MISSION
Alyssa had arrived in Nuvema Town late in that afternoon. She had contacted Lune only a few days ago to inform him of his assignment to the mission on which she would accompany him. She had arrived a bit early compared to the set time which she had told him. It was currently 5:15 in the evening, and they werent set to meet until some time from 5:30 to 6:00. She always found it best to arrive somewhat early, that would make it easier to become more familiar with ones location. Alyssa spent the next fifteen minutes outside of the town itself, up through Route 1 of Unova. The path was fairly worn and beaten, from many trainers walking back and forth in order to obtain their starting pokemon from the Region’s beloved Professor Juniper.
Hoenn’s Leader had easily located the large, abandoned laboratory that had been built outside of the tiny town. It seemed as though it would be easy enough to infiltrate. She had her lockpicking equipment, so the locks wouldn’t stand a chance in the slightest. She smirked a bit and reached to her belt, pulling off a pokeball. Recently, she’d obtained a Ledyba. Although she had not officially captured the bug-type pokemon, it had come to her when she was in Johto. It had been injured, probably through a tangle with bird pokemon of some sort. Alyssa had healed its injuries easily, through the use of a potion.
Since then, though, the Ledyba had tagged along, refusing to leave her side. Admittedly it was not the most intelligent pokemon out there, it was most definitely friendly and cheerful...but almost too much so, as its nature was incredibly carefree. I suppose this may be a good experience for it... Alyssa thought, grinning a bit. Alyssa backed against a bench on the Route and sat down, the Ledyba hovering around her head.
Now just to wait for Lune.

Wow. Wow.
This was not cool. Lune boarded an plane in Saffron City, meaning to land in Nuvema town. The flight was long, and Lune was tired. He was served a very distasteful meal on the flight, was sitting beside an enthusiastic toddler, and as a general sum, did not have a fantastic flight.
So when Lune stepped off the plane, expecting to see the quiet little Nuvema town, he was sorely disappointed. Instead, the large expanse of Castela City glared him in the face. "Damn it!" Lune cursed loudly, crossing his arms over his chest. A passing old woman glared at him as she hobbled past with her cane. Lune stuck his tongue out at the back of her head.
Seeing no other way around it, Lune walked over to a PC. He pulled out two pokeballs, considering for a moment, before placing Quint, his Vaporeon, and Azazyl, his Chandelure. In exchange, he withdrew his Arcanine, and after a moment's thought, his newly caught Kecleon. His Arcanine, Weliyx, could take him to the abandoned lab much faster than if he went on feet or on a bicycle. Yes, Lune was out of shape. No, he was not proud of it. As for the Kecleon, Lune figured it was time to start bonding with it. What could go wrong?
Shutting off the PC, Lune made his way with the general flow of people out of the air terminal, out of the airport, and to the edge of town. He pulled out his cell phone for a moment, checking his map. Yes, this would appear to be the general direction. He pulled out Weliyx's pokeball, freeing the large canine, who let out a howl at being freed at last. "Hey, buddy." Lune said, running his fingers through the soft fur. Weliyx growled pleasantly, rubbing his head against Lune's hand. "Think you can take me for a ride? I have to get to an abandoned lab."
The Arcanine stood up taller, looking proud, before lowering himself so that Lune could climb on. The teen pulled himself up, fingers pressing down on the canine's shoulders. He would have to run through a few towns, and then into Route 1. "Just keep going for a while, okay?"
This was about an hour ago. It was now 5:45 and he still had a few minutes to go. Weliyx didn't look tired at all, which was good for Lune, but he worried still. He had stopped to give Weliyx a bit of lunch first, as they had been running for the better part of two hours, before continuing on again.
When the abandoned lab finally came into view, it was almost six. "I'm so sorry!" Lune called when he caught sight of Alyssa. "My flight landed in Castelia rather than Nuvema..." Weliyx slowed to a trot, before coming to stand right before Alyssa. "So, I'm a bit late." He dismounted the Arcanine, landing before the other. "Nice to see you again, though."
Lune pulled out his Kecleon, before looking back up at the large Arcanine. "If I need help, I'll let you know." He said softly, wrapping his arms around the tall pokemon's collar. He returned Weliyx to his pokeball, before releasing the green lizard. "Well... I guess we'll see how this goes." He looked up at Alyssa. "Lead the way." [/style] |

