"There is no land of tolerance. There is no peace. Not here, or anywhere else." | The Basics[/u] While (re)generating the growth of new bone, she has control (albeit limited) over how strong or weak she wants the bone to be. She has not fully realized this ability, though, seeing as she mostly tries to refrain from using her gift unless otherwise instructed. The calcium level and osseous tissues within her bones modify the strength of the bones that grow, giving her a heightened defense, if she so desires. She is able to make a natural defense of bone, by fanning out the bones inside her body to make a 'shield' almost. Even when her bones are strengthened, they are still able to be broken with the right amount of force. The denser/stronger the bones get, the heavier they get, and thus they will hamper her movement.
Code Name: None as of yet
Age: 16 years
Species: Mutant
Canon/Original: Original
Gender: Female
Height: 5 feet 6 inches
Weight: 133 pounds
Sexuality: Heterosexual
General Appearance: GTaryn is built similarly to any "average" girl her age. Standing at 5 feet 6 inches, she is not the tallest person around, but on the same note she's not the smallest around, either. She has an average-sized chest and hips, and not much of a waist to boast about. Her skin is a light olive complexion, and she has a few freckles scattered here and there. Her hair is a brown with natural chestnut highlights scattered over her whole head, both at the tips of her hair and near the roots. Her hair is complimented by the medium brown of her eyes. She could also easily pass for an average girl on a day out.
The only time her appearance noticeably changes is when she utilizes her mutation..or if it activates on its own. Her bones can come from just about any surface in her body, wherever there are prominent bones. Often times some come from her elbows, shoulders, knuckles, the centers of her palms, her ribcage, and spine. However, her bones can come from any point. After her bones come out, though, then recede, holes are left in her clothing wherever they came from, so she often has to keep a stock of clothing. The shape of the bone itself within her body has little bearing on what it can be shaped like when it appears outside her body. For instance, the carpals of her wrist, which are normally round, can be forced through her skin in a manner of spikes, the same goes for her radius and ulna. If she forces them through the front of her hand, she will likely make it appear as though it is a white spike driven through the center of her hand.
Jeans and a t-shirt seem to be the way to go as far as her typical wardrobe extends. That, or jeans, a camisole, and a loose overshirt that generally buttons up - typical some variation of a plaid coloration with folded sleeves around her elbows. She wears sneakers that are easy to slip on and off, or a pair of boots that deliver a bit of a harder hit than simply sneakers. If it's cold out, she'll probably be seen wearing a hoodie, hat, and fingerless gloves, but besides these things her wardrobe typically stays the same.

The Abilities | "You're not the only one with gifts."
Mutant Powers: LIST .....
- BONE MANIPULATION :: The ability to (re)generate new bone mass, the re-arrangement of bones, and projecting - or even pulling - bones through or out of her skin for use. Unfortunately, though, Taryn is currently unable to control this to a certain extent. She is able to willingly force bones through her skin with no problem, but her bones also protrude when she comes in physical contact with another person, even without her intending to as though it is an unconscious defense. Also, on occasion, her bones may protrude through her skin when she stretches...she is getting better about controlling that, though. As stated above, the shape of the bone itself within her body has little bearing on what it can be shaped like when it appears outside her body. For instance, the carpals of her wrist, which are normally round, can be forced through her skin in a manner of spikes, the same goes for her radius and ulna. Also, if she uses bone(s) to make a weapon of her own, it can be roughly shaped like the weapon, and not like the bone. For example, if she makes a sword from one of her arm bones, the lower third of the sword will be shaped like part of the bone. The handle will also be shaped like the head of the bone. Then, the rest will be long, rigid, and sharp as though she splintered it from the base.
- BONE STRENGTHENING ::
[/li][li]ENHANCED PHYSICAL FITNESS :: Though she is not the strongest mutant around, her body was built for natural strength through physical activity and a 'rough-and-tumble' lifestyle. Her mutation, though, grants her strength, agility, and endurance even past the best Olympic-level human. Her enhanced agility should not be mistaken for enhanced speed, though. She likes to swim, run, and lift weights. However, she has lately taken to yoga and floor work to increase her flexibility.
[/li][li]ACCELERATED HEALING :: A given, she is able to heal rapidly from practically any injury, illness, or poisoning. Without the ability to heal her body rapidly, using her Bone Manipulation would kill her rather easily.

