The vast trees breathed in a new scent that they had not smelled before, yet it was familiar. The green-haired trainer stepped into the opening; the forest had sensed his non-harmful properties and allowed him into the clearing, one of the only places in the world that was excluded from the war erupting outside of the grasslands that surrounded it. It was the only place that didn’t seem to be tainted with that essence of decay and rusted bullets that lay underneath the soil on the path towards the White Forest.
N loved the location of White forest, the fact that it was full of Pokémon that were untouched and the citizens were so civilized and oblivious to everything going on outside of their world, their own little world. He could hear them, the Pokémon that shrouded themselves intelligently within the bushes that surrounded him, waiting for N to say something, to do something. No one dared to disturb the peace that was held in the White Forest, but the forest itself, the trees, the soil, the roots, they all tested anyone who wanted to enter their territory, disposing of anyone who had malignant purposes.
However, all was not well within the forest, for it knew that there was something going on the outside, it knew that it’s fellow forestry was being torn down, burned down by the humans that had inhabited it’s surrounding lands centuries after the trees had arrived. Nobody knew but N, he could feel the trees’ presence, centuries of history all packed into one area, embodied with a magical shroud hiding it from anyone that could harm its inhabitants or even the trees that stood triumphantly inside its borders.
An Elekid ran through the clearing, possibly to tell its neighbours that a human had found their way into its home, something that was supposed to keep out outsiders, or was it? N was allowed in, so why wouldn’t someone else? Why was it that Nox and Lux had been finding it extremely difficult to find the place, forget actually entering the borders of the enchanted forestry? It swarmed with Pokémon of all different types, with a small village only a mile backwards through the make-shift path that N had walked upon.
The rustling echoed through the clearing.
N turned his head towards the direction, his eyes weary of whoever else was in this direction, his hand reaching for the Pokéball that was so close to his grasp. Whether it was an overprotective Pokémon or a Lux member that had somehow gotten through the forest’s boundaries with their mask of innocence, was negligible, it was entering the clearing and N, former King of Team Plasma, former King of Unova, had to be ready.[/style] |

Alyssa made her way quietly through the serene forest. War had raged around this forest, yet it seemed as though it brimmed with health. It’s almost as if it’s alive... Alyssa realized silently, looking around at the various trees, bushes, and pokemon that seemed to be shyly watching her from their small groups scattered here and there throughout the peaceful woodland. It’s so calm and quiet... she thought, stopping in her tracks and placing a hand lightly upon a tree, her light blue eyes looking at the whole structure. It wasn’t just a plant in her eyes. She knew it was a living being. Although it may not have a face or heart, Alyssa felt as though it still had something. The same went for the other plants surrounding her.
At her feet, Daybreak had stopped walking and sat down, sensing her trainer’s mind wandering elsewhere with her Psychic power. Looking up at her trainer with deep, violet eyes, the Espeon’s large ears flicked slightly with the other sounds of the forest. ”It’s as though the tree has a mind of it’s own...” Alyssa murmured, closing her eyes for a moment. The white-haired trainer felt her beloved pokemon’s consciousness brush against hers. Although Daybreak’s voice was not echoed within her mind telepathically as usual, Alyssa could sense what her pokemon was considering communicating. ”There’s more to this forest, Daybreak, than meets the eye...” she told the Sun Pokemon, opening her cerulean gaze to meet the knowing violet one of the small creature by her feet.
Nodding slightly, Alyssa stepped forward, continuing in a straight line through her own makeshift path that truly resembled trailblazing more than anything. ”This war has changed people, Daybreak...” she told the pokemon trotting by her heels, listening intently to her trainer, and understanding her words. ”...this war has changed me. Before it I thought I would never grow out of my teenage mindset. I was fine with that...but now it’s different. It’s like I’ve developed a second personality.”
Alyssa wasn’t exactly one to talk about something like this too often, and it was only ever Daybreak that had the ears to lend for it. ”The naïve, light-hearted and shy-ish person I was still exists, but the war and responsibilities that have come from being one of Nox’s five Leaders have pushed it to the sidelines. Now, I feel stronger, more confident and analytic, and the shyness I hoped would vanish has. I still have my goals, but...I’m fighting more for this war to end than I thought I would ever wind up doing.”
