Ships, weaponry. The acrid smell of gun powder - and stale blood - never left Emil's nostrils. And it was sickening, yes, but Emil couldn't help but revel in the busy atmosphere, the bustling of soldiers proudly displaying their Nox armbands. Perhaps for others, it was a symbol of freedom. 'Freedom fighters'... An interesting concept. A struggle for liberty that may just be futile...
Swine. That's how Emil tended to describe the opposition. Their presence made daily life for him a struggle to keep his emotions under control. Being surrounded by Lux most of the time, hiding in their cities on their territory made his skin prickle.
That's most likely why Emil reveled in being away from Lux, and firmly in a Nox port. He was instructed to handle some minor armament of ships. Fine, lovely. At first, that mostly entailed paperwork, but with that out of the way, Emil found himself outside and among his subordinates. Comrades... and potential friends.
He had also heard that the Nox leader for Hoenn was in the area. Perhaps it had been just a rumour, something that the soldiers spread among themselves to give a small burst of morale, but nonetheless... Behind his cold demeanor, he was ultimately a young man caught in an unjust conflict, and he was damn curious. Alyssa, a petite young woman with shockingly pale hair, while not exactly an idol to Emil, was nonetheless someone he greatly admired.
Which is why even though he was no doubt focused on the ships and loading them correctly and safely, Emil couldn't stop his eyes from wandering the piers in search of the one and only Alyssa.

Alyssa sighed slightly as she stepped slowly through Slateport’s market square. The memories of the past couple of days were as strong as ever. They were perhaps the best memories she’d developed in the past year or so. The monumental battle that had taken place between herself and the Indigo Champion Lance was practically re-playing itself over and over in her mind, as though she were witnessing it for the first time as a bystander and not somebody who had actually fought. It prided her to say she had the privilage to battle the Dragon Master. That battle was amazing.. she thought, smiling some and turning to angle her beeline towards the shipyard and covered docking station
This is just about where I fished and first met King, isnt it? she asked herself, looking around at the Nox subordinates milling about. She’d been informed of a mission taken by a young man ranked higher than a Grunt to handle armament of ships. Until just earlier today she’d been in Unova, and upon actually bothering to check her messages that had accumulated over the weekend. The evening she’d spent with Lance had taken practically all of her attention, and pushed anything else away. Yesterday on the ship coming back to Hoenn had gone by quickly, and she’d gotten the first wink of sleep in about twenty hours.
I hope I see Lance again sometime soon... she thought, smiling a bit at the thought and simply nodding to the Grunts and Soldiers that had acknowledged her excitedly, suddenly thrilled and unnerved by the fact they were in her presence. She had attained recognition she dreamed of as a child recently, though not in the manner she’d visualized. In the past, she saw herself becoming famous by toppling Elite Four and Champions...but now she had become recognized as one of the most powerful trainers of Hoenn – maybe of Nox too – because of her position as the Region Leader.
Her cerulean eyes skirted the faces of people, looking for someone in particular. After checking into the Pokemon Center of Slateport and residing there for hours, a tired Wingull had arrived, carrying a letter to her to inform her of the mission currently taking place, as well as the young man in charge of it. Emil Milokaross... There had been a rough description of him, and now she was looking for him to pay a surprise checkup on how his ‘mission’ of sorts was going.
For now, though, she stopped simply to observe all that was happening. Things seemed to be moving smoothyl, and she only hoped that her appearance would not hinder that, but instead boost performance.

[atrb=width,100] | | [atrb=width,100][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] | [atrb=width,330][atrb=valign,top]Overall, Slateport City reminded Emil quite heavily of the shipyard and docks back home, in Castelia City. He had spent quite a lot of time there as a child. The crates there were full of various imported goods, and were usually unattended... A prime spot for stealing things to bring home or alternatively, sell out on the streets. That was where Emil had managed to... 'acquire' some of his more exotic Pokemon that weren't native to the Unova region. He liked to think that he hadn't stole them. Rather, he welcomed them into his party... And they didn't seem to mind all that much, anyway.