Alyssa had closed her eyes for a bit, listening to nothing more than the buzzing of the Ledyba’s wings near her head. The sound was relaxing, and the flight there on the tiny, loud, rickety plane had worn her out. Although she’d been doing nothing but simply sitting, she found travel like that to be one of the more tiresome things in the world. She grately preferred flying on pokemon to planes...perhaps because she was with her pokemon in that time, but perhaps because it helped her stay more awake.
A pounding of feet – although soft – woke her up slightly. She was conscious enough to register the words shouted to her. She recognized Lune’s voice instantly and opened her eyes when he admitted to his tardiness. Alyssa sat up and tilted her head to the side, cracking her neck slight as she did so. Resting on a bench had never done her much good, now or in the past. The Veteran Trainer admired the regal canine pokemon from which Lune dismounted. She had always found Arcanines to be beautiful creatures, one of the most elegant and striking pokemon out there, not to mention fast on their feet.
She put her hands in her pockets and looked down at the Kecleon Lune had released. ”That the Kecleon you caught in Fortree?” she asked, smiling a bit, deciding to wait for a moment before she headed towards the laboratory which they were targeting for their mission. Ledyba turned to Alyssa and squeaked some, looking at the Kecleon before pulling on her trainer’s pantleg. A bit shy, huh? Alyssa mused slightly, before reaching to her belt and clicking off another pokeball. It opened to reveal the young Kricketot that had befriended Ledyba one day while the Five-Star pokemon was eating honey from a tree. Convinced her trainer would show the other bug-type pokemon the same openness she was shown, Ledyba had returned to Alyssa with the Kricketot.
My heart’s in the right place, but my mind’s not... the white haired trainer thought, smirking slightly as the two bugs went up to try to talk to Lune’s Kecleon together. War isn’t a time to try training new pokemon unless I know what I’m doing... Generally, Alyssa knew what she was doing quite well when it came to anything pokemon. However, as far as contests and bug-types went, she was about as good as a trainer that had only been on their journey for five years rather than sixteen as she had been.
Glancing from their pokemon to Lune, she nodded a bit. ”It’s good to see you again as well. The laboratory is this way. Hope you don’t mind Ledyba and Kricketot...they’re fairly new so I figure this would be a time to show them the ropes. Learn by doing, in a way.” smiling a bit, she started walking, gesturing to him to come along. ”Ledyba, Kricketot. Don’t fall behind...and don’t bother Lune’s Keckleon too much, you hear?”

"Yes, it is." He said with a smile. "Surprised you remembered. I haven't decided whether or not to give her, at least I think it's a her, a name." He followed Alyssa as she made her way towards the laboratory watching as their pokemon all interacted. Lune wasn't particularly entranced by bug types. He wasn't against them, but they weren't his favourite.
The Kecleon looked up at Lune, almost asking for permission. The teenager kneeled down and smiled, patting the Kecleon's head. He stood back up as the Kecleon eagerly interacted with the other two bug types, following Alyssa into the lab. It was fairly dilapidated. The walls were worn and dirty, the metal machinery rusted over. It looked incredibly old, and the whole place was silent.
"Wow." Lune said in a hushed tone. "It seems like it's really been a long time." He stepped inside cautiously. They had been informed that something might pop out at them, and to tread carefully. It was slightly dark, and Lune fumbled a little for the light switch. He couldn't find one for a while, stumbling through the dark away from the entrance and a little bit away from Alyssa.
When Lune finally found the light switch, it was dim at best. He looked up at the dangling light bulb, frowning slightly. Lune raised a hand and tapped the light bulb, watching as it swung precariously. As it moved, it glinted off something metal. "Alyssa." He called, pointing up at it. It looked like four semi circles, dangling from a metal bar. "I wonder what this is?"
Lune reached up with both hands, ignoring his Kecleon making noises at him. "Oh, it'll be fi--" Lune was interrupted as two of the outer half-circles rotated, snapping his wrists inside of a circle. "Oh, come on." Lune groaned, before being yanked up slightly. His legs were barely off the ground, but he suspected that it was still too high up for Alyssa to get to. "You have got to be kidding me." Two minutes into this abandoned lab and he had already gotten ensnared in an unusual trap. He glanced at Alyssa. "A little help?" [/STYLE]

