does what he can to insist his plans are the smartest choice for the situation.

EARLY LIFE & ACADEMY YEARS
Darui’s life began thirty years ago on a stormy day in Kumogakure no Sato when he was born to Sayomi Micheru and Kenichi. When Kenichi learned that Sayomi had delivered a happy, healthy son, he was elated. Having a son meant that he would be able to teach the child how to use Ranton techniques. Upon looking down at their newborn son, who soon thereafter first opened his eyes, they named him “Darui” for the tired expression he wore and how it was made apparent by his half-closed eyes.
Darui’s first six years of life were fairly normal. His parents raised him lovingly and selflessly, helping him become the shinobi he is today. When he was seven, his mother died in an ambush of enemy shinobi on an important mission. Darui did not hate the shinobi, declaring that they were only doing their job, and that good, honorable shinobi did not kill unless it was a necessity. Darui entered the Kumogakure Shinobi Academy when he was eight years old, and graduated when he was eleven years old. His time at the Academy was not as smooth as it could have been, but then again, what sort of child doesn’t have enemies or rivals? Passing the three portions of his graduation exam (a written test, a basic Ninjutsu test, and a spar against a fellow student) with flying colors. Overjoyed at this, Darui managed to contain his excitement until after he received his white Kumogakure forehead protector and the name of his sensei - Ikkoku Kyoushi* with explicit instructions to meet at sundown the next morning on the Northernmost mountain in Kumo.
* = I have no idea what the Third Raikage's name was. It was never mentioned. I'll just refer to him as Sandaime from this point.
THE TEST TO PROVE ONE'S WORTH
When evening finally came, he rushed off to the Northernmost mountain in Kumo, as instructed. The first person he saw was his sensei Sandaime, there was no way Darui could have missed him. His sensei’s jaw was set in a scowl and his dark eyes seemed to rake through Darui as soon as he arrived, judging him on the spot. Darui was almost too petrified to say anything to his teammates – two kunoichi named Shigure Takahashi and O. Before they could do anything besides look each other over and create first-impression opinions, Sandaime snapped their attention to him with his gruff voice ripping through the silence. He instructed them to each give quick introductions stating their name, strengths, and main goals as a shinobi. Looking at each other, Darui nodded to Shigure and O to go first. “My name is O. I’ve already learned how to use two basic Genjutsu, and I want to be the best Genjutsu and sensory-type kunoichi Kumogakure has ever seen.” “I’m Shigure. I like weapons. They’re useful in almost any situation. I’ll surpass my mother and become the next Weapons Mistress of Kumo.” Finally, it was Darui’s turn. “Well, this is dull...Call me Darui. Taijutsu is what I seem to have taken to, but Ninjutsu is easier for me to get a hold on. I’m going to learn the secrets of Ranton techniques from my father and clan to become a Jounin the Raikage will be proud of!” Each of the introductions received a near-stonefaced reaction from Sandaime who took a moment before introducing himself. “I am Sandaime. I am proficient in the use of Ninjutsu, Taijutsu and Genjutsu. Your fate as shinobi rests with me. I will determine if you are worth training from here on out. You have until sunrise to meet my expectations. Use this mountain as range for whatever you might do. Begin!”
The three genin did not even have a chance to process what had just been said before they all found themselves hurled by the ankles into the side of the mountain by their sensei, who had clearly made no effort at all to throw them that far. For hours after the initial onslaught, until about four in the morning, Shigure, O, and Darui worked separately, trying to each take their turn at their sensei's defenses. Though he proved to be an impenetrable barrier, the students decided to try one more course of action: a group attack. Meeting in a small cave near the peak of the mountain, Darui led the two kunoichi in putting together a plan that would soon be put in action; Shigure was to make a trap for their sensei, while Darui and O were going to lure him there as a relay tag-team. It went smoothly for the most part, until their sensei caught up with O after Darui had escaped. Sandaime got his hand on the side of O’s neck seconds before she dropped to the ground and lay unmoving. Shigure, having blown her cover, darted out from behind the rocks, which was her mistake. Sandaime was on top of her in a flash, and flung her, too, into the side of the mountain, dazing her long enough for him to grasp her ankles and wrists in his massive hands, and carry her at an arms length while he picked O’s limp body up and slung it over his shoulder. Struck with the paralyzing realization of how terribly his plan had failed, Darui could do nothing but watch as Sandaime walked to the edge of the mountain and hold Shigure over, his unwavering fist still clenched around her joints. Turning to look at Darui, he shouted “This is my judgement so far! The fate you are staring at, Shigure, would be more merciful of me than letting you humiliate yourself in front of the other villages calling yourself a kunoichi, same goes for O! You, Darui, have seemed asleep practically this entire session! Let’s see just asleep you are while you watch her fall through the clouds, with your bulk soon following!” That had done it.