Emil has not immediately noticed Alyssa's arrival, in fact at that moment he was quite preoccupied with a heavy crate that had slipped from one of the loading cranes and looked as though it was about to fall into the crashing waves below. However, much to the relief of the surrounding workers, Emil's Gallade who had been standing by managed to catch the crate with green-tinted psychic wave before carefully replacing it on the ship's deck. While the potentially costly accident had been thankfully prevented, Emil was not impressed. This had been the fault of the men up on the ship, whose momentary lapse of attention nearly cost them what seemed to be a crate full of valuable weaponry. Emil would have rounded on them, threatened or cursed them, however they, and several of his comrades standing on the ground were all staring at something behind him. Irritated, Emil swung around, scowling. However, seconds later, all trace of emotion faded and was promptly replaced by his usual emotionless mask.
It felt as though all movement in the docks came to a capital standstill for several heartbeats, until Emil returned his attention to his subordinates. "Get back to work", he said, his voice clipped, professional. With a dismissive flick of his hand, Emil made it clear that he was not prepared for any compromise, even if Alyssa Akiyama was here. Especially if Alyssa Akiyama was here. It's not that Emil actually cared all that much of what other people thought of him, on the contrary, he really didn't. He just wanted to make his position clear - he was not going to go soft on anyone for whatever reason. The men reluctantly went back to their respective jobs, though Emil could still see them stealing glances at Alyssa. After several moments, Emil gave a nod and made his way towards the Nox leader in order to give his greetings.
He had met Alyssa only briefly in the past, but still. He assumed that he would have to report to her, that's why she was here, right?
"Alyssa, good day", Emil dipped his head in greeting and glanced back at the row of ships moored at the docks. "We are glad to see you back in Hoenn", he added with a small smile.

Alyssa crossed her arms and looked up. Unfortunately, her hopes that her appearance would improve performance and morale soon proved to be bleak, as there was suddenly potential accident that would cost Nox a fair bit that day in Slateport. A crate slipped from its ‘secure’ hold in the crane carrying it and nearly plummeted to the blue depths below. However, it was luckily saved by the fast actions of a Gallade standing on guard in case something like that happened (at least so it seemed). The crate was saved, and Alyssa couldn’t help but wonder what they would have lost had it been allowed to Plummet to the bottom of the ocean. Swampert would have been able to get that relatively easily, if it had... she thought, watching as the Grunts seemed to respond to realizing their lapse in attention.
”Get back to work.” the voice rang a quiet, quiet bell in her head, and the white-haired Leader of Hoenn stepped to the side slightly, searching for the owner of the voice. After rooting her eyes through the sea of heads she managed to locate him. He was only vaguely recognizable, seeing as the previous meeting between them had been brief as anything. His voice hadn’t registered to begin with, and his appearance even less so, despite the rough description in the letter delivered to her via Wingull. After the order was given out, the Grunts seemed to resign to their duties rather unhappily, every once and a while stealing glances at her. Just do your jobs... she thought, sighing slightly. My being here shouldn’t make any difference.
Although it always did, didn’t it?
Her eyes stayed trained on Emil as he made his way through the men under his command and towards her. He acknowledged her respectfully with a dip of his head before looking to the ships where his men were working. ”Alyssa, good day. We are glad to see you back in Hoenn.”
Smiling a little, she responded easily. ”Good day to you, too....it’s good to be back...” she said with a small sigh, the fast travel between regions taking its delayed toll on her. ”That was a near-miss...” she said, allowing herself to hold the smile through the serious note. ”...that Gallade is well-trained and has fine reflexes.”

Shooting a quick glance at the Pokemon, who had remained near the ship, Emil wondered if the he had heard Alyssa’s praise. Judging from the way the Pokemon suddenly perked up, he had. Emil could see the Gallade watching them out of the corner of his eye.
