Alyssa pedaled her bike quickly as she made her way through the winding trails that took her Northward towards Fortree. It had been a while since she last visited this place, but now she was here for a mission. It was a fairly straightforward mission that held minimal danger in store for both herself and the person she was going to be working with. From the contact she’d managed to establish with him, she’d learned that his name was Lune. That was easy enough to remember. As Alyssa made her way from grass onto a bit of a rocky plateau, rain began to fall from the sky. Typical of Hoenn. Count on the tropical region to rain at perhaps the most random times in an equally random location.
She shook her head as water began to plaster her bangs to her skin. Although she was still wearing her red beanie, her hair wasn’t trapped beneath it as it typically was. Instead, it was parted down the middle, and split into two ponytails at the base of her skull on each side of her head. She hadn’t put her hair in ponytails like that for a long while. It almost reminded her of when she was younger, to be truthful. Same with riding her bike. She hadn’t used it in ages.
At long last she made it to the city in the trees. Looking up, she parked her bike next to the grounded pokemon center, chaining it to the gutter of the building. She didn’t expect anyone to take it, and it was easy for her to access if Lux members were stupid enough to show up in Nox territory. Although she would be able to flatten them easily – probably – she would help Lune defeat them before fleeing to get out of sight as soon as possible. She wanted to avoid trouble, and that would be easiest if she avoided being seen by Lux members, particularly in Hoenn.
Entering the Pokemon Center, she came out quickly, having switched a few pokemon around in her party and PC. Hopping on her bike again she rode back down Route 119, to the designated spot they decided upon. He was there this time. Smiling slightly before letting the expression vanish, she pedaled more slowly over to him before coming up beside him, having hopped off her bike a few feet away.
”…hey, Lune?”

Lune turned as soon as she spoke, giving her his full attention. Alyssa had to admit that he seemed a bit tired. Admittedly she couldn’t blame him. The rain always had a habit of making her a bit drowsy, for whatever reason. She had a feeling that the calming sound of the water falling from the sky, and bouncing off whatever it hit was to blame for the soothing sensation that she felt whenever the sky opened up. Today, she wished she could enjoy it, but she was unable to because of the mission. However, it would be easy enough, right? All she would have to do is defeat the Kecleon after she startled them. Maybe I should catch one… she thought. Nodding, she decided she would catch one that put up a good fight.
The white-haired trainer was caught a bit off-guard by the sudden, small bow of the obviously younger trainer before her. He tucked his arm against his abdomen and made a polite, not over-exaggerated bow to her. ”It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” He seemed to have an esteemed air about him as well, only adding effect to the bow he had just given her. She gave him a bit of a nod back, forcing away her slight surprise and acknowledging his actions. ”Pleased to meet you as well…” she told him quietly. She watched his eyes look past her, and to the trees that surrounded her.
”As pleasant as this was, I believe we should make for Fortree City, yes?”
Hoenn’s Leader nodded in agreement. The sooner she got the mission over and done with, the sooner she would be able to return to her plans for Hoenn in the future. She had to admit that she still had a lot of smoothing kinks out to do, but, the end result was something that Nox could be proud of. Also, if the plans were put into action, it would give Nox a huge leg-up in a situation as far as war went. Focus on the task at hand, Alyssa… she reminded herself, giving her head a small shake.
She observed the younger trainer’s expression and gave a small smile. Clearly he didn’t like rain. ”Indeed. We best get going, too, before the sky decides to pick up the rain again.” She pulled her bike to the side, so it stood between them. Nodding to two steel prongs sticking out from the middle of the wheels, she told him, ”Hop on and don’t fall off. I’ll bike us there, then we can get on with the mission.”
Throwing a leg over her bike, she waited for him.

Alyssa moved her body slightly to counter-balance the weight of Lune shifting into position on her bike so that he didn’t accidentally send the two of them toppling over to one side. She blinked with slight surprise when she felt his hands on her shoulders, quickly followed by his voice, a bit restrained as though he were embarrassed or a bit flustered…or something of that nature. Alyssa couldn’t help but smile a bit at his apology. She shook her head to answer his question and remained still, half-standing, half-seated on the seat of her bike. She felt his body shift slightly behind her, and she glanced back to see what he was doing.
