[/u] In addition to the wings for flight, she has grown air sacs alongside lungs. These air sacs enable her to breathe in thin air that would normally present an unlivable circumstance to other humans and mutants. Able to fly in the same skies as passenger jet liners, she would be a goner if she relied on the oxygen levels found at sea level. Although, given her current predicament, she has not yet learned that she can do this.AELLA ANDRASTE AGRONA
"There is no land of tolerance. There is no peace. Not here, or anywhere else." | The Basics
Code Name: Raptor
Age: 14 Years
Species: Mutant
Canon/Original: Original
Gender: Female
Height: 5 feet 4 inches
Weight: 80 pounds
Sexuality: Heterosexual
General Appearance: Being half-French, half-Japanese, Aella has a fair complexion. Her eyes are a unique amber color, and almond-shaped, slightly up-turned at the ends like a typical Asian eye-shape. Her build is rather slight. Though she stands at 5'4", she weighs only 80 pounds. Her light weight comes from having thin, close-to-hollow bones brought on by her mutation. Almost in compensation for her hollow bones, she is wired with strong muscle, accounting for practically all of her weight. She is not very well-endowed, but holds a noticeable waist, which has come about recently because of her rationing of any semi-meals she eats. Her hair is a glossy, onyx black and falls to her mid-back. As part of her mutation, her nails have grown to be a permanent, glossy black as though she paints them religiously. Her hair is the same color as her wings, which have grown straight from the middle of her back. The wings make her back obviously abnormally shaped, as most often seen when she stretches her trench coat over them. In the few times she has extended her wings, she has determined that they have a twelve-foot span. Her wings, once fully grown, will have a span of thirteen feet. Otherwise, she has tried hiding them. She has only tried flying a couple of times since the wings most recently grew large enough for her to fly.
The most interesting trait of Aella is - you guessed it - her wings. They've been growing slowly for the past three and a half years, and have naturally been going through a series of color changes as the smaller feathers have shed to constantly be replaced by larger ones. Currently, the wings are closer to a solid color than they ever have been before. At the base, where they grow from her back, they are white, which fades into a series of metallic gray/silver feathers, which quickly transition into onyx black feathers for more than half her wings. The closer they get to becoming fully grown, they more the solid black replaces the smaller feathers.
Aella has neither the time nor the money to stand around looking for a certain article of clothing, or further staring at herself in the mirror displaying something. Currently, to go out, she wears a large button-up shirt, a pair of jeans, and a large trench coat that falls to her mid-calf. The coat is stretched over her wings and back. Due to the material the coat is made out of, it is obvious to see that it doesn’t lay normally on her back. Most people either remain curious about why it looks like such or jump to the conclusion that her back and shoulders is mis-shapen thanks to some sort of a musculo-skeletal abnormally. On her feet she wears a pair of black combat boots, and she has a pair of black leather gloves to wear that more likely than not have holes in the tips of the fingers from occasions when her nails have grown beyond her control. If there comes a time when she is alone or with other mutants she trusts, she will wear a high-collared, slim-fitting shirt that has an open back, allowing her wings to stay out, unrestrained by the trench coat. She'll probably ditch the gloves as well, at this point. However, it may take her a while to reach this point.

The Abilities | "You're not the only one with gifts."
Mutant Powers:
Aella's mutation consists of her being endowed with multiple gifts, however, they are all related in one key aspect - it is as though the 'mutant-x' gene in her body introduced features of a bird of prey.
- NATURAL FLIGHT :: Possibly her mutation's most useful trait is that she has been endowed with the ability of natural flight through wings that have grown from the center of her back. Unfortunately, though, because of her current situation, she has been unable to learn how to fly. The most she has achieved is hovering in the air for one minute at most after jumping from the top of a building. She doesnt know how to take off or land, gracefully at least in the case of the latter. In order to fully utilize this part of her gift, she will undoubtedly need somebody to teach her how to fly. Her gift to fly, though, comes with a slight downfall - because of how light she is, she is easily 'handled' in a sense. Also, her thin bones are more easily broken than normal ones.