Suddenly, Emil felt a faint guilt. Perhaps he should be kinder to his Pokemon… Not that it really mattered to the Gallade. That Pokemon just happened to be one of Emil’s favourites, partially because he was hard-working and his skills were quite useful on and off that battlefield. Despite all of Nenavist’s wonderful qualities, Emil couldn’t help but feel a bit on edge around the Pokemon. He was a Psychic Pokemon, he could practically tune into his trainer’s thoughts. And then to add to that, the Ralts line was renowned for being able to sense and even manipulate emotions. That unsettled Emil. The thought of anyone – human or Pokemon – being able to see inside his mind was terrifying. There were… places there that he himself was scared of exploring, or even acknowledging. But nonetheless, Emil had taken a risk in keeping the Gallade, and although their relationship was an odd one for a Pokemon and trainer, Emil was ready to accept it as long as he was served well.
Objectively, Pokemon are there to serve their masters, right?
“The journey from region to region can be tiring…” Emil trailed off, and bit his lip. He himself had just recently returned from Sinnoh after failing to defend Eterna Forest from Lux. He had time to mull over the loss, even coming close to accepting it… But still he was bitter, appalled at the unexpected turn-around in the battle’s concluding stages. In all honestly, there was nothing that could be done. Lux sent reinforcements, they had more people than anyone could realistically handle. Teamwork, huh... “I’ll assume you heard about our loss in Sinnoh, then?” |
[/b] Emil gave the young woman a tight smile. “I would like to apologize. I was on the field, but there was little that I could do. Many of us didn’t want to retreat but we lacked a choice in the matter”. Emil sighed deeply. He was expecting to get a mouthful. Really, he would deserve it. Though now hidden and slowly healing, the handful of bruises and gashes that marked Emil’s body weren’t enough to redeem him. They should have won, and he was not going to forget this any time soon. Hoenn’s Leader couldn’t help but smile a bit when the Gallade seemed to hear her words. A small wave seemed to pass through the Blade Pokemon’s body as he was acknowledged. Pokemon never cease to amuse me with their reactions to acknowledgement... she thought, reflecting on all of the various reactions she’d seen throughout the years. Most respoded happily, pleased to have done something that their trainer viewed as an accomplishment or worthy of their praise. Not that it should be too hard to get in the first place... she mused silently. If pokemon didn’t respond well to praise – there was always one with every trainer – it would become fired up and eager to prove more of itself. Possibly to feel like it had done something more worthy of the praise it had received?
Alyssa shook her head slightly, glancing back at Emil as the young man began speaking. The journey between regions was indeed tiring, and generally took a couple of days on a ship open to the public. On a private boat, though, transportation could be made quicker. The only problem was having the connections to such a boat...and nowadays with the war, someone you knew you could trust to ferry you from region to region if they had both the time and the money in a time like this. Luckily, she still had connections from when she was younger and ventured between regions. Although she had taken public ships more than once, especially for the first ventures to and from, she preferred the more private feeling relying on a friend that didn’t mind a high-speed journey.
”I’ll assume you heard about our loss in Sinnoh, then?”
Alyssa’s gaze softened slightly as she looked back at Emil, seeing as her gaze had drifted away as well as her thoughts...a definite contrast to what one may have expected from a leader regarding a loss. ”I would like to apologize. I was on the field, but there was little that I could do. Many of us didn’t want to retreat but we lacked a choice in the matter.” She allowed her expression to darken slightly, a frown pulling at the corners of her lips. He was probably expecting to be chewed out or something along those lines. Instead, she sighed audibly, thinking of how to phrase her thoughts.
”I have heard about Nox’s loss in Sinnoh...” she said quietly, looking up at the sky. ”As much as losing to Lux disagrees with my wills, I’ve been keeping one thing in mind...something that I think you would benefit from as well.” Pausing before continuing, she waited for a moment. ”Though we have lost Eterna Forest, there are better territories to be won...more useful as well. The forest may be a serene place that has some natural resources, there are stronger forts we can take or defend...somewhere more worth our effort.”
She trailed off for a moment, clenching her fist against her side. ”Such as Sootopolis.” that loss still burned like an angry hellfire within her, despite the fact time had passed since the loss, and the raw feeling was healing. ”If only I had been there, we would not have lost that valuable place, alongside the sacred Cave of Origin. However, I was...unable to at the time due to certain circumstances.”
