Eight days and, with the sole exception of Platinum, someone who knew him far too well for him to get away with anything as blatant as an Explosion, the previous visit seemed to have been utterly ignored. He spotted construction equipment several blocks from where he was- the approximate area of the apartments, he noted- but did not approach at all. They say that criminals return to the scene of the crime. Ric was not a criminal. He was a freedom fighter. A hunter of Nox. He spent the day avoiding much of society while still remaning within the crowds. He did not go into any buildings nor did he wander anywhere alone. Every turne he made took him to a new crowded or semi-crowded area and every double-back he did ensured that no pattern was established where he walked. He packed his own meals for the day before leaving Ecruteak City so that he would no thave to purchase food. The bathroom situation was salvaged courtesy of a large party happening on the beach where there were portapoties he could use. The beach! That was his goal. Not only the beach, however. The beach at night. Night was the target time. His brother, Ji, The Ghost had tought him that. He could hide in the shadows and move without being seen. Night was also when the ugly side of the Nox appeared. The true result of Nox society. The rampant decadants, the whoring and utter anarchy. When he last came to Olivine, that was how he found his target. The party on the beach had been a sweltering cesspool of Nox propaganda and anti-Lux people. When the night came, Ric was back at the beach. As before, it was crowded. There were people everywhere, but the vast bulk of them were crowded around a massive wooden platform with brihgt lights and towers of speakers. Men were screaming some horrible sound that everyone seemed to be moving their bodies to, as though in some pathetic parody of actual dancing. It sickened Ric and caused his perpetual scowl to deepen. T he dark sunglasses were off for the night and he was walking at an angle around the stage to find a place where he could begin his assault without having any witnesses. During a speech that was more hot-words than any substance- all against the Lux of course- Ric found a good place behind a life guard shack. The area was deserted. He released all six of his pokemon from his pokeballs: Neta, his Venasaur, Chike, his Tyranitar, Odysseus his Kadabra, Zeus his Pidgeot, Abaddon his Golem and Shahnaz his Tepig. He started quietly. The bright lights and the general cloud of smoke of various types over the crowd would hide the Poison Powder and Sleep Powder that Neta sprayed in their direction. Zeus assisted by flapping his powerful wings, sending the powder into the crowd. As coughing and collapsing began near the edges- Ric could not see how much the center was being effected- Shahnaz used Smog to continue the toxification of the crowd. This was where Ric needed to be quick and decisive. He had Odyssus climb onto Zeus's back and the Pidgeot took to the skies. Abaddon curled up and sat next to Chike. Just as Tepig and Venasaur began to walk forward towards the back of the coughing, gagging crowd, Abadonn used Steamwroller and charged into the thick mass of people, following closly the brihgt white beam of Chike's Hyperbeam attack. The energy beam and the rolling stone shot straight throught he crowd, though Abadon stopped int he center. Neta, once she reached her effective attacking range, sprayed dozens of razer sharp leaves into the shocked and confused crowd. Shahnaz unleashed a flamethrow just as the panick began. Bodies and parts of bodies managed to prevent people from effectively scattering. Those sick from the poisonpowder and smog were also in the way of those who managed to remain unaffected. Ric advanced, standing between Neta and Shahnaz with his pistol raised. He began to fire. He aimed each shot as best he could, but the the chaos was in fulls wing now. There were bodies everywhere. Screams of terror and agony ripped the night air, effectively drowning the sound of Ric's gunshots. His ten bullets were spent within seconds. He loaded a second clip while sendning his thoughts to Odysseus. The Kadabra, high above the chaos, relayed the commands to Abaddon who remained curled up int he center of the area. The crwod was thiner now, but people were still running every which direction, and the injured and unconcious who could not move would not escape. THe explosion lit up the night. Neta stepped in front of Ric to shield him fromt he force of the blast. As she did, Ric dual-returned Shahnaz and Chike, the latter of whom was still recharging. Neta was the next to return to her pokeball and Zeus once he returned. The last two to appear were Odyssus with a fainted Abaddon in tow. After the Explosion, Odysseus teleported off of Pidgeot to the ground by Abaddon. He then brought his comrade back to Ric. Ric returned the golem to the safety of the pokeball. Holding the hand of his master, Odysseus then teleported himself and Ric back to Ecruteak City. The entire assault took three minutes. Dead: 48 Badly Wounded: 74 Injured: 163 |