Skills:
- Intermediate-Level Martial Artist - Having taken both private Kenjutsu and public Tae Kwon Do lessons for years when she was younger, Taryn has not let her skills go to waste. She isnt exactly the easiest person to defeat when it comes to a fight, because she is able to use bother her body and a sword. Now, though, she lacks the need to purchase and maintain a sword, seeing as she is able to make one by pulling a bone from her body. Typically, she will pull her Ulna, Radius, or Humerus from either her hand or shoulder to use. Despite the fact her movements are a bit slower than what one would expect of a martial artist, they are precise, fluid, and rather unexpected. She generally moves in a bit of a 'dancing' pattern.
- Anatomy & Biology Buff - Through school she was always one for the sciences in school, particularly biology, you could say that Taryn has developed a natural knack for studying the anatomy of the human body, and is very familiar with it - particularly the musculo-skeletal part of it thanks to her mutation. If she applied herself, she could probably pass as a candidate for medical school in the future.
- Cooking - Although she wasnt born with a cookbook in her mouth, Taryn knows how to cook, often to the surprise of others. If she has a set of ingredients and knows what she can make using some or all of them, she will often make something. Also, if asked to cook, she will gladly do so...so long as she alone can do it, otherwise she'll request help.
- Accomplished Equestrian - Riding for much of her life was not restricted to simply riding for fun. She competed as well, making her name known in the ring of equestrian sports throughout the state of New York, as well as up and down the East Coast.
- Hide-and-Sneak - Having been the outdoorsy sort of person from the get-go, she always liked to play games outside with her friends growing up. From it she gained a considerable amount of natural stealth, camouflage, and hiding techniques, if you will. She is able to efficiently sneak undetected to a designated point, be it a base or right behind the person she's trying to avoid.
- Trailblazer - Her years of wandering through the woods surrounding her house have made her efficient at estimating time and direction based on the position of sun and stars, as well as reading signs (both natural and unnatural) on trails, and maps.
"If you knew the kind of person you used to be.....the work we did together......" | The Past
History: Born and raised in Ticonderoga, New York, Taryn lived a rather adventurous life. Her house was on the border of a lake in the woods, so she often took her time to explore her surroundings to the fullest as a child. She was always the outdoorsy, sporty girl you'd find every now and then. She wasnt afraid to get her hands dirty, climbed trees, ice skated, swam, and rode horses. Having the land they did, as well as the money from her parents' careers, Taryn owned two horses through her lifetime. Her first was a pony that she started out on, then once the pony - Pella - retired, she got a full-sized horse that she did more than just ride around in circles on. Her horse - Adagio - was her love.
Thanks to her constant adventures, she was one of the most athletic girls in her grade at school, and grew to be one of the more 'looker smarts' in her school around the age of fourteen, when she started high school.
Her whole life, though, turned upside down at the age of fifteen and a half. Homecoming night, she was at the dance with the date of her dreams that she'd been working up the courage for a while to ask to the dance - before he asked her. The dance went as any girl could dream it would, they got closer through the night, and all positive emotions were practically bursting through Taryn's heart, which seemed to have a habit of playing hard-to-get. At the end of the night, towards the finale of the last slow dance, he pulled her into a hug/embrace for a small peck on the cheek. It was then that her mutation activated. Holding him close to her body spelled no good. The dance was interrupted moments after his lips touched her cheek by yells of pain from the both of them, soon followed by his body dropping to the floor. Taryn's, however, stayed upright, with his blood on the bones that seemingly ripped out of her ribcage and arms to stand straight and curved as though they were spikes.
Naturally, there was no positive outcome from this. The boy ended up dying; because of their height differences, the ribs that had sprung from Taryn's body punctured his kidney and liver. Taryn instantly became one of the most feared and despised students from the wide friend-basis she'd managed to attain through the years, and her parents instantly pulled her from school. It was shortly thereafter that a teacher from Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters came to her house, to interest Taryn and her parents in the school established in Westchester.
Her parents, eager at this point to basically get rid of her, alongside just about anybody else she had previously known, let her go immediately. The only memory she brought from home (aside from clothes, a stuffed animal, books, other basics, etc.) was Adagio - whom the school was kind enough to offer a boarding place for - and his equipment.
She is still considered a 'new' arrival at the school, having been there for only one week. She is eager to learn how to control the involuntary actions of her mutation so that she doesnt potentially hurt anybody. Although she has only been at the school for such a short time, she has already heard of numerous things around the school, and she has decided that she wants to learn how to both control her power and fight, and eventually become an X-Man.