Light filtering through the trees suggested they were drawing close to a clearing of sorts, though Alyssa couldn’t tell for sure because she was watching the ground move. ”I still hold onto my dreams though...” she said quietly, her Espeon’s quiet cry spurring her to continue as they approached the clearing, bushes rustling as she moved. ”...I will defeat all Elite Four and Champions. But I need you, Daybreak...” she stepped into the clearing. ”...I need everybody else too. You are my friends...my companions...I – “
She cut off when she realized Daybreak had stopped, and the Veteran Trainer stopped as well, looking at her pokemon questioningly. The Espeon’s violet eyes were glued to something in front of Alyssa. Looking up, Alyssa blinked in surprise when she saw that she was not alone, and another person was there as well. ...his face is familiar... she thought silently, immediately trying to remember where she’d seen is face, and if there was a name to go with it.
”Oh...” she glanced at his hand, noticing that it was near his belt. ...I don’t wish to bring fighting here. she complained silently, hoping that he did not percieve her as a threat. ”H-hello..”
It was better than nothing, right?

It was a surprise, both to the Pokémon and the green-haired trainer that sat in the middle of the forest clearing. Why, why did it allow another to marvel at the magic, why did it allow someone to come in when it knew N’s intentions were to be on his own? The forest had allowed someone else to bath in all of its glory, forgetting that N was there specifically to spend time on his own – who could love the forest more than N and the citizens that live there. Who could have innocent intentions in the current state of this war, no one; which is why N had to send this person back through the way they had come. The forest must have made a mistake, judging so many people every day... it must have worn it out, yes! That was the answer; it was just an incorrect judgment, nothing more, nothing less. N was the only one who deserved to be accepted into the White Forest, no one else, and if the forest didn’t know that, than who did? It had let another corruptive soul into its grounds, obviously misunderstanding that everyone was a danger, especially during the war.
His fingertips gently stroked the solid red coloured material at the top of the Pokéball at his waist, noticing the violet eyes glowing within the shadow of the nearby tree. He narrowed his eyes, suspicious with the intent on whom or whatever this thing was. The sun rose out from the cloud, revealing to N who was indeed allowed security in the confinements of the enchanted woodland around them. The woman, who N had seen at various Nox bases – sitting inside a portrait labelled as the Head of Hoenn. What was she doing here, this was a place of piece not somewhere to put up another of those Nox bases, slowly plaguing the environment that surrounded it. He pulled his hand back to its original position, staring over towards the woman’s directions, his cap’s beak breaking any eye contact that they may have had before.
You shall not pass, stranger.
The woman barely muttered a greeting to the former King of Unova. N wasn’t going to be indirect, he wanted to direct his opinion as soon as possible, and replied swiftly. “Go back to where you came from, you do not belong here. The forest must have made a mistake in letting you in. Nox leader; you have no place here.” The last sentence was just to let her know that he knew exactly who she was – well, not exactly – he didn’t know her name after all. N waited for her response, occasionally letting his eyes drop down to the now revealed Espeon before bouncing them straight back up to the woman. Scratching the back of his neck, his voice strayed from the conversation, leaving echoes of silence floating around the clearing, at least until the woman spoke anyway.[/style] |

The voice came from a bush in the middle of the distance spanning between the green-haired fellow and the white-haired girl, awkwardly breaking the silence that the forest had held for so long. Being able to turn invisible was only one of the few abilities that Leo held and Theodore had come to believe that, given recent events, he had been overusing it a bit too much. Not that it was really a bad thing but Leo didn't seem to mind so he supposed it was okay. Things had started somewhat normally; the forest was normally one of his favorite places to visit and the best part about Fushia was that she could float where she pleased when she daydreamed; the perfect way to travel between the regions with that little hint of mystery that came with not knowing where they would end up next. The last time he had traveled it had been to Hoenn; this time, it was Unova and the famed 'White Forest' that was the sort of 'sanctuary' for pokemon, so he had heard, that had caught his interest and they had just arrived for mere moments before the sounds of voices had caught his intentions. Him, being the strange, paranoid person that he was it was always custom for Leo to make them both invisible so that Theodore could observe the person for awhile to see if they were an enemy or not. Of course he recognized her right away; the leader of hoenn had made quite a name for herself over the past few months but he had yet to know if she was an actual 'lady' or not. The war had really changed the young ladies he had met for the worst and while he understood some of it, part of him still