Alyssa went over the orders in her mind. Assault Olivine City. Take down their beloved Lighthouse. Alyssa swallowed. That was one of the things she had admired the most about the city. Swallowing, she knew where she was expected to go. She had the resources needed to get her directly to the lighthouse. In order to topple it, it would probably be most effective to attack the base of it. Something powerful that would be able to slice right through it or make it crumble. She had something in mind that would be able to start that process. However, the more pressing matter was to deal with the trainer…s that would stand in Nox’s way.
War is about to break… Alyssa thought, frowning visibly but swallowing a lump in her throat that grew. Pokemon and people were going to get hurt. She clenched her jaw and forced back any more emotion.
Pokemon aren’t meant to fight….not like this…
Inhaling sharply to try to give herself confidence, she practically jumped to land as Nox’s boats crashed to the shore. Pulling one pokeball off her belt, she tossed it into the air. ”Flygon! It’s time to go!” Her green Mystic Pokemon’s wingbeats started humming as soon as his form materialized from the pokeball. She ran to him and leapt upon his back.
”Let’s ride!”
For a few seconds, they were no more than a flash of green streaking into the sky, their backs to the setting sun. Diving towards the lighthouse’s plateau. She narrowed her eyes and focused on one target near the base, a green-haired young man. She saw his mouth moved but got there too long afterwards to hear what he had said. She stopped practically in front of him, hovering about eight feet in the air on Flygon’s back, looking down at him while she remained about twenty feet away.
Swallowing, she looked to the top of the lighthouse. ….I hope the Ampharos – her worried thoughts were cut off as the light produced by the electric pokemon shone out to the sea. She bit her lip in concern. She didn’t want the pokemon to get hurt, but as of right now it seemed practically inevitable. As much as she wanted to get it out of harm’s way, she needed to concentrate on her mission. Swallowing, she pulled off two pokeballs from her belt.
”Cannon, Aurora!”
The two forms below her materialized as a Metagross and Gardevoir respectively. Lowering herself to the ground she took the time to look at her opponent. He had a Gardevoir with him as well, alongside a Magneton and Altaria. Staying on Flygon’s back, she positioned her green pokemon between the white and blue ones. Leaning back slightly, she spoke quietly to Aurora.
The pain in Aurora’s eyes was reflected in Alyssa’s heart. Aurora wasn’t the kind of pokemon to want to destroy, but she would do what her trainer told her to do. And her trainer was commanded by her sense of justice and morals. Swallowing, Alyssa spoke quietly,
”Aurora….focus your mind to raise your power – Calm Mind….then once you’ve done this significantly, focus the energy into an attack at the right side of the base of the lighthouse – Hyper Beam.” She paused, before adding, ”However, make it look as though you are only standing by to help when needed.”
The less obvious it was that Alyssa was planning to attack the lighthouse directly, the best chance she had of succeeding.
Glancing at Cannon, she looked up at the trainer before her. ”We don’t have to fight…we could both be more concerned with the well-being of our pokemon…” Alyssa’s heart was in those words. Using her pokemon for war was the last thing she had in mind when she captured them. ”All you need to do is stand aside; then you and your pokemon will be safe.”
If not… she added silently. Then brace yourself…

Alyssa swallowed her discomfort as her opponent shot back with words of his own. She grit her teeth and clenched her fist. Why must everyone be at war?! What had happened to the world she had once known?! Everything had been flipped since she first started her journey so many years ago. Pokemon were rarely used anymore for battles purely for sport, but instead in vicious battles like the one that was about to erupt before her. Alyssa hated these wars. The violence that had grown in battles wasn’t something Alyssa wanted to throw her beloved pokemon into, but following her morals she found herself under Nox’s wing, and carrying out their orders only to see the tyranny that the League had become fall back to its rightful place, the way it had been years back.
Her eyes narrowed as the trainer’s Magneton and Altaria obeyed his commands. Things were about to get dangerous. Time to get on the ground… she thought. She leapt off of Flygon’s back and planted her feet in the grass, watching as the enemy pokemon came towards her. Alyssa could sense that the Magneton was building up an immense amount of electrical power. Thunderbolt? Thunder? Discharge? Glancing up in the sky where the Altaria had flown, she watched its body move fluidly in almost acrobatic perfection. Dragon Dance…she’s preparing for a bigger attack.