She lightened up a little, realizing that she threatened to consume the young man’s attention with her own bitter disappointment in Hoenn’s Nox troops for that loss.
”But...just think of what can be gained, and not what has been lost, because we can only wait in the shadows for the chance to strike and gain back what is ours.”

Of course any loss in Hoenn – especially a location as significant as Sootopolis – would be difficult to come to terms with. From what he remembered, this was ultimately the young woman’s home region, any land lost here would be considered more sacred than elsewhere. Even though he hated to admit it, Emil felt much the same way about Unova. In fact, that’s where he was when the battle of Sootopolis had begun, which is why he himself had been unable to actively participate. A shame, really. Sootopolis had been revered as a beautiful and picturesque city once upon a time…
When he was growing up, Emil had dreamt of travelling. He would pass Castelia City’s Gym eyeing all the trainers who left the building – some clutching onto the fainted bodies of their precious Pokemon, others leaping up and down with joy – with a cold envy. The war had realized Emil’s dream of travelling, though it was a far cry from everything that he had hoped for. Be careful for what you wish for indeed.
Emil remained silent for several seconds, focusing his eyes on a point somewhere on the horizon where the sky met the sea. His thoughts were all jumbled and he struggled to find a way to reply. Emil thought of those that he had killed, of those that had been killed, of bodies that will never be identified or maybe never even found. But the forest still stood, the trees still reached their branches into the sky and life didn’t stop. Despite everything all these thoughts, Emil could only shrug in response.
“You’re right" |
[/b], he said finally. And she was, to an extent. As far as Emil knew, Eterna Forest was hardly used even by Nox operatives. This was essentially a fight of pride and for territory, just an excuse for Lux to boast their power and write propaganda in magazines and newspapers designed to stroke their own ego. That’s practically all that they were good at, anyway. "Still, we can't let ourselves relax. You know what Lux is like. They win one battle and then they immediately think they have the world at their fingertips". Emil looked as though he was going to say more, but thankfully he managed to keep himself in check. As soon as conversations like this regarding Lux and the war start, Emil had a bad habit of getting a bit... impassioned. That wouldn't very professional at all. No, perhaps telling Alyssa Akiyama that he wished he could openly lynch Lux soldiers in the streets would not be very wise. Apparently she wasn't a huge fan of violence. "Also, I've been asked to inform you of a possible intruder in the region. I believe his actions have been tracked and based on what I last heard, he was in Lilycove City. A member of Lux, not overly involved in the war or really all that important from what I understand". Emil's eyes suddenly hardened. "Nonetheless, I will be glad to remove him for you, if you like..." Emil left his words hanging in the air, feeling no need to elaborate on what exactly he had in mind. Alyssa waited in silence while he took his time to answer. Perhaps he was one of those people that would think carefully before answering, as not to risk offending whomever they were having a conversation with at the time? That was a useful trait to have, Alyssa was confident in that much. Although, somebody would be hard-pressed to say one of the few things that ignited her temper automatically, so it was an unneded trait around her. He seems like a nice enough young man. I’m still not familiar enough with him to develop a solid opinion, though... she thought, glancing back from his Gallade at him, her cerulean eyes wataching him carefully to try to detect any movement that would be a tell-tale sign in a change of thought pace.
Stop analyzing him... Alyssa told herself, annoyed that her lack of sleep was showing up in the form of trying to get as much information from somebody as she non-verbally could. She looked at the water when he spoke again, watching the small waves in the water splash against the sides of the wooden planks that helped support some of the extentions of the dock out into the water. She remembered standing here years ago, and it seemed like an entirely different place now. There had been Wingull and Pelipper lining the docks, ocasionally a Taillow with them as well. Now, however, you were lucky to see a single Wigull. The ships coming in and out because of the war had proved to be too much of a disturbance to the bird pokemon, so they’d sought refuge on some of Hoenn’s less-visited seasides and desolate islands.