scorned them for this fact. And now he had his answer. From her greeting he perceived her to be the shy type; the fact that she hadn't introduced herself meant that she was confident that the green-haired man already knew her name. A leader and at the same time a proper lady, and as such, he couldn't stand to see her spoken to in that manner by a man. Even though his words were not crass his intentions were clearly to drive her out of the forest when it was open to all people, Lux and Nox alike. So he had decided to act. In an instant the camouflage was dropped and he strolled out between the two, narrowing his eyes at the man standing some distance away. The rustle of the bushes hadn't been her. It had been him. " Is that any way to talk to a lady?" He questioned, step jittery and nervous as his finger fumbled around in the pouch clipped to his side. It wasn't often that you got to meet a Nox leader, after all, and judging by the way the green-haired fellow was speaking he was someone of higher authority as well. Not that theodore had ever heard of him, anyways, being isolated in sinnoh and all.[/style] [STYLE=color: #6f6363; border-left: 5px solid #cecaca; width: 380px; text-align: justify; padding-left: 5px; font-size: 11px; margin-top: 0px; font-family: arial; line-height: 1]WORDS: 538 TAGS: n/alyssa ! Alyssa remained silent as the man before her did, but not out of fear or being unsure of what to say. She had just spoken, had she not? No, now her silence was dedicated to her thoughts, trying to think of who this man was. The main thing she paid attention to was the color and length of his hair. She had come across few people with green hair in her time...so few that she could count however many on one hand. However, she had never physically encountered this man before; she had only seen a picture or two of him. Once in the hands of a trainer she’d taken to talking with when resting at a Pokemon Center in Mistralton City before challenging the Gym there, the other she couldn’t lay her finger on it. It had been a poor photograph as well, and Alyssa still half-believed that it was a hand-drawn sketch due to the way the colors mixed, among other things.
But what had she said his name was...
That was something that was bothering her above all else. The white-haired Leader of Hoenn had an unfortunate habit of forgetting names of people she’d only heard mention of or met briefly in the past. It was only if they were iconic figures (like Champions), or after she spent more than a short amount of time with them that she remembered their name. But after that encounter, she would always remember. Looking down at Daybreak, she studied the Espeon. Her companion seemed interested in the man sitting in the clearing. Her fluffy whiskers twitched twice before she moved her forked tail, the sensitive tips of it rising off the ground before lightly falling back to the earth. She was studying him with an interest that Alyssa hadn’t seen her take in many people in the past.
What is it about him that interests you, Daybreak? she silently asked, casting her thoughts to the Psychic pokemon who, much to her trainer’s surprise, did not respond. That was unusual.
”Go back to where you came from, you do not belong here. The forest must have made a mistake in letting you in. Nox leader; you have no place here.”
The forest...letting me in? She blinked in surprise, the expression obvious in her clear blue gaze. If anything, his words hinted towards what she had sensed earlier. The sense that the forest was actually alive, not in the sense that any other plant was. As though it in itself was an entity.
....N...
Though she had never heard him before, his voice reminded her of his name. According to the trainer she’d met years ago, he called himself King. The arrival of a new young man signified another presence in the forest, the serenity of the forest accomodating the three of them. He spoke in her defense, and Alyssa cast him a small nod, but did not respond to him. She would, though, respond to the man she felt sure was N. However, Alyssa wouldn’t mention his name now. Instead, she responded evenly, and above all, honestly. If she wasn’t the honest sort of person already, there was something strange about the forest that compelled her to speak truthfully.
”I don’t mean to stir up any sort of trouble...” she told him quietly, crouching slowly next to Daybreak and laying a hand gently on the velvet-soft fur of her companion, whose ears flicked at the sound of her trainer’s voice, though her eyes never left the mysterious man before her. ”I came here because of what I was told years ago...that this was a tranquil place.” she waited for a moment before continuing. ”I came here to relieve my mind...but above all the mind of my pokemon...even temporarily from the war. I have noticed the toll it’s taking on them, and not just physically...they need a small break as well, and this is the first place I thought of...”
She gently stroked Daybreak before the Espeon got up and cautiously padded forward, hesitantly approaching him, stopping a few feet away and sniffing at him, her large ears twitching to betray her curiosity.
Daybreak’s just full of surprises today... Alyssa couldn’t help but wonder if the forest was driving her pokemon’s strange actions and behavior.
”And, truthfully, I’m not sure if I’d be able to find my direct way back. I...more or less made my own way, since I saw no set path where I entered...I’d probably get lost.”