“What sort of shinobi do you claim to be?!” Darui had demanded from his sensei. “Shinobi are meant to be honorable, not as lax about holding the life of another shinobi in their hands as you are! Leave them and fight me yourself, or I will show you what it means to be a shinobi! Let her go, now!” A roar of laughter met his ears in response to his brave words. Sandaime threw his head back and continued to laugh until the air left his lungs. “You’ve got guts, kid, but how can I be sure you’re not just all talk?! Bring it!” The challenge filled Darui with a determined fire that gave him the courage to charge down head-on at his sensei, who had his hands full, seeing as he had a kunoichi in each arm. Darui managed to inflict a small cut on the side of Sandaime's jaw before he moved quickly to a safe distance to place O and Shigure on the ground. Then he lunged for Darui, punching him away, into the range of the explosive traps.
When he came to, Darui found Sandaime smirking at him, arms crossed. Shigure and O had come to as well, and seemed relieved when Darui woke up. Sandaime crouched before them, and looked at each of them in turn, his eyes softer than any of the Genin had though they could be. After explaining their strengths and weaknesses from his observation, Sandaime clapped them each on the head, ruffling their hair as the sun rose behind him. “From this day forward, you all – Darui, O, Shigure - will be known as Team One, and your Jounin sensei is me, Sandaime. I will train you all to reach the fullest of your potential. Now go get some sleep, and be ready for the real training tomorrow.” Stunned by the turn of events and his sensei’s attitude, Darui simply grinned before the group departed to the village.
GENIN YEARS
Having succeeded in earning Sandaime's respect and being deemed worthy of his skill and time as a Jounin to train them up as Genin, Team One began their training immediately. Darui's skill, knowledge, and physical prowess increased dramatically in the time he spent training under Sandaime with Shigure and O. Within the first three months, Team One had excelled in mastering the most basic of Genin skills such as water-walking, tree-climbing (or in the case of Kumo Genin for whom trees were scarce, mountain climbing), improving the speed of their Shunshin no Jutsu, improving the timing of their Karwarimi no Jutsu use, increasing their accuracy with throwing shuriken and kunai and learning how to effectively block-and-counter them, not just dodging, and finally learning how to use "Kai" to free others or themselves from Genjutsu. At the start of their fourth month, they began taking on missions, being granted the privilege of an occasional D-rank every so often if they proved they could handle it. After their eight-month mark under the tutelage of their sensei, they were considered proficient enough to graduate to the "next level" of missions - meaning they would be able to take on mostly D-ranked missions, truly beginning to test their teamwork. Before they realized it, one year had passed since they were teamed up. Sandaime announced to them that despite the fact the other Genin their age all over the shinobi world would be traveling to Iwagakure no Sato for the Chuunin Exams, they would be staying Genin for another year.
Despite the fact that they were not happy with being kept out of this opportunity for another year, Team One did not argue, but instead asked Sandaime why. He then explained that in addition to going on missions, he would start training them more individually in the area of their preference - for Shigure weapons, for O Genjutsu, and for Darui Ninjutsu and Taijutsu. Willingly accepting this trade-off, Team One began training almost immediately. On the side, however, when he was not training with Sandaime, his father began training him in elemental Ninjutsu - both Suiton and Raiton - so he could make use of his Kekkei Genkei Ranton. Starting small with both elements, over the course of the year he began growing more confident and proficient in their basic use and manipulation to the point where he could use the first Ranton technique taught to everyone in his clan; Reiza Sakasu. Focusing mostly on Ninjutsu with his father, Darui focused mostly on Taijutsu with Sandaime, developing his own fighting style (without a weapon), and learning how to use his chakra to his advantage. After determining that Darui's primary affinity was for Raiton, but he was born with Suiton as well because of his Kekkei Genkei, he suggested that Darui incorporate some of his Raiton chakra into his fists and see how far that got him in comparison to normal.