Alyssa glanced back for a moment to assure Lune was following her before smiling some at the sight of their pokemon getting along well enough. Alyssa held the strong belief that, by nature, pokemon were friendly creatures that much preferred playing and working together as opposed to battle. However, when no longer in their natural habitats and under the ownership of trainers, an urge and will to fight to prove themselves for their trainers replaced the inherent nature that she believed pokemon held. However... she glanced down at the four pokeballs on her belt that currently held pokemon. Although her pokemon were trained for any battle, and able to be a merciless opponent when it came to a match, they were different outside of battle for the most part – once they got to know other pokemon and trainers, of course.
They got to the abandoned laboratory soon enough, and the door locks had been picked swiftly. There was no extra security on the building aside from those initial locks, luckily for them. A blaring alarm system to alert everyone to their presence and investigation of the building was the last thing they wanted. Although the light switched on by Lune after a moment helped reveal the interrior of the laboratory, it still could have been a fair bit better. She was stepping cautiously around the immediate interior of the building, looking around. She couldn’t see much of where the hallways and two stairwells before them went, and it soon faded into blackness. Her foot caught on the edge of an ajar door and sent the white-haired trainer stumbling forward, cursing quietly under her breath before Lune got her attention.
”Alyssa. I wonder what this is?”
Narrowing her eyes, Alyssa walked forward quietly, before speaking, coupling her voice with that of Lune’s Kecleon’s. ”Er...Lune...” She had only managed to begin speaking before she was cut off by Lune being yanked up into the air. The younger boy was suspended a few feet above the ground about six feet in front of her. He looked at her, asking for help, and she couldn’t help but snicker a bit. ”I should have reminded you that this place might be full of booby traps...” she said, beginning to step forward. ”If there’s traps like this, then that means there’s –“
She was cut off as something fastened around her ankle and wipped her up into the air. ”Gah!” she exclaimed, flailing slightly, only to stop as a sharp pain rocketed through her leg and hip. She hung in the air for a moment, rather beside Lune. The trap that had caught around her ankle was looped around a pressure-sensitive pulley system on the ceiling, and after being drawn to its full height, leaving Alyssa’s eyes about level with Lunes. A fall from this height would be worse for her than him. As she rotated slightly, her hat fell, letting fall as well, the long white strands practically straight down.
”...something...worth protecting...” she finished, rather humiliated by her own clumsiness getting her caught in a trap as well. She looked over at the sound of high-pitched, repetitive squeaking. Ledyba and Kricketot were on their backs with laughter, their little legs flailing with hysterics. Closing her eyes, their trainer sighed. They wouldn’t be able to help, unless she wanted to sit there and wait for them to gnaw through the wire cord strung around her ankle. However, that option was out of the question seeing as blood was rushing to her head.
Sighing, she looked back at Lune. ”Give me a minute...” The Veteran trainer paused for a moment before curling upwards, using the strength of her abdominal muscles to pull her torso upward. However, a pained squeak accompanied her falling back to normal, grimacing slightly. That wasn’t the smartest thing I’ve done all day... she thought. ”You...uh...don’t happen to have a knife, do you?” she asked.
~*~*~
With their trainer currently preoccupied, Kricketot and Ledyba saw the perfect opportunity to go exploring on their own. They wouldn’t go far, definitely not. They just wanted to see what was down some stairs. Ledyba managed to come out of the hysteric fit first, poking Kricketot and the Kecleon. Gesturing with her antenna to the downward-facing stairwell, she nodded and quietly began sneaking in that direction.