- RAPTOR VISION :: Though she once needed glasses to so much as see a television set across the room clear enough to see what was going on, Aella's eyes have grown to be more similar to that of a raptor bird. She is able to see objects far away clearly as though she were holding them in her own hands. The furthest she is able to see perfectly before her eyesight begins to fade to that closer of a normal human's is 200 yards. This vision also allows her to perceive ultra-violet light. Due to this, her sense of color is a bit off, seeing as she sees everything with at least some shade of UV in it.
- AIR SACS ::
[/li][li]EXTENDABLE TALONS ::[/u] At the age of ten, her nails grew harder, and a solid, onyx black that one would normally attain through painting their nails religiously. Her nails are able to grow rapidly into raptor-like claws (literally speaking "talons") under a few instances, some beyond her control. If she is afraid or experiencing an adrenaline rush, her talons will grow. Also, they will grow when needed, or if left un-trimmed or filed for a long period of time.
[/li][li]UNWAVERING GRIP :: To compliment her talons, her grip is also powerful and hard to break, like that of any bird of prey holding onto its catch. Although she lacks the brute strength to snap someones bones, if she holds on tight enough to something like a joint, she would most definitely bruise them, not to mention possibly hurting them if her talons have grown in the time she is using to grip whomever.[/li][/ul]
Skills:
- Took piano and voice lessons from ages three to ten
- Speaks French, English, and Japanese, so she is able to communicate with both sides of her family. She is fluent in English and Japanese, she knows a good deal less French than the other two languages.
"If you knew the kind of person you used to be.....the work we did together......" | The Past
History: Aella was born in the United States Virgin Islands on February 12th to Luan-Xi Laurent-Agrona (an Exotic Animal veterinarian) and Alexander Agrona (an Orthopedic Surgeon), Aella - a Greek name for "Whirlwind" led a fairly normal life for the first decade were alive. Although they moved numerous times before finally settling in Middlebury, Vermont, their lifestyle was fairly average. Her parents' careers left them quite busy, although they were always sure to try to make time to be with her. they were proud of her, because she had proved to be of intellectual talent from a young age. They expected more and more from her, "nothing short of perfection" as her mother said at one point. She strove - albeit in only the beginning years of school - to be the best, and her efforts paid off.
At the age of ten, however, things began to change. Spurred by the death of her best friend by a terminal illness, the 'mutant' gene in her body activated. The first thing she noticed was a drastic change in her vision. Originally she needed glasses, seeing as the books she loved had made her near-sighted. However, this was the first thing to change. The next, though more subtle, change was the darkening and hardening of her nails. If she left them untrimmed, they grew long, thin, and curved. Her mother, fearful, filed them down constantly, sometimes until her skin bled. The most obvious change (of those that could be noticed easily) were the growth of her wings. They started growing when she was ten years and six months old.
Her parents first noticed them, no more than lumps of bony growth under her skin on her back. Her father immediately took her into surgery to remove the foreign growths. They thought it worked until they began growing again. Desperate to keep her parents happy, the young Aella - known as 'Windy' by few - locked herself in the bathroom of a hardware store, where she had used an iron rasp to try to file them off. This, too, proved ineffective. Her parents, unhappy, pulled Aella out of school and hired a private tutor/guardian to teach her and be with her, as they distanced themselves the more her wings grew. After three and a half years of this, Aella decided they would be better off - not to mention happier - without her, so she ran away from home.
She has been on her own for only six days.
The Proof | "Most people will never know anything beyond what they see with their own two eyes."