Her eyes darted between the two pokemon and she determined their targets. Altaria was the only pokemon in the fight that could effectively damage Flygon. Glancing at the green pokemon, she nodded, before quietly whispering ”Flamethrower…” The Mystic Pokemon stiffened his wings, preparing to take off. Cannon shifted slightly, standing his ground against the Magneton that had electricity sparkling around it. As soon as a purple orb formed within the beak of the Altaria, Flygon took off into the sky, out of the line of the Dragon Pulse. He would keep the Altaria at bay…it was his strategy. Fly in circles around them then launch an attack when he felt he had the upper hand.
A Discharge of electricity raced towards Alyssa’s side of the field. Being part-ground type, Flygon would remain unaffected, but the others could be. Blinking in surprise as Aurora moved up beside her, Alyssa felt the pokemon’s hand on her shoulder, and the trainer alongside her Gardevoir was protected by a barrier of psychic energy. Metagross, on the other hand, took a full brunt of the attack. He barely moved, in fact, the stoic pokemon hardly blinked. He didn’t move, though, which surprised Alyssa. Although the damage done by the electrical attack was not enough to command a reaction from him, Metagross was paralyzed for the moment. However, he moved a few precious seconds later as he regained himself.
”Cannon, use Meteor Mash.” The heavy blue pokemon’s body became slightly distorted as the psychic energy around its body made him float. Picking his four legs up and folding them outwards against his head/body, he floated upwards until he was on the same level as the Magneton. Suddenly, his body flashed uncharacteristically quickly around the Magneton, as though he were floating in a circle but only ‘blinking’ from place to place with his Agility.
On the fourth flash Cannon appeared behind Magneton, his clawed arms glowing gold as he levitated towards the electric-and-steel type pokemon, hoping to do some damage. A gold, meteor-shaped sphere appeared in the center of the Metagross's claws, as he prepared to deal his signature move, Meteor Mash
A flash of fire from the corner of her eyes told Alyssa that Flygon had launched his first burst of flame in an attempt at scorching the Altaria with Flamethrower.
Narrowing her eyes, Alyssa shouted back at the younger trainer.
”Don’t blame me for the actions of Nox!” she yelled, angered. ”I’m only a person following orders because im driven by my morals, no other reason! If it were up to me I would have rescued Ampharos before we attacked your lighthouse! Instead, my instructions were to take down any defensive lines! Nox is made up of individuals, not like-minded robots!”
She paused, clenching her free fist before adding.
”Pokemon are, and always have been my friends! I would never hurt a pokemon for reason other than battle for sport, but the world has driven both of us to fight in this war!”

Alyssa closed her eyes tight at the other’s words. She knew how terrible they sounded, and what sort of position it put her in. Following orders of Nox was the closest thing to being a like-minded robot of the other members. But she had maintained her strength to cling to her reasons for joining, and not getting sucked into the scheme of war that had broken out around the pokemon world for sake of control and freedom of its citizens. While her eyes were closed, she maintained a sharp sense of hearing on the battle, trying to listen to determine what was going on.
The Dragon Dances were beginning to pay off, and the Altaria’s speed was beginning to gain on Flygon’s, although the green Mystic pokemon remained faster. He continued to make his round of aerials while keeping the pokemon in view, occasionally letting out a flare of fire as he remained revved up for the next series of attacks dished out by the fluffy-feathered pokemon. If this battle were to take flight, then Flygon would follow it high into the sky as needed. He had no attacks that allowed him to increase his speed, but what he lacked by his diverse abilities and determination. His red-covered eyes glanced downwards as the Altaria fell of her own accord.
Although curious, he remained cautious, and for good reason. A moment later the pokemon let out a shriek, almost resembling the sound of a lament. Turning upwards she jabbed her beak towards Flygons belly.
”Fly…!”
An exclamation of surprise was heard from the dragon pokemon as he barely skirted out of the way in time. However, even with his reflexive action he failed to get away unscathed. His right leg and lower underbelly were tinged red and sore from the sharp jabs of the beak. It was enough to make him fall for a moment before he changed his course of action. Sweeping form his fall smoothly into a dive, he flicked his tail against the ground as he barely skirted over it, the sound cracking through the air like a bullwhip as he took off at the Altaria, determined to get her back. As he neared, he extended his clawed hand, his claws glowing blue with Dragon Claw.