His arms were pulled straight up above his head, and his shoulders were beginning to ache. The metal was tight around his wrist, and Lune cringed. It would bruise for sure. If he had a bobby pin, he could probably undo the locks, but seeing as how he didn't, he was potentially stuck.
"Thanks for the warning." Lune said sarcastically. He looked over. Alyssa wasn't that far away from him. He tried swinging to gain some momentum, but the metal bar wouldn't budge. Instead, the metal dug into his wrists a little, and he winced. Well, that was a bad idea.
Lune watched as Alyssa tried to pull herself up, but then failed. He couldn't help but chuckle a little, before realizing that they really were both stuck. It took a moment to completely sink in, but when it did, Lune couldn't help but simply heave a sigh. "All right then."
Their pokemon were laughing. Their pokemon were laughing at them. This was not fun. Kecleon was falling over laughing. Lune hmph-ed and turned away. He didn't notice with the trio scuttled off, not knowing that it could potentially be very dangerous. Lune was simply thinking, why were they here again?
At Alyssa's question, Lune had an idea. He didn't have a knife on him, no, Lune was against knives. However, he did have something. "I do have a Haxorus that can cut us out." Lune said, grinning. "I, er, can't get it though. It's in my pocket." Lune didn't know if Alyssa would be comfortable with reaching into his pocket, but he could only hope. What's a little awkwarness to getting out alive? "If you can just get it, call him out, he can cut us out no problem." [/STYLE]

Alyssa let her un-trapped leg bend as she crossed it over her other leg to think, before looking up at him when he spoke. A Haxorus? Ah geez... she thought, sighing some, trying to think. That was a pokemon from Unova...something she wasn’t as familiar with as Hoenn. Then again, she wasn’t as familiar with anything as she was with something of Hoenn. Wait...it had been mentioned before. She’d seen some. Oh...! It came to her a few moments later. It was that Dragon-type pokemon she had seen with the cutting blades on the sides of its head...the one that had used Outrage when they took care of the Kecleon.
A fair Dragon-type... she thought, nodding slighty as though she were not hanging upside-down about seven feet above the ground. Though she gave no reaction to his words....or in this case, they were probably closer to instructions...visibly, she responded moments later through movements. The white-haired trainer extended her arm, reaching for Lune’s beltline to see if she could reach even that, but to no avail. ”Damnit...Arceus...” she muttered. Her build had remained relatively diminutive over the years, and she hadn’t gained much height since she was a teenager, as opposed to the long-limbed young man beside her.
”Uh...” she flushed slightly and looked to the side before sheepishly admitting, ”I’m not tall enough..” After a moments though, she reached to her own belt and pulled clicked off a pokeball, expanding it in her hand before letting it open to reveal, with a red flash of light, the chivalrous pokemon within. Her Gallade stood tall, looking around in confusion for a moment before looking up, seeing his trainer and Lune in a rather strange fix.
”Hey, Knight...” Alyssa murmured, trying not to be amused by the look on the pokemon’s face. ”Mind helping us down? Lune first..he’ll be easier to get down.” The Gallade nodded and crouched, looking at his trainer for the go-ahead. ”Leaf Blade”
The arm blades of the pokemon glowed green before he leapt into the air, cutting the wire binding Lune’s hands to the ceiling, letting the young male drop to the ground. He used his momentum to jump off the wall beside them before cutting his own trainer’s wires with one arm, catching her in the other before carrying her carefully to the ground lest she hurt herself. Alyssa stood quickly, wincing as her strained hip had weight applied on it.
”Thanks for that one, Knight, I –“ Her voice was cut off by a muffled sound, accompanied by ear-splitting shrieks that sent chills up Alyssa’s back, instantly putting her on high alert. ”Return!” The pokeball was back on her belt in a flash with the pokemon safe inside. She spared a glance at Lune before running towards the source of the sound, a stairwell. It had not even occurred to her that their pokemon were nowhere to be seen.
As soon as she rounded the corner and flicked on the light of the stairwell that a terrible sight met her eyes. Blood sprayed the floor and walls, dripping off the spikes that had peirced through the Ledyba, Kricketot, and Kecleon. Her blue eyes were wide with the fear evident from the flashback that was coursing through her mind at high speed.
Grandma and Grandpa’s bodies....their pokemon’s bodies....blood staining my hands and shoes...the walls crimson...the floors maroon...thoughtless slaughter...for no reason....no reason I know...innocent blood shed....the first strike of war...
Blood dripped from the pokemo, and down the spikes that had raised out of the stairwell to puncture them from below, effectively killing them. Only a few post-mortem signals from their nerves made claws or antenna twitch. Their death had been quick, but painful.
So....so....much blood...
Alyssa felt her lungs seizing up, her stomach cramping. She wanted to turn away from the horrible sight before her, but felt rooted to the spot. Without the trainer realizing it, her knees buckled from beneath her body and she landed on the ground, her wide eyes locked on the sight before her.