Personality:
- KIND & BENEVOLENT :: She has an inherent sense of good and a will to be kind to others. Despite her current living condition(s), Aella tries to stay positive, and hold at least the ghost of a smile on her face when she talks to people for one reason or another. Though she rarely has someone that gets on her bad side, there are a few, and she will still respect them, and not seek out to degrade them morally or esteem-wise in any way. She believes that all people are equal on a moral, and ethical scale of things. She also believes that all people are born with an innate humanitarian sense, but it is up to them of as far as displaying that sense - from very much to not at all - goes. Despite her kindness and seemingly openness to people, she is currently shy around new people - namely humans - and a bit on the more 'afraid' or 'nervous' side of things as far as her wings go. She fears they will have negative reactions to her – like her parents did – if they find out about her abilities.
- LEVEL-HEADED & REASONABLE :: It might be from the books she loved to read, but ever since she was young Aella has always kept her wits, patience and self about her, even in stressful situations. It could even be thought of as odd for someone at her age to be so self-composed and sensible. There are few things in the world that are capable of getting on her nerves. Though she keeps her temper about her when an uncomfortable discussion makes itself present, she will most often try to quickly deliver a smiley, get-out-of-there sort of phrase to try to keep the peace. Although she is able to keep control of her temper for the most part, if the right buttons are pressed she will forgo the ‘polite’ route completely and most likely viciously claw at whomever provoked her.
- CALM & PATIENT :: When dealing with most problems, Aella tries to maintain a calm and professional manner, and always focuses on achieving the best solution that will satisfy both parties (if possible) rather than just "getting out of the fray" if necessary. She is patient with most things to the extent that some consider it 'abnormal'. Due to how long she is willing to wait for something she considers worth waiting for, she has been chided in the past. Her parents used to tell her than not everything she needs will come her way easily, and time wont stop for her. One thing, however, that gets to her, are senseless arguments. She gets rather unnerved, and grows quite irritable when around people engaging in annoying or pointless arguments, or those that are outright rash in their actions...people who would give anyone else a giant headache.
Sample RP: It was about six thirty in the morning...about the time most of the small town would probably be waking up. However, Aella was wide awake at the time. She had woken up about fifteen minutes ago - she could be an early riser when she wanted to be (and more often when she didnt want to be). Today was one of the days she didnt really want to have woken up early. The sky was clear, and the only clouds in sight were thin and wispy, letting the sun shine down to the ground in all its radiance. Aella walked carefully through the wet grass on the East side of the grounds until she reached a small, open expanse of grass and a few scattered trees. This was 'her spot' as she liked to call it. She knew it wasn't actually hers, but, at times in the early morning like this, it felt like it.
A small breeze interrupted the serene quiet of the morning by rustling the leaves on the trees. It made her shiver as the cool air rushed across the back of her neck, picking her hair up and lifting it easily into the air. The morning was brisk, but beautiful. The silence that was settled over the area was more than enough to make up for the slight chill. She pulled the collar of her trench coat up a bit, flipping it over to stand straight and protect her skin. She wanted to be alone, but at the same time she wanted to see somebody...anybody. her gloved hands clenched into fists slightly as she stuffed them in her pockets.
She was tired of living in fear, even though she had only been doing so for a short amount of time. It had been what, a couple of months? She missed her home. As much as they'd treated her like an alien and a total freak, she missed her parents. She missed Nelana, who had been gone for four years already. She didnt want to stay as she was. But, she knew that only she had the power to change that.
Aella blinked and opened her eyes. That dream she'd had was peaceful and calm...a bit of a contrast from how she was currently living. She wished that her life could reflect that. But no...she was on the run. She had begun to head West, following whispered rumors she'd heard...talking about a school for the gifted. Once or twice she could swear that someone had said 'special' people. She had no idea where to go, though, but until she found the supposed 'school', or even so much as confirmed that the rumors were true, she was on her own.
Pulling her knees up to her chest, she locked her arms around her legs and curved her neck downwards, resting her eyes against her knees. She frowned somewhat and tried to get back to sleep, suppressing the urge to cry out of her loneliness.