After steady, dedicated training and persistent hard work, Team One had finally waited the full year that Sandaime promised them. At the age of thirteen, they all had grown in mind, body, and spirit. Shigure had mastered the techniques of using close-range weapons, and was beginning to work on mid-range, O had learned how to use more powerful Genjutsu and was working on being more tactical in how to trap an enemy in one, and Darui had experienced yet another growth spurt, adding height to counter-act the muscle he'd gained during his physical training. Pleased with his students' progress, Sandaime recommended all three of them for the upcoming Chuunin Exams, which were to be held in none other than Kumogakure no Sato.
CHUUNIN EXAMS & YEARS
The Chuunin Exams of Kumogakure followed a similar format to all the others. The only thing different was the actual task. For the first task, the Genin were gathered in various groups in each of the four main mountains surrounding Kumo. The group of Genin – this year, there were 80 attempting to become Chuunin – were divided into fourths, and each quarter were assigned to one of the four main mountains surrounding Kumo in the North, South, East, and West. The task was to infiltrate as many other mountains as possible within the given time limit – about one day – without dying. The Genin were allowed to use any means necessary to defend their mountain or attack another. After much arguing amongst the Genin in the North Mountain, an irritable Darui stepped forward with a plan of action. His unwavering voice and ‘home field’ knowledge of the area left few others with the will to argue him. A few others spoke up, adding their own details to the plan as they and Darui believed would be seen fit. By the end of the first day, the North Mountain had lost seven out of the original twenty of their team, and they had successfully defended their mountain while being able to overcome the West Mountain. Having proved their ability, the remaining North Mountain team was able to progress to the second portion of the exam.
The second portion of the exam more or less tested the Genin’s will to survive, stamina, and guts. At first, it appeared to be more of a race from the Southern mountain of Kumo, across the village territory and to the giant turtle (which had been moved to a more stationary location for the sake of this Exam), but it was more than that. Once on the giant turtle, the Genin teams (how they were numbered in their own village) would be faced with an onslaught of unfamiliar animals, other Genin Teams and Kumogakure Chuunin proctors with the sole goal of trying to thwart their progress. Once they reached the center of the island, the teams received a special katana from a Jounin that they needed to locate. After receiving the Katana, they were to race back to Kumo’s cloud field to deliver the Katana, and finish the assignment. By the time the second exam finished, seventeen of the original sixty Genin remained. The rest had dropped out, been disqualified, or been killed. Team One, battered, exhausted, and wary of any other Genin that approached them, finished third out of the teams. The remaining Genin consisted of three Kumo, three Konoha, three Iwa, three Suna, three Kiri, and two Kusa shinobi. Upon finding that they were the only ones that would progress to the final round, the Genin were granted three weeks of preparation time.
In those three weeks, Shigure and Darui trained harder than they felt they ever had before in such a short time frame. O unfortunately did not join them. She fell ill, and resigned from the contest to become Chuunin. Upset by her easy resignation, Shigure and Darui had demanded to know why she did. She told them that she honestly did not have the confidence in her skills to become a Chuunin just yet. Respectful of her decision, they left her to her own wiles to train vigorously with Sandaime. After the preparation time they were allowed, the final portion of the exam – a tourney-tree-sort of fight between the Genin – began. Shigure lost her final match, while Darui managed to come out as the eventual winner of the Chuunin Exams that year. In his first match, he won primarily by using the Taijutsu he had been developing with Sandaime-sensei, he won his quarter-final using Suiton Ninjutsu, his semi-final with Raiton Ninjutsu, and the final match using the Ranton technique, Reiza Sakasu, which he had perfected at long last, much to his father’s pride. Darui, along with eight of the competitors (Shigure included) were selected to become Chuunin. Finally, at the age of thirteen, Darui was a Chuunin.