The Proof | "Most people will never know anything beyond what they see with their own two eyes."
Personality: She holds on to the dream that one day the humans will be able to see that mutants do not need to be met with fear and hatred as they currently are, she is doubtful this will happen. She dislikes being in a situation where she is surrounded by humans, partially out of fear that one will touch her and activate her mutation, but secondly because of their reactions once her mutation activates. She feels as though she is a danger to others, and therefore likes to try to distance herself between them and herself...physically, at least.
Despite the caution she holds about her mutation, she also thinks it's, well, awesome. When given the chance, she likes to show off what it allows her to do. Though there have only been a few occasions where she has done it, when she spars against others, she gets a bit cocky because of the natural supplementary tool external growth of her bones gives her.
Though she has a taste for showing off her mutation at times, she is also concerned about how others - even other mutants - will react to seeing something as 'graphic' as bones popping through her skin, or pulling bones straight out of her body. Her parents reacted with fear and disgust, and she fears others will react the same way, particularly if they unintentionally brush against her and spur the mutation into activation.
Through her life she has maintained her almost 'tomboyish' attitude towards things. She's unafraid to take on new challenges, or strive to accomplish new things. Her determination is something that keeps pressing her forward. Although she may not always win at something, the experience is what matters to her. Something she says often is "I'm wrong often, it's how I get to right" if at first she doesnt succeed with accomplishing her goal. Although she keeps in mind a certain regard and respect for others, she's not afraid to speak her mind, even though sometimes it has come back to bite her in the butt.
That being said, if she senses the gravity of a situation will not appreciate what she has to say, or something she may consider humor to lighten the mood, she will more heavily consider staying silent, and often take that route.
Sample RP:
Taryn stroked her hand over the side of Adagio’s black face lovingly, staring up into the gelding’s large, dark eyes. She pulled his forelock down between his eyes and brushed her fingers down the stripe on the middle of his face. He was such a good friend, and companion. At only five years old, he was still practically a baby. More like a teenager reaching adulthood, much like herself. His lovely black coat practically glistened thanks to the grooming she’d just given him, and the white spots spangled his hips like a blanket, showing the Appaloosa blood in his veins. His height, though, showed the Thoroughbred cross in him. Leaning her head forward, she kissed the bridge of his muzzle before exiting and locking his stall behind her. She was so glad that Professor Xavier had said they had stables on the school grounds for the likes of horses. Taryn had a feeling she would have been heartbroken if her parents wound up selling Adagio.
Walking out of the barn, she looked up into the dark sky. Normally students would be asleep at this point. What was it, midnight? Eleven-something? One-something? She didn’t know. She’d been unable to sleep thanks to a series of memories keeping her awake, so she’d gone to the one thing she had that reminded her of home – Adagio. She’d groomed him lovingly and talked to him. He always stood still, his ears twitching as he listened to her voice, as though he actually understood her. How she wished he could, she would have someone to talk to…someone that would listen…to how much she missed home; despite the fact she was unwanted, hated, and feared. She looked at the ground as she walked to the school quickly, up the steps of the main entrance and sneaking inside. She probably wasn’t supposed to be out that late, but…what were you going to do? She didn’t feel like she could read anything, and at the same time she couldn’t just do nothing, either.
Stepping through the doors, she was surprised to see some students were still awake at this hour. Werent there classes tomorrow, unless she missed something? She wandered quietly, almost aimlessly around the floor, praying silently that there were no students roaming the halls that she couldn’t see…like perhaps if they could turn invisible. The last thing she wanted was to hurt somebody by bumping into them. The silence was broken when she rounded one of the corners. A faint light was on from a door a ways away…was it the kitchen? She silently went forward and heard stomping, followed by an outburst that she knew couldn’t spell anything good for whomever it was directed at.
She quickened her pace slightly and edged through the archway into the kitchen, where her eyes were met with the sight of a large man towering over…a wolf? That…had just spoken? A student…? she wondered, a bit intrigued by the mutation that allowed them to shift into a wolf. That was really cool. However, tension crackled through the air, and…although it might not have been the wisest thing in the world to do, she spoke, as though trying to calm the storm before it broke with a bit of humor.
”Doesn’t anybody sleep around here…?”