He appeared to be adjusting his clothing. Glancing down to where he was reaching for, Alyssa smiled a bit, silently thanking him for noticing that. It would have been a pain for both of them if his pantleg had wound up getting snagged in her wheel or bike chain. It would be some minor damage to her bike as well as an annoying to try to fetch from what it got caught on. Also, what would be a bigger problem for her young partner would be his clothes potentially being damaged.
After he had taken care of his stray jean cuff, he glanced up at her, having gripped her shoulder a bit tighter to maintain his balance. ”I apologize.” She shook her head a bit, giving him a small smile before turning back to look at the Route in front of them. ”Shall we?” The white-haired young woman nodded. ”Just hold on and don’t fall. I can’t imagine you’d appreciate that very much, eh?” she asked with a smile. Without really waiting for an answer, she kicked off of the ground and began pedaling. The uphill parts weren’t all that much difficult than they would have been if it was just her, and they made it to the city in the trees fairly quickly. Pulling up beside the Pokemon Center once again, Alyssa’s bike skidded to a stop, almost in what one would consider a ‘reckless’ manner thanks to the wet ground beneath the tires.
She pulled up next to the building and leaned against it with her arm, keeping her bike upright for him to dismount. ”We should get to work soon enough.” she said. ”I doubt we’ll need the residents to tell us where the barriers are within and around their city, we should find them easily enough.” she paused, smirking a bit before adding. ”Just…don’t go running off anywhere because it would probably be an unpleasant experience to smack into one, eh?”

Alyssa got off her bike to the left side of it, opposite of Lune. Her feet hit the ground just in time for his exclamation to make her jump slightly. She hadn’t been expecting him to cry out suddenly. She looked down at him as his knees buckled. The surprise that gripped her didn’t allow Hoenn’s Leader any sort of verbal reaction. She was about to ask what was wrong with him when she looked up, above his head to see a floating, red, zig-zag line. Despite the statement he made, confirming the displeasure it caused the victim of Kecleon’s invisible walls, she couldn’t help but grin a little. She remembered the first time she’d encountered a Kecleon. It had been in this area for sure, but the chameleon-like pokemon had fled as soon as she bumped into its wall, leaving it to vanish soon after. Leaning over, she held her hand out to him for a moment. ”Well, it hasn’t run from you yet, so I doubt it’s wall is going anywhere…”
She hauled him to his feet, looking at the pokemon that was slowly coming back to color.
”I think it accepts you running into it as a challenge. Have fun, huh?” she asked him, smiling slightly. Although he had just collided – with what she assumed was painfully – with a wall, she managed to find a bit of humor in the situation. She’d been clumsy on a similar level when she was a teenager as well.
She looked back at him, clicking a pokeball off of her belt, and relaxing her hand enough for it to open. A red beam of energy shot out and took the form of a cat-like pokemon next to her, before the form solidified into her beloved Espeon. ”I take it you can handle a few wild Kecleon huh?” she asked with a teasing smile. ”Just don’t forget to look for them first, and not simply run into them.” She gave a bit of a laugh before turning and walking to one of the nearly ladder-like wooden staircases leading to the treehouses above. ”Let’s split up, you take the route and grass below the city, and I’ll take the aerial route. Clear the pokemon out and meet on the other side of the city in about half an hour?”
Nodding some, she started her ascent up the staircase, Daybreak following her more slowly, but still strong. She hadn’t waited for an answer, but then again, there was no real answer to her words – which were more of instructions than a question – other than ‘my pokemon are too weak to battle wild Kecleon’, which she found highly unlikely. He could still always shout up at her through the branches if there was a problem.

Alyssa reached the top of the ladder-staircase and turned around, bending over and crouching on her knees, waiting for her beloved Espeon to get closer to the top. Admittedly it hadn’t been the smartest thing on Alyssa’s part to release the Sun pokemon down below when they had practically a ladder to climb. However, the idea of potentially capturing a Kecleon had sent the normal consideration she had for her pokemon to the back of her mind. As soon as Alyssa saw the tips of the Espeon’s ears, she leaned down over the edge, holding her hands out. Daybreak looked up and gave a flick of her tail before hopping to the step that set her body between Alyssa’s hands.
Clasping her fingers around the purple, cat-like body, Alyssa leaned back, hoping her greater weight – although only forty pounds more than the Espeon’s – would keep her rooted to the wooden deck as she pulled her pokemon up. She got the psychic-type pokemon to the first step before she had to re-adjust herself, and give the Espeon a final pull upwards. She fell back, seeing as Daybreak had half-jumped upwards off of the stair, without first warning her trainer. The body of the pokemon landed on her trainers, winding the white-haired young woman slightly. ”Oof..!” she exclaimed quietly. ”Daybreak...” Alyssa choked out slightly. ”Please get off...”