She nodded slightly when he mentioned Lux, power-hungry and ready to strike again to try and claim as much territory as they could. It was true. They’d wasted no time snatching up the Kanto and Johto regions. However, it made sense that those would be taken easily, seeing as they shared the ‘honor’ of housing the Indigo League. Nox will have Hoenn, though... she vowed. I will make sure of that, if it’s the last thing I do. Although she didn’t acknowledge them with more than a bit of a nod, she understood what he meant.
A loyal Nox member through and through...it’s good to meet one when you get the chance.
She looked up into his eyes when he continued speaking, about a possible Lux intruder in Hoenn. She was curious, before she realized she knew exactly who he was talking about. She’d received word via cell phone about him, and her spies had done a good job of tracking his movements from Lilycove all the way to Slateport, where he was now. Apparently Emil hadn’t gotten the latest update, but it would be beneficial to him if she informed him of the latest whereabouts.
”Yes, I received word of him.” she paused for a moment, giving him a small smile, in case he felt as though his words had been in vain. ”However, you may be interested to know his movements have been tracked all the way to Slateport. He’s been moving relatively fast, but he seems to have stopped here for reasons unknown. You won’t have to look too far, it seems.” she said easily, smoothly giving him the order he seemed to have wanted. She glanced to the left before the right and back at Emil. She’d had the faint feeling for a while now that she was being watched, but that was becoming a more common occurance than ever before. As such, she placed it on the back burner of importance in her mind.
If her lax attitude towards the feeling – which could very well be her imagination given lack of sleep – resulted in a negative outcome, she had a feeling she and Emil would be able to handle themselves.

Marcus was no stranger to stealth or reconnaissance missions. He found them rather tedious though, being forced to take due notice of his surroundings 24/7. Lyre was blasé as usual, padding through the city at her trainer's heels. This was almost like Olivine City, which gave Marcus a slightly better sense of belonging. Wasn't as nearly as good as Johto, but the blond was probably biased. "Well Lyre, figures we should stop by here for a break before moving onto the northern route,"
[/color] he said as he took a seat on one of the many benches scattered throughout the city. The Delcatty merely shrugged, yawned, and then leaped onto the bench to sit at her trainer's side. The floor was no good for her. No, she thought herself as too good for the floor. It was not worthy of her resting upon it. The wooden bench was pretty rickety as well and in need of another coat of paint, but it would have to do for now. Well, beggars can't be choosers. They were the strangers in Slateport City anyways. "We should keep on moving, shouldn't we?"[/color] he mused as he pulled a small, rectangular box out of the breast pocket of his vest. The Delcatty at his side glanced at her trainer, wrinkling her nose at him. What had he said? She'd been too preoccupied by being disapproving of Marcus' smoking habit. He'd tried to quit twice already, Dante saying it wasn't good as one of Alphonse's role models, but he'd failed each time. Out of the corner of his eye and under his shades, Marcus noted the Delcatty's hostile expression. "I know, I know, it smells bad for you,"[/color] he muttered. "Sorry girl, it's what I do. Need to be level-headed for this anyways."[/color] And with that, he produced his blue lighter and set the cigarette butt aflame. Now he was ready. They'd continue forward towards Cycling Path. It was the undergrowth that they were supposed to explore anyways, find any Nox hideouts, et cetera, et cetera. Shouldn't be too difficult of a mission anyways. It almost... seemed too easy. However, this was just a fleeting thought in the back of Marcus' mind. There was no other way to move than to go forward. He took the cigarette between his right index and forefinger before standing once again. "Let's keep going, Lyre,"[/color] he said, heading back north to the top of the city. If he could slip out unnoticed, all was well. It wasn't like Nox would jump him in pure daylight. Then again, he'd also heard that Nox concentrations within Slateport City were high. Goddam city,[/color] he said to himself.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/quote]

He should really check his facts next time before droning on about a matter that he wasn't one hundred percent informed about. And clearly if Alyssa had more up to date information regarding the man, someone must have forgotten to tell him about the intruder’s most recent movements. More importantly, him not knowing where the man was could be dangerous. The whole situation made Emil feel vaguely vulnerable, and he did not like that. And neither did he like the fact that it seemed like he was the last person to find out about all of this.