Given O’s departure from their team, Shigure and Darui, along with Sandaime, made up a new three-man cell in Kumo, known as “Team Sandaime”. They remained together for the course of seven years. In those seven years, they became a force to be reckoned with. Shigure came closer and closer to taking her mother’s title as Kumo’s Weapons Mistress until she finally did, while Darui became more well-known for his unique Taijutsu style and development of his Kekkei Genkei. Becoming more proficient in the use of all three elemental releases, Darui began developing techniques for all three natures, making use of his stamina, which gained the attention of Sandaime. Sandaime was unique in the respect that he had developed ‘Black Lightning’ to use against opponents. The Black Lightning was often delivered in larger attacks, while it was also faster and more powerful than regular Lightning. Coming to see Darui as almost a son over the years, he passed on the secrets of the technique to Darui, training him in the usage of Black Lightning. Though it was difficult, Darui was relentless in his efforts to learn how to use it. By the time their seventh year together was coming to a close, Darui had developed a number of techniques, and was the only person that had ever learned how to use Sandaime’s Black Lightning.
Their final days together drawing near, as Sandaime had been selected to become the Third Raikage, he requested that Shigure and Darui fight him a final time, much like they had the first time they met. The ritual was the same; meet at sunset at the base of Kumo’s Northernmost mountain, and win over Sandaime’s approval by sunrise. The second time was much different. Shigure and Darui were each much smarter, stronger, faster, and more skilled. Though they were not able to overwhelm Sandaime, they managed to give him a run for his money. As the sun rose, he stood before them both and announced that as he would be formally declared as Raikage by the Lightning Country’s Daimyo at sunhigh, they were both Shinobi he was proud of, and that they were two of the strongest students – seeing as they had both met their potential and gone beyond what he saw for them - he had trained in his time. Heartened by his words, Darui and Shigure gave their official respects to Sandaime as he left them to prepare for the induction ceremony. Later that day, both Shigure and Darui were promoted to Jounin at the age of twenty.
JOUNIN YEARS
In the next ten years, as well as going on missions and continuing to develop his skill and new jutsu with Suiton, Raiton, Ranton, and Black Lightning, Darui approached Shigure about learning how to use a cleaver-like blade, something that had caught his eye in the hands of enemy shinobi on a mission. Seeing as he had never bothered to fight with more than kunai, shuriken, exploding tags, wire, and a katana, a weapon such as the cleaver blade had caught his interest. In between going on missions, Shigure accepted his request, and promised to teach him how to use one. They practiced as often as possible for as long as possible over the course of two years until she deemed Darui well-enough trained to have his own blade and utilize it in battle. However, their training sessions did not go without bloodshed – accidental, that is. Having failed to block Shigure’s onslaught of dual, double-edged katana, she got within Darui’s guard and slashed open his side. Her routine drove the ends of the katana into his pectoral muscles and abdominal muscles (though due to her restraint on the blades, they were not deep enough to cause serious damage to internal organs, thankfully). However, unable to stop until her form was completed, for that was the only way she had ever trained, Shigure ripped the blades through his abdomen, chest, and side muscles and swinging the second edge in a diagonal arc through the cut.
Naturally, she was horrified at what she’d done when the form was completed. Darui was bleeding profusely from the wound, and needed immediate medical attention to stem the bleeding. Despite the fast-acting medic-nin of the village, Darui was still left on leave from his Jounin duties for two and one-half months to regain control and strength in the muscles that had essentially been torn apart. In his time off, Darui refused to let any time go to waste. Though it had hurt him to do so, he kept up with his physical training (though in smaller proportions than normal) and practice of Taijutsu forms as to not let the healing wounds grow stiff. When he was finally allowed to go back on missions after being deemed fully healed, Darui proved that he had not been doing nothing in his recovery time...including taking to wearing light chain-mail armor beneath his shirt and flak jacket for an extra level of protection.
Six years passed after he got his cleaver blade when he ‘graduated’ from Shigure’s tutilage. In that time he became proficient in a new prefered method of fighting, a mix of Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu. He prefered mostly to use the cleaver-blade as a defensive weapon, though he had no problems with using it offensively too. He decided it would be smartest to rely on Taijutsu for when he was weaponless, or the close-range combat was weaponless, and Iaijutsu-Kenjutsu and Ninjutsu any other time. In the five years, the Third Raikage had passed on and was replaced by his son, A. Knowing what his father thought of Darui, A appointed him to be one of his personal guards, along with Shi. Determined to prove himself further, Darui insisted he and Shi train together to become familiar with each other’s fighting styles so they could work together more efficiently. He did so for two years, and he where he is now – Raikage’s second right arm, well-known around Kumo for his speed, strength, stamina, and skill with Ninjutsu, having developed a good number of techniques in the sixteen years since he became a Chuunin. He stands proudly by the Raikage, wherever he may be, in any situation – ready to do whatever it takes to protect Raikage.