He used to be quite short as well when he was younger, but when he reached the coming of age, he shot up in inches at a time. "So I see." Lune said, watching as Alyssa finally gave up, before pulling out her own pokeball.
The pokeon that popped out was a rather fine Gallade, and Lune had to take a moment to admire him. He could tell that Alyssa had raised him sell, and smiled. When the Gallade charged at him, Lune squeezed his eyes shut instinctively. The Gallade has sliced right down the bar and in between his wrists, and winced when he felt the blade slice his skin slightly. It was long, but wasn't at all a deep cut, however, and would heal fairly quickly. Maybe only a bandaid would be needed.
Lune fell to the ground, stumbling a little. His shoulders ached as he lowered them, fingers rubbing his bruised wrists. He was trying to make the ache on his wrists go away by gently rubbing them when he heard the muffled noise and pained screams as well. His blood ran cold, eyes widening. His instinct took over, hand quickly retrieving Weliyx's pokeball and releasing the dog.
The teenager followed Alyssa as she chased the sound, the Arcanine following quickly. There was no twinkle in Weliyx's eyes this time, he could feel the tension. The only thing Lune could hear was the panting of his breath and the blood pounding through his ears as he ran, before skidding to a stop. He was horrified by the sight before him, eyes zeroing in on the green lizard.
The Kecleon, Lune hadn't even had time to give him a name, was impaled cruelly right through his abdomen. The pokemon managed a few pained twitches, before going limp. Lune was frozen, body slightly trembling as he stared. The stench of blood was quickly permeating the air, and making Lune sick to his stomach. "A-Alyssa." Lune said quietly, seeing her own two pokemon impaled as well. Red liquid dripped along the metal spikes, pooling at the bottom in a thick puddle.
So young, Lune's hand flew up to his mouth to supress vomitting. He clutched his abdomen, leaning heavily on Weliyx, who had his head bowed, eyes closed. Lune turned around, hand moving to cover his nose as well. He had no emotional attachment to the Kecleon quite yet, being so emotionally stunted now. He wasn't sad, he didn't feel any sort of loss. Had it been Weliyx or Xynith, however, he most likely would have broken down completely.
However, Lune was still very young. He hadn't seen a scene like this in a long time, blood everywhere. There was blood on the walls from the impalement, high velocity spatter. They stood no chance. They didn't die instantly, or at least, Lune's Kecleon didn't. The feeble twitching of the lizard's hands was horrifying to watch, and had Lune feeling sick. He was getting dizzy, and his head felt light. He heard Alyssa fall to the ground with a faint noise.
An odd sensation came over Lune as he watched the ground suddenly come closer and closer. His eyes closed slowly as he fell, and the last thing he registered was Alyssa on her knees, horrified as he was by the sight. Weliyx quickly dived to catch his trainer, trying to move him so that Lune was on his back more. He succeeded half way so that Lune was simply slung over his back, before padding over to Alyssa.
The Arcanine lowered his head, nudging Alyssa with his nose. He whined quietly, not wanting to look at the scene before him. Lune was unconscious, and she seemed in bad shape as well. [/STYLE]