Without warning, a young man unceremoniously loped up alongside the pair. Breathing heavily, he bent over, hands on his knees, struggling to gain his breath before speaking. In the process the poor man earned a very critical glare from Emil. He never liked having his time wasted, especially not when it seemed like they were about to receive some urgent information, at least that's what it seemed like, judging from the young man's wide eyes and even scared facial expression. Emil's impatience with the man was not helped by his Gallade's reaction to the newcomer. Glancing over at the Psychic type, the Pokemon had turned all his attention to the panting man, his usual expressionless face tinged with something bordering on emotion. If the Pokemon has seemed positively bored for the past couple of hours, in contrast he now looked oddly alert, his head cocked to the side as he watched the trio.
"Alyssa Akiyama, good afternoon", the man said finally straightening and giving the young woman a borderline shy smile, looking positively awestruck. It was at times like these that Emil was reminded that Alyssa was more than just a Nox leader. While he himself never cared for such frivolities and even tended to regard Pokemon trainers with some contempt, others rarely shared his opinions. Alyssa had battled gyms all over the world, emerging victorious every time. She was Hoenn’s pride and joy, so of course some locals would be star-struck. While Emil understood all this in theory, the man’s conduct overall left him thoroughly unimpressed. Perhaps if he had been standing with anyone other than a region leader, he would have snapped at the man to straighten up and show some etiquette. However, something told him that Alyssa wouldn't approve of such behaviour on his behalf so instead he silently crossed his arms and glared.
Seeing Emil's blatant impatience, the poor man swallowed and began to speak rather hurriedly, his eyes darting from Alyssa to Emil. "I've been told to come and tell you that the intruder that we had been tracking? He's nearby, just outside the city’s northern exit". Staring at the man in silence for several seconds, Emil pursed his lips and continued to glare as though it was the man's fault that the intruder had appeared in the city at such an inconvenient time. Not only was he a threat because no one from Lux should be able to get this close to their region leader, but also the cargo being loaded onto the ships as they spoke was incredibly valuable. The exact contents? Well, Emil wasn’t really sure. But he had been instructed to do something – overlook the loading and make sure the crates make it onto the ships safely – and he was used to carrying out orders perfectly.
"Close off the northern exit, please", Emil said slowly, shooting a quick glance at Alyssa. "I’ll be heading over there immediately". Nodding, the man rushed off once more. It wouldn’t take long for the exit to the old Cycling Road be sealed – for now, a pair of trainers, each with either an Onix or Steelix, would bar the intruder’s escape. In cases like this, they would sometimes release a squad of soldiers atop winged Pokemon into the sky in order to prevent anyone leaving by flying. Hopefully it wouldn’t come to that here. The docks weren’t particularly far away from Slateport’s northern outskirts, perhaps fifteen minute walk down a terrace. Getting there in time shouldn’t be a problem – surely the two soldiers blocking the exit should be able to hold up the one man.
"Stay here and protect the cargo", Emil said, addressing his Gallade. The Pokemon replied by dipping his head in acknowledgement and turning his attention to the ships and crates wants more. Emil thought he might have seen a flicker of disappointment cross the Pokemon’s face though it might have been his imagination. Forcing himself to smile, a relatively convincing attempt, Emil faced Alyssa.
"I would prefer for you to stay away from there…" Emil said slowly, his words trailing away. Maybe he was wrong, but something told Emil that the young woman wouldn’t be content with being left behind.

Alyssa took Emil’s silence as an opportunity to look back at the people and pokemon working to load the cargo into the ships. They were almost done and the Veteran Trainer smiled a bit, this was a nice accent to her plans for the day. She got to observe how some of Hoenn’s Nox troops worked. She had assumed they worked well enough on their own and, given what she’d seen before her presence was noted, she was correct. The sense of being watched was answered quickly, too, when a young soldier ran up rather ungracefully to herself and Emil, panting for breath as though he’d just darted towards them. A flash of the familiar feeling raced through her when he spoke her name, straightening and smiling, before it vanished. Had he been staring at her while he ran as though she would give him more determination to do so?