Kekkei Genkai: Storm Release - Ranton
Clan Name: --
Village Origin: Kumogakure no Sato
Clan Members: Darui
Description: Ranton, Storm Release, the combined power of Water and Lightning. Pick or choose whichever, but it’s the same thing. Ranton is generally used for an all-out offensive attack, often manifesting as lasers-like beams that can be directed and controlled by the user. However, while it is a poor choice for defenses (for the most part, anyway), jutsu produced from it can be used as a decent supplementary tool. A shinobi skilled in the use of the Storm Release can concentrate the energy into a smaller, less obvious attack and give literally meaning to “big surprises come in small packages”. Being made up of Suiton (empowered by Katon and weakened by Doton) and Raiton (empowered by Doton and weakened by Fuuton), it has its own splay of weaknesses and strengths. All in all, Ranton is a formidable force to butt heads with in battle when in the hands of the right shinobi.

Taijutsu
Darui will use Taijutsu when he finds himself weaponless in close-range combat, or running low on chakra. He generally prefers to use Ninjutsu. I based his style of Taijutsu primarily on the elbow, punching, and kicking techniques used in Muay-Thai Kickboxing. He can perform all of the basic (and not-so-basic) punches, kicks, and elbow jabs of Muay Thai. His techniques (save for the ones listed) are fairly basic, but he adds his own flair with his chakra for the higher-tier techniques (B and A rank). The Raiton chakra input and output through these techniques is not to becompared to that of someone like Sakura or Tsunade, for he has not been specifically trained in chakra control.

The Raiton chakra input and output through these techniques is not to becompared to that of someone like Sakura or Tsunade, for he has not been specifically trained in chakra control.
Jutsu Name: Yanagi no Keibatsu Hebi - Dance of the Striking Snake
Character: Darui Rank: B Type: Offensive
Classification: Taijutsu
Element: --
Description: To use this punch-based jutsu, Darui changes the concentrated direction of his chakra. He lessens the amount he's focusing in his feet by about fifty percent, and then re-directs it to focus as Raiton-natured chakra in his fists. From there, he has a tendency to move in a circle around the opponent, launching a quick barrage of as many punches as possible within a given gap of time.
Jutsu Name: Yanagi no Hiyaku Tora - Dance of the Leaping Tiger
Character: Darui Rank: C Type: Defensive
Classification: Taijutsu
Element: --
Description: This defensive maneuver is often used if Darui feels he needs to retreat a certain distance. Keeping his center of gravity low, Darui raises his wrists and elbow up slightly so that he is able to move them to the side, up, down, or above his head as needed to block techniques. He concentrates mostly on speed and keeping his guard up so that no blows can get through. Because he has no protection on his arms, he often tries to retreat quickly while using this so he can re-group and re-strategize.
Jutsu Name: Ushi Ryu - Ox Axe
Character: Darui Rank: C Type: Offensive
Classification: Taijutsu
Element: --
Description: To perform this kick, Darui raises his leg as straight as possible (due to his constant training, he is very flexible, so this is almost completely vertical) before bringing his heel down on his opponent's head or shoulders.
Jutsu Name: Kochou - Butterfly
Character: Darui Rank: B Type: Offensive
Classification: Taijutsu
Element: --
Description: This kick is done by performing a large circular motion with both feet in succession, making Darui airborne. He first appears as though he is going to perform a roundhouse kick, before taking two courses of action. One, sweep his first foot into the opponents side and use that extra leverage to bring his heel around into the opponents head while airborne. Or two, hit the opponents head both times with his feet.
Jutsu Name: Inu Fuuku - Dog Hook
Character: Darui Rank:C Type: Offensive
Classification: Taijutsu
Element: --
Description: This kick is meant to strike with the heel to the opponent's head from the side. The kick is intentionally aimed slightly off target in the direction of the kicking foot's toes. At full extension, the knee is bent and the foot snapped to the side, impacting the target with the heel. With the power put behind it, in addition to the chakra he focuses in his feet to move quickly, Darui has given his opponents concussions before.