The Espeon scrambled backwards and to the side, worry reflected in her deep purple gaze evident. ”Don’t worry...” Alyssa managed to say a few seconds later, before pulling herself upwards. ”I’m fine...” smiling, she stroked her Espeon’s forehead, gently tapping the red gem above her eyes. Pushing herself to her feet, she gestured forward. ”Let’s go. We have Kecleon to take care of. Our first one is right before us...couldn’t pick a more annoying place to set up its barrier, eh?” she asked the psychic-type pokemon, who nodded.
Daybreak could take the Kecleon out in a single attack. She didn’t need to prepare herself in any way. Using Calm Mind before any other of her attacks would be a bit like overkill on the poor chameleon pokemon.
”Daybreak...” Alyssa closed her eyes, sensing her pokemon tense beside her. ”Break its wall with a Shadow Ball, then attack it with a bout of Psychic!” The Espeon nodded and grouched, wiggling her hindquarters as though she was about to pounce on something. Her purple eyes glowed, and her entire body became surrounded by a purple aura, showing the activation of her psychic powers. A black ball of energy formed in front of her mouth, before she released it. The contact with the invisible wall, caused it to explode on contact, sending the Kecleon tumbling backward, turning back to normal in an instant.
She blinked in surprise as the Kecleon’s colors reverted back to what she assumed was its normal coloration. The only Kecleon she’d seen previously had been green and red with yellow stripes on its head. This one, however, had yellow wherever there was green previously, which faded to orange closer to the edges of the ridged crown on its head. Where the yellow stripes should have been on it’s head were royal blue, and its red stripe remained.
Well...that’s interesting... she thought with a smirk, clicking an empty pokeball off her belt. Kecleon werent the most common pokemon around, and she didn’t know what the true benefits of it was. The Kecleon observed her closely before reverting back to the typical primarily green combination. Alyssa blinked. That was...admittedly cool. ”Right, Daybreak. Psychic.”
The Espeon obliged, her eyes glowing in addition to the red gem on her forehead. Alyssa knew she was reaching out with her mind into the Kecleons own, delivering a powerful mental assault on the chameleon-like pokemon. The Kecleon cried out, falling to the bridge beneath it without putting up much of a fight. However, it was still conscious and remained un-fainted. It glared at her defiantly, pushing itself to its feet. ”Still have energy to fight after that?” Alyssa asked smiling. ”You’ll be a good addition to my party.” Glancing at the Espeon, she spoke again. ”Psychic. Bring it forward and restrain it.” Daybreak nodded and took control of the Kecleon.
Its eyes went wide as it lost control of its own body, as Daybreak took control of its mind. One of the many abilities of Psychic... she grinned. The psychic energy from Daybreak pulled the Kecleon off the ground, levitating it forward for Alyssa. The trainer tossed a pokeball at it leisurely, smiling as it hit its target. Daybreak held the pokeball as well, in the air, as it shook before stilling, the red circle in the center fading to white.
The pokemon returned the pokeball – and new pokemon – to her trainer. ”Thank you, Daybreak..” she said, looking down as the Espeon brushed lovingly against her trainers leg. ”But we have no time to spare. Lets go.” Rushing forward, she continued the mission, planning on dispatching Kecleon along the way.

Alyssa surprisingly made it to the next wooden patio suspended in the trees without running in to a Kecleon. Glancing down at Daybreak, who had been hard on her heels she smiled at the Espeon. She was a loyal partner, and she never wanted to part with the dear pokemon. She knew that it would, at some point, be inevitable, but she forced the thought out of her mind. That was the absolute last thing she wanted to think about. Crouching down, Alyssa clicked the pokeball – now containing a Kecleon – on her belt. She patted the device before stroking Daybreak’s head behind her large ears. Closing her large, violet eyes, Daybreak’s mouth opened in a silent cry of pleasure. Alyssa knew the Espeon loved having behind her ears scratched.