Cannon on the other hand was having a different sort of battle with the Magneton. As the pokemon recovered from the successful hit of Meteor Mash, it let out an ear-splitting wave of sound…Supersonic. The Metagross’ red eyes closed as he winced, trying to ignore the sound. He knew it would confuse him, but he was determined to gain his senses back as quickly as possible. As soon as the sound stopped, he opened his eyes. Two Magnetons were sparkling with electricity as they came towards him.
Hovering to the left, closer to the path of one of the Magnetons, he was soon struck straight-on by the attack.
”Gross!” The blue pokemon winced, a near-mechanical grunt coming from his body. Opening his eyes as he recovered, he floated back up from where he had drifted downwards. Alyssa opened her eyes again to look at her pokemon. Though Metagross was generally a stoic pokemon, the only expression she had ever seen on his almost frozen face was anger. His red eyes were narrowed, even moreso than they normally were.
The silver ‘X’ on Metagross’ face glowed a light blue, and he stared straight into the eyes of the Magneton. The Magneton’s body became illuminated with the same light blue from Metagross’ face, portraying the tell-tale signs of the infamous Psychic attack.
”Meta...gross...”
Alyssa knew now that Cannon could take control of the opponents mind…he’d done it to King once shortly after she caught him as a Metang. Cannon directed the Magneton towards the ground, forcing the electric-type pokemon to lay flat on the ground Metagross hovered over it before dropping, landing on all four legs, splayed over the somewhat smaller pokemon. Small craters formed beneath Cannon’s claws that penetrated into the ground before shockwaves were sent out across the whole area, disrupting other battles and trainers as well as the intended target in a comparatively small Earthquake, with Magneton as the epicenter.
Alyssa almost fell to the side from the Earthquake. No matter how many times one of her pokemon used the attack the immense power of it always startled and disoriented her. Aurora put her arms around Alyssa, making sure her trainer didn’t fall over.
Standing tall, Alyssa’s response was shouted, over the other battles, back at the green-haired boy.
”Don’t get the wrong impression!” she said, clenching her jaw.
”My personal goals are only linked to Nox’s by orders I’m forced to carry out! I want to see all of this war end! I hate it! My personal goals are restoring the world to what it used to be and ending all of this needless war! I am only forced to fight like this because of the warring world that evolved from what we used to live in!”
Stifling anger, though her eyes burned with sightless tears she’d felt when she first realized how views of trainers had been split to Lux and Nox a few years ago.
”Pokemon aren’t meant to fight!" she shouted at him.
"Not like this!”

Alyssa’s shoulders shook as she struggled to contain herself. Since the world had stepped down to a lower level than it had previously been at, her emotions had been prone to breaking free more often and far more easily than they were prior to the hardships that Alyssa felt from the wars. Inhaling sharply, she stifled the near-sob that threatened to tear from her chest. She hated seeing pokemon fight like this, but it was something they were required to do. There was no such thing as ‘gray area’ in the world anymore…just black and white. The white was unjust, so Alyssa’s morals had driven her to the black. A squeal ripped from the air, and Alyssa’s head snapped upwards to look.
The Altaria was badly cut from Flygon’s Dragon Claw, and red glistened against its blue body and white feathers. As much of a trickster and light-hearted pokemon Alyssa knew Flygon was, when it came to battle he was absolutely vicious, almost on par with that of a Salamence. Her Mystic Pokemon was injured, too. His underside was red from the Altaria’s attacks, and the Humming pokemon zoomed at him, tangling her wings with his as she geared up for an attack, before releasing it at point-blank range against Flygon’s back.
Alyssa felt as though her heart were ripped through slowly with the anguished cry Flygon let out, as he fell out of the sky, trying to keep his flight. He clumsily slipped past the edge of the cliff on which the other portion of the battle was taking place, and out of the line of sight from any pokemon or person. Alyssa automatically tried to dart forward, but Aurora held her back, her worried eyes round with concern as she shook her head. If she left now, Alyssa would only get hurt.
”Flygon!” Alyssa screamed, her shoulders shaking again as the emotion ripped through her body. Though she hadn’t cried in a long time, or rather…done the physical act of turning on the water works…it was obvious when she was doing the equivalent of such. ”Flygon!” she yelled again, her throat aching from just the second scream.
He can take more than that…! she told herself fiercely, trying to calm herself. ….I know he can!