Jutsu Name: Tori Hisan - Bird Flying
Character: Darui Rank: B Type: Offensive
Classification: Taijutsu
Element: --
Description: To perform this kick, Darui gets a short (but effective) running start to approach his opponent before snapping a kick to their chin with the ball of his foot. This is normally just a feign kick, however, and seeing as it is so obvious, it is often avoided quite easily. However, once within striking range of the opponent, Darui launches a side-kick in mid-air using his built up momentum.
Jutsu Name: Tatsu Hasami - Dragon Scissor
Character: Darui Rank: C Type: Offensive
Classification: Taijutsu
Element: --
Description: Used as a means to get back on his feet when he is on the ground in a fight, Darui moves his weight to the bottoms of his forearms and swings both of his legs into the air. From there, he quickly moves onto his hands and spins his torso, hips, and legs around. He keeps his legs splayed in the process so that he may kick multiple enemies if they are closing in on him. The momentum caused by the rapid twisting of his torso is enough to get him back on his feet.
Jutsu Name: Yanagi no Yuuou Uma - Dance of the Spirited Horse
Character: Darui Rank: B Type: Offensive
Classification: Taijutsu
Element: --
Description: This maneuver is often used to batter opponents back. Darui focuses his chakra completely into his feet so that his blows are more powerful and he is able to move quicker for this maneuver. He launches a barrage of various simple kicks to drive the opponents back with force before making the move to get his opponent furthest back and/or on the ground. He sweeps downward and performs a low reverse round-kick to swipe his opponent off balance. He then moves the reverse round-kick to middle range to kick at their torso, ribcage, and abdomen, before finally jumping to perform an airborne reverse-round to the opponents head, neck, and face. The final blow has been enough to send the opponent spinning away.
Ninjutsu
Jutsu Name: Ranton: Sentou no Tentou - Storm Release: Punch of Heaven
Character: Darui Rank: C Type: Offensive
Classification: Ninjutsu
Element: Ranton
Description: After performing the needed string of handseals, Darui focuses Ranton chakra around both of his hands, giving him the appearence that he has donned a pair of boxing gloves made from Ranton Chakra. He will atempt to drive an opponent to within 5 meters of a wall before thrusting one hand forward, releasing the chakra in a beam straight for the opponent. The first beam should be enough to drive the opponent into the wall (if hit from the correct angle. If not, then they will be sent flying one direction or another). Darui quickly follows up with the second palm...at closer range. To follow up, Darui gets as close to them as he can within their recovery time and release the second beam at them to drive them further into the wall, ground, or further away. (Note: If Darui knows the opponent is faster than him, he will simply release the second beam from wherever they land)
Jutsu Name: Raiton: Rairyuudan no Jutsu - Lightning Release: Lightning Dragon Projectile Technique.
Character: Jounin Raiton affinities. Rank: B Type: Offensive.
Classification: Ninjutsu.
Description: Utilizing the lightning element, the user produces a large column of lightning in the form of a dragon that will rise out of their body (be it the whole body or just hands) to strike their opponent up to over ten meters away. This dragon lasts only for a few seconds one released, but as it dissolves and loses its form the lightning will strike anything within a five meter proximity of the jutsu with enough force to knock a person over and momentarily stun them due to the powerful electric forces.
Jutsu Name: Raiton: Kurodoragon - Lightning Release: Black Dragon
Character: Darui Rank: A Type: Offensive
Classification: Ninjutsu
Element: Raiton (Black Lightning)
Description: This technique is brought to life by creating a substantial amount of Black Lightning which takes the form of a dragon that rises from Darui's body. The dragon itself has a maximum length of eight meters, and no more than three meters width. It can be used to affect multiple targets at once by electrocuting them. The dragon, unlike the wolf or panther, does not move like a beast and electrocute as many opponents as it can hit. Kurodoragon generally extends from Darui's body in a straight line to attack as many enemies as possible within its range before it vanishes (once it extends outside of this range, the technique will dispell). Due to the dimensions of the beast, the purpose of the attack is to go through the upper back and heads of an opponent, delivering a powerful shock to their nervous system. Though it is not concentrated enough to impair their mobility at all, it is quite jarring and painful. Like other Black Lightning Techniques, the Black Lightning not only shocks the opponent, but also leaves them with a number of electrical burns on the surface of their skin.