”Well Daybreak…” she said, getting the Espeon’s attention once again. ”You read to deal with some more Kecleon?” The Espeon nodded eagerly, before sitting up straight and licking her trainer’s nose. It had been a while since they actually went hunting for other pokemon to battle or dispatch. Looking up, Alyssa observed the upper level of Fortree City carefully. …three…four…five…six… Six Kecleon on the upper level of the City alone? ”Geez…” Alyssa murmured to herself. ”I wonder what’s got their tongues in a knot…” Looking at Daybreak again, she spoke. ”There’s six Kecleon that I can count, d’you see them?” The Espeon looked, nodding for every red, zig-zag-stripe she saw seemingly floating in mid-air. ”Good. I want you to reach your Psychic out to each of them and take care of them. Drop them to the floor below. Not hard, mind you..!” Alyssa said quickly (not that Daybreak would do that unless specifically instructed anyway).
”Just enough to let them get the point…” She stood back up when her pokemon nodded yet again. A purple aura encased the Espeon’s body and her usually purple eyes glowed blue-violet as she activated her Psychic power. The red stripes jerking signified to Alyssa that they had received the familiar feeling of Psychic. One-by-one, the lizard-like pokemon came into full view, no longer mostly invisible. They all writhed as Daybreak’s mind reached them, assaulting them mentally and causing them to lose practically all of their energy. Daybreak knew better than to make them faint completely, they wouldn’t be able to run off, otherwise.
The Kecleon rose in the air before dropping immediately almost all the way to the ground. Startled cries from the pokemon erupted as they plummeted before being stopped, and lightly dropped the remaining three feet to the ground below. Once they were released from the telekinetic grip of Daybreak’s power, they gave themselves a few arousing shakes before stumbling off, some seeming more disoriented than others. They ran in to the bushes below, vanishing. Looking down to check on her suboordinate’s progress, she watched as more Kecleon ran off after watching some of their identical counterparts be tossed aside by Lune’s pokemon.
I guess I forgot to tell him to take it easy on them… she thought. Daybreak gave a half-squeak in reply, having heard her trainers’ thoughts. Doing a double-check sweep of the area, Alyssa nodded. No more red-striped bellies in sight. Walking out onto a wooden plank bridge almost directly above Lune’s head, she sat, dangling her legs over the edge. Daybreak sat beside her, craning her neck to look over the bridge as well.
”Hey, Lune..!” Alyssa called after a minute. ”How’re you doing?” She glanced at Daybreak, whos eyes were now intent on two of the lizard pokemon below. Using Psychic again, she took control of their minds and directed them into the bush before releasing her hold on them. That would make Lune’s job easier.

Alyssa felt dampness seeping through the seat of her pants as she stayed still on the wooden-plank bridge, using it as a chair rather than a footbridge. It hadn’t been smart of her in the first place to sit down on something that retained waterin Hoenn, but further in Fortree, which was perhaps the rainiest City in all Hoenn (not counting the routes, however). Alyssa watched the unfamiliar pokemon – which she assumed was Dragon-type based on the fact it had just used Outrage – stood with a dazed look in its eyes. Confused due to fatigue from that technique... Alyssa mused silently, glancing at Daybreak.
The Espeon looked at her trainer, blinking silently as she waited for the next command. Alyssa watched as Lune’s pokemon drove the rest of the Kecleon into the bushes. He had finished the mission in what she called ‘record time’ himself. She smiled some and stood up, before clicking Daybreak’s pokeball off of its clasp and holding it in her open palm for Daybreak to return to. The cat-like pokemon looked at her, the purple eyes of her expression gaining what one could call a bit of confusion. Alyssa gave a small chuckle and spoke, comforting her pokemon. ”Don’t worry Daybreak, I’ll let you out once we’re on the ground again. You can’t slide down vines, and it’s not like you can levitate yourself..” she said, as her pokemon vanished in a red flash of energy back into its pokeball.
Truly, that was something Alyssa found strange in all psychic-type pokemon. There were some as powerful as Daybreak that had telekinesis allowing them only to levitate and move other objects, just not themselves. Odd...but im no pokemon researcher.. she reminded herself. Jumping from the bridge, she took hold of the vine and, instead of sliding down at an uncontrolled rate, she slowly lowered herself to the ground, releasing the vine and landing when she was close enough.
A small cry caught her attention, and her head turned immediately to look at Lune, who’s arm had been grabbed by the clawed hand of his pokemon. Still confused...? Alyssa thought, although her worry was a bit more prominent. A strong pokemon, from the looks of it, could unintentionally be very dangerous.