Turning her distressed gaze back to the battle, Alyssa saw the Magneton recover only with the opponent’s Gardevoir’s help. The angry electric pokemon ripped through the air with another assault of Discharge, followed by a supersonic. The burst of electricity caused Cannon to flinch downwards as he endured the hit. He was a sturdy pokemon…Alyssa would give him that. Luckily for both of them the steel typing he had helped minimize electric attacks effectiveness. However…there was nothing they could do about the ear-splitting Supersonics. Cannon remained immobile, with his eyes closed, Alyssa knew he was concentrating, trying not to get sucked into the same double-vision confusion he had only just snapped out of.
Cannon turned to look at the floating Magneton, his red eyes unnaturally free from any sort of expression. The silver ‘X’ on its face glowed again, however… this time multi-colored like light refracting through a prism. Picking his legs up again he rose into the air. Maintaining the glowing ‘X’, he used a burst of Agility again and ‘flashed’ around the Magneton, until he appeared right in front of its three eyes. His red eyes stared at the Magneton unblinkingly, the X still glowing. A multicolored shadow reached out from behind Cannon's body and above his head, taking the shape of a large wave before it crashed downwards, hoping to hurt the Magneton and slap the pokemon to the ground with its Psychic powers.
…a different intention of Psychic… Alyssa thought. She had recognized it immediately. Metagross’ Psychic’s were special, in a way, she had learned. It could be used both for harm and gaining control of the opponent. A trainer quickly learned that it depended upon the glowing color of the ‘X’ on their Metagross’ face.
Alyssa almost stumbled backwards when the other trainer’s Gardevoir Teleported from her trainer’s side to stand before her own Gardevoir. Aurora’s eyes widened in surprise, along with her mouth in a silent ‘o’ shape before she flinched, an unseen Psychic attack being delivered by the Gardevoir seconds before it teleported away. Though her knees had bent, Aurora stood straighter, looking at the other Gardevoir with pain in her eyes.
She reluctantly let go of her trainers shoulders and let her hands fall loosely by her side. She floated forward calmly despite the raging battle. Pain remained glittering in her eyes, and her hypersensitivity to the emotions of her trainer were causing her heart to hurt. Aurora looked back at her trainer, who was watching the battles with distress, as well as almost trying to inch closer to the edge over which Flygon had fallen. Aurora blinked, the emotions her trainer was feeling welling up within her eyes, and streaming down her face in the form of the tears her trainer couldn’t cry as the girl shouted for her beloved Flygon once more.
She turned back to look at the enemy Gardevoir, the tears remaining on her face and flowing from her eyes despite the fact that Gardevoir was not as distressed as her trainer. ”Gar….Gardevoir…”
she said to the mirrored pokemon. Although her words were soft, her trainer would have understood if she were able to hear. Let us not fight...please...It is wrong to fight like this…[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Alyssa tried to pay attention to all three battles that were taking place at once. It was damn near impossible. She was constantly switching her gaze between her two pokemon, then to the cliff past where Flygon had fallen. Her worry was boiling in her stomach, and she felt her jaw trembling. She longed to yell out to her beloved Mystic pokemon, but she knew she would seem like more of a child than a Nox agent if she did. Then again…the way she treated her pokemon, she seemed like a young ten year old first starting their pokemon journey. At least, that’s what she had been told. She ran her hands in distress through her bangs. She didn’t want to fight, not like this. She only did as commanded.
If only there was gray area…
A sudden sight of a silver body tumbling towards the ground drew her attention to the battle between her Metagross and the Magneton. The electric type pokemon was buzzing with energy and power amping up for another attack. Judging by the looks of it, this was going to be its final attack. Alyssa looked worriedly to Cannon. His almost unchanging expression was displaying rarely seen tiredness reflected in his dark red gaze. He braced himself for the coming attack, and didn’t try to defend himself. Two uses of psychic were a strange effect on any pokemon that Alyssa had observed. In Cannon’s instance, whenever he used Psychic he entered a nearly trance-like state, and it always took a minute for him to come ‘back’ as it were.