Jutsu Name: Raiton: Kurookami - Lightning Release: Black Wolf
Character: Darui Rank: A Type: Offensive
Classification: Ninjutsu
Element: Raiton (Black Lightning)
Description: This technique is brought to life by creating a substantial amount of Black Lightning which takes the form of a wolf-like creature that comes from Darui's body. It can be used to affect multiple victims at once by electrocuting them. This jutsu is quite similar to Darui’s Lightning Release: Black Panther. However, the wolf is smaller, but moves faster. As opposed to Kuropansa, which Darui releases as a full-brunt attack that is not aimed at a particular target, Kurookami is often meant to sweep through the front lines of an advancing threat before it vanishes. It often moves in a zig-zag motion to sweep back and forth to take out a number of enemies (by means of severely electrocuting them) from front lines as quickly as possible. Like other Black Lightning Techniques, the Black Lightning not only shocks the opponent, but also leaves them with electrical burns on the surface of their skin.
Jutsu Name: Ranton: Tenrai Keibatsu - Storm Release: Divine Judgement
Character: Darui Rank: A Type: Supplementary
Classification: Ninjutsu
Element: Ranton
Description: After performing the needed handseals, Darui will expel Ranton-natured chakra from his body. The chakra will take the shape of a sphere and become a literal light-blue colored mass of chakra that Darui is completely hidden within. Once the sphere has become completely opaque, Darui will make the “Dragon” hand seal and let the ball of chakra “explode” in a sense. However, the explosion is not cataclysmic by any rate. It is more like the chakra is released from the ball in a number of beams from all over – sides, top, and bottom (foes in the sky and ground could get hit if they are in the line of fire – until the chakra around Darui dissapates completely. Note that Darui cannot control the direction of the beams, they just go in a straight line, and also note that the entire ball does not “explode”, only about thirty beams come out of it for all directions.
Jutsu Name: Raiton: Zokunen Keibatsu - Lightning Release: Unholy Judgement
Character: Darui Rank: S Type: Offensive
Classification: Ninjutsu
Element: Raiton (Black Lightning)
Description: Darui accumulates Raiton chakra within his body for use of a Black Lightning technique. He waits about half a minute for the chakra to accumulate to a point where he can no longer safely contain it within his body. (After about ten seconds of storing the chakra within him, he will begin to spark with Black Lightning. When he reaches the point where he can no longer hold chakra safely in his body, the Black Lightning flares around him like a Darui-sized fire. Once this happens, he raises his hands and slams them to the ground, diminishing the Black Lightning around him. From there, the Black Lightning will expand upwards and outwards from the ground in straight lines, running through the ground and air for up to 15 meters outwards. It has been compared to a shockwave of Black Lightning through the earth, with Darui as the epicenter. While powering up for this technique, Darui will fight by relying on his Taijutsu and Cleaving blade so he can put his chakra to better use.
Jutsu Name: Raijin – God of Thunder and Lightning
Character: Darui Rank: S Type: Offensive
Classification: Kinjutsu
Element: Ranton
Description: By far Darui’s most advanced technique, Raijin was named after the god of Thunder and Lightning for the very nature of the jutsu. Though Darui can perform this technique anywhere he has a surface to stand on. When on the water or ground, Darui will perform a string of the needed handseals and expel a great amount of his Ranton-nature chakra into the area around him (and if he is on water, into the water). The jutsu creates the torso, head, and arms gigantic humanoid creature. The body (which serves no purpose other than to display of the concentrated chakra before the technique is released) is made of pure Ranton-nature chakra, and in Darui's case is a white-blue color. A ring of circles -as seen in the picture- will form in the creatures hands, all of Ranton-nature chakra. They will grow steadily until they are interlinked. The circles move until they vanish within the body of the creature, and the creature itself vanishes into Darui. Only a second may pass before the chakra is released in a large, expanding mass that appears similar to that of a tsunami, for it is light blue in coloring. It is practically pure Ranton-nature chakra, though the signature beams of Ranton-nature chakra and water (if he's standing on some) are visible as well. It expands outwards like a wave up to a two-kilometer diameter before dissipating. The wave itself is about fifteen feet tall. It moves rather quickly. However, if the oponnent is smart and starts running as soon as they sense the massive accumulation of chakra, they should be fine and out of the way of the blast shortly before it happens. The most they’d need to watch out for then is a gust of wind generated by it and the occasional tree or rock flying by their head.