The white-haired leader shrugged slightly to herself and acknowledged the man’s apparent admiration with a small nod of her head before crossing her arms, quietly waiting for him to get on with delivering his message. She doubted he would be so out of breath if he had nothing important to say and was just taking her time and Emils. Could it be the person of interest that she and the young man beside her had only just been discussing? Arceus; that’s some sort of luck if he is. She thought with a small smile, curling her hand into a fist.
Since the war had started, she’d been relatively quiet in her actions until Olivine when she decided to announce her loyalties for all to see. She’d never before chased Lux from one territory or another, be it fully Nox-controlled or only disputed. However...Lux in Hoenn? That was something entirely different. Something that made her blood boil behind her calm mask of an expression. She would see to it that all Lux be driven from Hoenn at any cost, to make Hoenn a Nox stronghold.Clenching a fist, she watched Emil as he spoke.
He devised a plan of action quickly and set it into action with swift orders to the man, who rushed off to carry it out. Alyssa saw him raise a hand from his belt to his ear with a radio. Good. That would minimize the amount of time it took for exits to be blocked off. She wasn’t about to let slip anything else, though, and minimize the risk of a Lux escaping when he was practically dancing within Slateport’s grasp.
Before she moved, Emil spoke to his Gallade, then to her. He seemed to loose the energy behind his words somewhat quickly, and he watched her carefully. Her cerulean gaze locked onto the young mans, she kept a relatively flat expression for a moment, letting the discomfort in the air build between them before she smiled, evaporating it immediately. With a quiet chuckle, she answered his statement.
”As kind as your preference is, I’m afraid I wouldn’t stand for it in this instance. I have something else in mind.” She pulled a gray Heavy Ball off of her belt and expended it in her palm before gesturing to some of the cargo-loaders that had been listening in on their conversation. ”You all. I’m assuming you’ve been informed of our target’s description, correct? Spare what hands you can to assure that nobody matching his description passes the market square. If you see someone in the skies, those of you that have a bird pokemon investigate. If it’s him, ground him, but do not attack to kill. Understood?” they nodded. ”Pass that on.”
They ran off, and she tossed the pokeball into the air before swinging her backpack from her pack, placing it on the ground as she reached into it. Beside herself and Emil appeared her Metagross, its large red eyes staring at the trainers unblinkingly. From her backpack, she pulled out her trusty Acro Bike. She’d had it for almost sixteen years, and still Rydel’s ingenius design to make it collapsable and fittable into something like a backpack never ceased to amaze her. Within a few minutes it was fully assembled and she swung her bag back over her shoulders.
Throwing her leg over the bike, she looked to Emil. ”Emil, it would take us a while just to walk there. More time than I would like. Ride on Cannon –“ the Metagross crouched low to allow the young man to step upon its head so it could levitate after its trainer. ” – and I’ll bike. It’s much faster than walking.” She glanced between the young man and her pokemon. ”Alright. Let’s go.”
Without waiting, she took off at a decent rate. Cannon would catch up soon enough.
The orders carried out from above had been effective immediately, and the Nox soldiers stationed in the South entrance to Cycling Road had jumped at the opportunity to prove themselves. Over the radio, their comrade had said that Alyssa Akiyama was even there. This was a chance to be noticed by somebody higher-up! It was time to prove themselves!
They knew that a person of interest had been spotted, but they’d been unaware of just how far north he’d been. Now they knew. Three exited the small house separating Cycling Road from the footpath, and they were prepared for him. A blockade was easy enough to set up. They’d be able to hold back until Emil and possibly their Leader showed up as well. One released a Steelix, another released an Onix, and the last a Gyarados. They spanned the area in front of the Cycling Path as a relatively loose blockade. They all had long pokemon – a reason they’d been stationed there. If needed, they would release more to help fight this Lux member back. Until then, they’d remain ready until he showed his ugly Lux face in their midst.