Her blue eyes remained locked on the terrible sight before her, mostly on her two young bug pokemon. She had never been fond of bug pokemon, no, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t feel something at their loss. She had no attachment to the pokemon yet, not like she did her other pokemon, minus the Kecleon she had caught at the same time as Lune had caught his. Were it any of her other pokemon, she would have lost it completely. If it had been Daybreak or Swampert....she didn’t want to think about it. She had a feeling that if a heart could actually break, hers would have. Death would be a more pleasureable experience than living without them. She knew that would be the last thing they’d want, but her bond with them was so deep-seeded that they were a part of her.
When she was snapped out of her trance-like state when she felt a wet sensation on her nose. She found her gaze had been locked with the pools of blood forming beneath the pokemon, dripping down the spikes that had taken their lives with puddles of crimson liquid forming around them. She managed to just barely look over at Lune’s Arcanine. Her partner was worse than her. Based on his limp shape across the Arcanine’s back, the Nox Leader’s guess was that the young man had passed out completely. Only barely managing to scrape herself together, she raised a shaky hand and placed it on the jaw of the Arcanine, her fingers meshing with its regal fur. ”Y.....you go......” she managed to choke out, her words strained. ”Get L-lune out of here....pr...protect your trainer.” she swallowed thickly. ”I....will finish this mission....and....” she glanced at the pokemon before shuddering, ”...take care of things here...”
A pokeball on her belt burst open, revealing the small form of Daybreak next to her beloved trainer. Sadness swam in the Espeon’s gaze as she saw the pokemon. She knew looking at it would not help the matter, but now she needed to push her trainer onwards. She stepped forward, brushing her cheek against Alyssa, quietly repeating her name in a short commentary of ‘Espee, Espee’s. Alyssa managed to slowly push herself to her feet and stare ahead, her mind only focused on completeing the mission as fast as possible.
The psychic abilities of an Espeon would prove useful in this instance. Their highly sensitive fur and incredible psychic powers made traps almost impossible to use successfully. The velvet-fine fur on their bodies helped them predict the short-term, immediate future. The only thing Alyssa knew now is that she was getting close to a key source of information, if a trap like this had been set up. Not paying mind to know if Lune and his Arcanine were still about, she walked forward slowly before pointing at the spikes in their path.
Daybreak’s eyes glowed a light blue and the red gem on her forehead sparkled slightly as she tapped into her psychic abilities. Using Psychic, Daybreak pulled the spikes from the ground – save for the ones with the pokemon on them – and laid them off to the side where nobody would be harmed from them. Her trainer nodded half-heartedly and continued on.

A few flights of stairs and disabled traps later, Alyssa found herself in the bottommost room of the laboratory. It was vacant save for a round table with chairs, bookshelves, and most importantly, a safe. A glance at the titles of the books told Alyssa none were of use to her. She was after more sensitive information...the sort of information that would be locked in a safe.
The theory behind leaving valuable information in a safe of an abandoned laboratory was that people would long be dead trying to access the information, having fallen victim to the traps laid out to snare them. That being said, the safe was fairly basic. Previously, when people still worked in the laboratory, they would inhabit this room. Nobody would work for the lab if they posed a threat and could not be trusted. Therefore, the only members that would have access to this room were the most trusted, and would have a key for the many locks on the safe.
Reaching into her pocket, Alyssa pulled out the three tools she felt she would need for this operation. She spent about ten minutes configuring the locks to unlock. When the safe opened, Alyssa only glanced through the files and papers stacked there – to make sure they were not blank – before putting them into her bag, emptying the contents to take back with her. Standing, she glanced at Daybreak before nodding silently. The Espeon nodded and began trotting back the way they came, Alyssa following swiftly.
She wanted to get out of here as fast as possible.

A while, and one near-miss with a trap, later, Alyssa was back in the stairwell where she’d left Lune. His lack of presence told her his Arcanine had followed her instructions for the better of his trainer. Now the only being in the lab were Alyssa, Daybreak, and the bodies of their pokemon. The white-haired trainer looked at the skewered bodies for a long moment, swaying slightly on the spot, the sight of the blood making her feel week.
”Espee, Espeon!”

The young woman’s jaw clenched and she took off her gloves, folding the mid-upper-arm length dressings up to fit in her pockets. She walked closer to the bodies of the pokemon. I...can’t just leave them here...[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