The main purpose of this attack is to force surrounding opponents backwards from the mass of chakra that hits them if they get caught in the wave. Because the wave is made of chakra, it rather forcefully forces them backwards, but it also deals blunt-force damage if it hits, badly bruising of an opponent at best.
Note, Darui is only able to use this once per battle if he uses almost almost no other chakra for techniques, also, it is damaging to the landscape, so he prefers not to use it. Also, it takes Darui a good while to 'charge up' for this technique, so he will rely on his blade and Taijutsu.

In the ideal battle, Darui is more of the type to “learn as you go”. He will not hesitate to attack an opponent, and when fighting with a team, will often lead an assault on the enemy with the other members of his team backing him up. However, when fighting alone, Darui will often try to deal the first attack, and move with the flow of the battle as it progresses. If Darui’s main goal is dispatching the enemy quickly, he will focus primarily on using Ninjutsu. On the other hand, if his main or immediate goal is not to dispatch the opposing force, or something more along the lines of capture, he will rely mostly on his swordwork and Taijutsu, allowing some ‘wiggle room’ for close-range Ninjutsu for the finishing blows. However, Darui wont necissarily stick to this ‘plan of action’, but will do whatever is necessary to accomplish his goal.

Crossing his arms, Darui stared at the ground, listening to the other Genin around him bicker about their situation, trying to decide what to do and how to do it, and others arguing about issues their villages had with one another. His lip curled in distaste as he listened to them. Did they all lack the guts to stand up and put their opinion out there for everybody to here? It would get them further than just standing there and doing nothing. His fingers clenched around his arm and he cracked his knuckles impatiently. Glancing to the side, he saw Shigure staring at him with a rather wry expression that practically spelled out what was on her mind. ‘I can tell youre dying standing here listening to all of this. Do something so that we don’t fail this exam before it actually starts’ Darui rolled his eyes and took a breath. Waiting a moment to focus his chakra into his feet, Darui turned and ran up the inside of the cavern wall until he was in the center of the ceiling above the heads of the Genin. ”Hey, listen up!” he shouted, his voice echoing off the cavern wall and getting the attention of the other villages’ Genin. ”You all shouldn’t be focusing on the differences of your villages, but instead trying to think how you can succeed in this Chuunin Exam and become better for your village! We have about five minutes before the first part of this exam starts; we need some sort of plan! And, if you all will listen, I’ll give you a backbone to plan around and some information about these mountains. We’d be better off to start our attack....”

Moving from side to side, hearing the clank of metal with each step, Darui swallowed as he concentrated on blocking Shigure’s blows. He could feelt the sweat beading at the back of his neck. Since he had first met her, Shigure had evolved into some sort of demon when it came to her custom-made twin double-edged katana. Her forms barely left him room to get a blow in edgewise. He would have to break her route somehow. But, how to do just that was the question. A blade flashed by his head and Darui jerked to the side, deflecting it with the flat side of his cleaver blade. Shit, that was – he had begun to think. However, his train of thought was broken as he felt a peircing pain in his chest and stomach. She had gotten within his guard, and used the force with which he hit her blade away as momentum to spin the katana back around. Before even a second had passed, Shigure swept the blades through his side and cut across the wound quick as a fish. ”Ack!” he coughed, dropping to the ground and clutching his side. He heard Shigure call his name, but it barely registered, fading into a black abyss along with the scene before him.
Blinking open his eyes, Darui found himself staring at the wall across from him. That was odd... he thought, sitting up and running a hand through his hair. Second night in a row I’ve dreamed the same thing. That’s kind of dull... Yawning, and standing up to stretch, Darui looked at his clock. He had about ninety minutes to get ready before Raikage’s conference. That would get the ball rolling for the day. ”Maybe it will prove to be interesting...” he mused. ”Although, these things are generally dull....” Raising a hand to his head, he ran his fingers through his hair, letting it fall back over his eye. No use thinking about it, he would just have to find out when it happened.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