Although he had already returned from the near trance, his weight – more than twice that of the Magneton’s easily slowed him down. Just as he turned to begin propelling himself out of the way with the use of his psionic waves, the Magneton flew at the Metagross and effectively latched onto his face, the magnets decorating the electric-type pokemon aiding it in this instance. An eruption of electricity danced from the sky, practically dropping both of the pokemon to the ground. In the instance of the Magneton, it did drop straight to the ground, fainted. However, Cannon managed to barely right himself. Alyssa could see the charred surface of his steel body as he hovered closer to her, dropping to the ground a few feet in front of her and pushing himself to stand on his clawed legs before crawling back to his trainer.
Metagross was a complex pokemon, and Alyssa felt she still didn’t fully understand him. He had originally been mistrustful, but now he never wanted to bend, or fall before her. As though it would signify weakness. The Iron Leg pokemon’s entire body trembled as he forced himself to stand. Alyssa could tell that he was close to fainting, and beginning to fade. She’d battled him earlier, too. She dropped to her knees and wrapped her arms across the front of Cannon’s face, hooking her fingers against the corners of the silver ‘X’ on his face in a loving hug.
”Cannon…” she said quietly, as the pokemon’s trembles became more obvious. ”Thank you for this….and I’m sorry…..I’m so sorry….”
A deep rumbling sound came from within the Metagross’s body, and he looked up at his trainer, the tiredness being fought back as he gazed at her. The blue legs began to sway and Alyssa quickly took out the Heavy Ball she’d used to capture him in and returned him, safe and sound, to the ‘home’ he stayed in whenever he wasn’t battling.
Alyssa could see her Gardevoir struggling internally on the battlefield. It hurt Alyssa to see the sensitive pokemon like this, but she just as much as her trainer was only following orders from above. She, too, wished for gray area. Alyssa looked around at the other Nox agents that she hardly considered her fellows with dismay. Why cant things be resolved peacefully?
A loud, ear-harming screech broke Alyssa thoughts, and she turned just in time to see a green flash fly outwards towards the sun, from below where she could see. The figured halted for a moment before charging back, full throttle. Despite the fact she had known it all along, her heart still leapt with relief at the sight of her pokemon.
”Flygon!”
However, something was different now. As much of a trickster that Flygon had been as a Trapinch and Vibrava, Alyssa knew he still had an overly-competitive side. It was dangerous, even. Although it wasn’t a berserker rage that Swampert often displayed, it was dangerous for any spectators and pokemon in the area because of the onslaught of techniques Flygon refused to let up on until it won the match or until it fainted. The normally green antenna protruding from Flygon’s head were glowing bright white, and as he opened his mouth, it registered to Alyssa what he was about to do.
A large beam of pure white light fired from his mouth, straight at the Altaria and behind it – the lighthouse. Flygon tore through the air, continuing to fire the beam. Alyssa had seen him do this only a few times before when he was maddened by a poorly-shaping fight. If the Solarbeam was avoided, took matters into his own hands – a chase until he caught up with the opponent and drove them into either a wall or the ground before finishing them with a close-range attack like Dragon Claw or Crunch.
The lighthouse…! Even if the Altaria was hit by the Solarbeam, the beam was still wide enough to damage the lighthouse as well. Flygon may unintentionally start it’s fall…I just hope we succeeded in getting the Ampharos out… she thought, pleading and almost praying that it was true.
Gardevoir, however, had an exchange that she was unable to hear with her sister pokemon. The Embrace pokemon floated back beside Alyssa and turned, closing her eyes. Alyssa felt an icy grip clutch her heart as she saw tears on the pokemon’s face. It hurt to do this. Alyssa knew it. She felt it too. She watched as her pokemon bent her green arms, leaving an open space just in front of the red horn on her chest.
An orange light began to form in the space there, and Alyssa swallowed. She remained absolutely still. The technique was only a matter of seconds away. Alyssa didnt know what had gone on between the two pokemon, but she had a feeling Aurora had to be ready for the other Gardevoir to attack. After everything seemed to fall silent on the battlefield, despite the fights raging, Aurora released the instructed Hyper Beam towards the base of the lighthouse.

Wally lost by default, having not responded within the 72 hour time limit for War-Battle threads.
Outcome: Alyssa came out victorious, having inflicted enough damage on Wally's pokemon to cause them to faint. The use of Solarbeam from Flygon, quickly followed by the ever-powerful Hyper Beam from Gardevoir to practically the same point on the lighthouse caused it severe architectural damage.
Instead of waiting to get through Lux's forces, Alyssa attacked the lighthouse directly with long-range attacks. Overkill perhaps?
